Question for those seasoned exercisers?

Here's the question, do any of you seasoned exercisers who now have achieved good muscle tone and definition do cardio five days a week? I do cardio about 5 days a week, it can go up to 60 minutes, I lift doing one body part, once a week, sometimes legs twice. Is this too much cardio, am I possibly hurting the muscle? I am getting pretty good definition because I like to lift pretty heavy. Is it possible to still achieve nice muscle while doing so much cardio or would you suggest I tone it down. I do still need to lose some bodyfat. I carry mostly around my stomach and behind. Thanks it would be nice to get some differing views or what's worked for different individuals? Thanks

I do cardio 3-4 times a week & lift 3 times a week (each body part once a week). But this is a maintenance routine for me. It took me about 2 years to build the muscle I have now, & that was working out 6 days a week, although it was still each body part once a week, just split differently. I think working only one body part per day helped build muscle more b/c I simply had more energy to put into each particular muscle group.

Also, the one thing that truly helped me build muscle was having a training partner. I worked out w/a college football player & we basically did the same routine (although at different weights, obviously). But having someone to spot when I was trying to increase my weights was an incredible boost & really helped me increase strength.

So in the beginning did you do cardio more often than 3 t0 4 times a week until you got to this point? Did you start off with having to lose any bodyfat, or were you just looking to sculpt your muscle? Thanks for responding.
