Question for Muffin top

I was doing a search and came across your post about quitting smoking. I was wondering how you are doing? I am a closet smoker and quit today and I am jumping out of my skin my Dh is downstairs watching the news smoking. The smell is making me sick. I want to be healthy. No more butts. This is very hard and I am about to freak out. So if you could offer advise and update I would love to hear from you.
Susan
Smoke free 1 full day!!!!!

Not muffin top, but I quit smoking at 23 after a ten year habit (yes, I started at 13, much to my parents dismay!) God knows how much easier HS track would have been if I'd been a non-smoker! I'm 38, going on 39 and quitting was the hardest/best thing I've ever done. No one can believe that I used to be a smoker (I guess the health nut thing throws them off!)

First 3 days are the hardest. And you're already through 1/3 of it. If I can do it, you can.

Oh, I used one of the self-hypnotize type tapes. Listened to it every day, sometimes twice. It seemed to help me.

Some ppl are concerned about weight gain. I gained some, but then lost it. I've noticed that others have done the same.

Don't hesitate to use a "crutch," like patches. They worked for me with NO nicotine cravings. Now 14 years smoke free - it was actually easy.

Thank you both for the kind words of encouragement. I am worried about gaining weight. I am really going to have to clean eat and drink lots of water. So for me it is day 2 at 5:45 am I feel ok except for a headache. I am taking it 1 hour at a time. I REALLY want to do this. Please offer any advise for me it is most welcomed.

Thank,
Susan

UGH! You've made me feel so guilty! I started again after some stressful work situations. I felt SO much better when I wasn't smoking. My new quit date is July 1. You hang in there! I will be joining you soon.:)

Thanks for getting back to me. I made it through day 2. I am trying to convince myself that I have never smoked. I feel pretty good. I have a long road ahead of me. Good Luck and let me know how you make out. July 1 is just around the corner. I was going to stop after the 4th but I always have an excuse. So I just did it. My DH is smoking right now. That makes it hard for me.
I am keeping busy the house is spotless!
Good Luck.

I quit smoking 2 l/2 years ago with the help of patches AND the nicotine lozenges. uggghhhh!!! But, I finally quit!!! If I can quit, anyone can. I'm so happy everyday, especially when I come in contact with a person that just finished one. It really is a horrible smell and I can't believe that I actually bothered to put perfume on in the morning.

I don't know if I could have quit with someone that was still smoking - especially in the house. I think you need to talk to him about moral support.

Good luck - it's the hardest thing you'll ever do....but you'll have so much to be proud of.

Thank you Nancy,
I am starting day 3 and feel like a weight has been lifted off my back. I am still taking it 1 hour at a time. My DH is not supportive at all He keeps saying thngs like it's OK it you fall off the wagon and came home from work with a pack for me. I just quietly made dinner and then went upstairs to my computer room. I am looking forward to a smoke free life. Most people don't even know I smoke so I have very little support. I am dong this. It is for me.

Thank you for your kind words.

Susan

Yes, my husband smokes too. He's always asking me to go outside and have one with him. It makes it very hard. He talks about quitting all the time, but so far I haven't really seen him try. It's been such a part of our life together--going out on the porch and having a smoke and talking about our day. Still, I know I'll feel better if I do it and maybe if I do, he will too. Good luck on day three. I agree that if it gets really tough, you should go to the store and get the patch. It did help me immensely! Unfortunately, I always turn to what I know in stressful situations and I started back again. I will quit again. Saturday is the day!:)

I will be thinking of you Saturday let me know how you do. I am at day 3. This morning I actually felt better working out. I did Muscle Endurance and Power Hour ( I took out the squats & lunges in PH)
I don't want to hurt my knees. I got enough to worry about.
I also bought a patch today. I needed some help I was getting a little crazy. I bought carrot stixs and some frosted mini wheats for snacks. I can't gain any weight.

Hey there! Just popping in to say I quit again 7-2-06! So far, so good. I do have a step 2 Nicoderm patch on. This is it! How are you doing? How did the weekend go for you? Just curious.;-)

How are you doing with this?
I quit after 10 yrs - cold turkey. No patch, no crutch. I have not had a cigarette in 4 years, and find it quite repulsive today.

If you want it, you will do it, regardless of your husband being supportive or not.

It sounds like you're doing OK so far! You can do it!
