Question for morning exercisers

Cathlete
I got up early this morning and had some extra time, so I did my workout and now it's done for the day.

Except I feel like I should go home and do something else. Does this happen to you, or did it when you first started working out in the morning? Does it eventually pass, because I'd like to start working out in the morning more regularly.

Thanks!

Hey Shelley!

I often work out at nap time which falls between noon and 3pm. Even if I go to they gym in the morning for cardio, often times I'll have weights scheduled for nap time as well. On the rare occassions that I ONLY have cardio to do in the morning at the gym, I am at a loss at nap time. I DO feel like I should be doing something else so I know where you are coming from. It will probably never pass for me until nap time no longer exists (lol) but I would think that once you get into working out in the mornings the majority of the time that the need to work out again the evening will pass. :)

Sometimes.

I have to work out in the a.m. before I go to work because if I wait till I get home,I'm just too tired to work out or life just gets in the way

Sometimes, I am able to sneak in another workout in the evening but If I don't get it in, I'm not the least bit guilty because I know it's already done. Anything else I can fit in the rest of the day is a bonus.

It depends on my mood and if I have time. Usually if it's nice outside I'll go for a walk or jog (if I have the time). However, one of the main reasons I work out in the mornings is because my afternoons and evenings are booked.
I consider it a bonus if I have the time to work out in the afternoon, so if I can it's a treat. If not, then I'm still all set since I got it in in the morning!

I think if you continue working out in the mornings you will eventually become conditioned to it and not feel like your skipping out on something in the evening. When you feel that way remind yourself that you already worked out and can relax.

Heck no! I love the feeling of knowing my exercise is out of the way for the day & when I get to go home I can just chillax (I just learned that word & fully intend to use it every chance I get }( ).

Unfortunately I usually don't get home before 10 pm these days so there's not much chillaxing going on in my house. :-(

i always try to get yoga in the evening anyway. morning is the only time i can get a good workout in. sometimes i feel like doing more, but depending on my day i jsut want to stretch out and go to sleep LOL.

Oh absolutely Shelley! I get up 4:15 and workout from 4:30 until about 6:00. (This may change slightly with summer break as that gave me time to shower and get the kids moving.) But I have a 3-y.o. at home and if I'm fortunate to have him take a brief snooze I almost always go back and sneak in some extra. Usually it's along the lines of a Lotte Berk method or Fluidity or yoga so I don't have to do the whole shower routine again. But I absolutely feel like I need another workout if I get a chunk of time to sneak it in.

I work out in the am and yes, I often work out again in the evening. I'm honestly trying to get away from that. I've started doing a kind of one body part a day rotation where I do about 20-30 minutes of weights (one body part) and then another 30-40 minute cardio in the morning plus abs. I'm extending my usual 1 hour morning workout to about 1 hour 20 minutes. I'm hoping this works for me because I seriously despise working out at night but I feel like a slacker if I don't do weights and cardio both in the same day.

Hi Shelley... I work out in the morning because that's really the only time I can fit it into my day. So although I would love to do more in the evenings (yoga or a walk or anything, really), I would rarely have the time to do anything, so it never really crosses my mind. We have a pool so in the summer, my DH & I often fit in a swim in the evenings but mostly just for fun, nothing really strenuous. If my DH is out of town & I have the evening all to myself, I will usually fit in another workout of some kind. It's a nice feeling to know you already did it in the morning & it's over, though, isn't it?

Ditto that! The last thing I want to do when I get home from a long day at work is work out. I work out a lot better in the mornings anyway (I don't have as much pep in the afternoon). And I am LOVIN' this word - chillax. I'm all about the chillax in the evenings. ;)

Sometimes I do cardio in the morning and weights at night.I like to have it all finished in the morning.

Hi-

I don't have a time of day that I always workout, but I do notice that if I do my cardio early AM, then my "endorphin" buzz wears off by early afternoon. Do you think that might be what is going w/ you?

In a perfect world, I like to workout around 10 be done and showered by noon. That way, I feel energized to get through the rest of the day. However, that doesn't really happen very often!

Take care, Lynn M.

Hi Shelly,

I used to work out in the mornings before work and YES -- I always felt guilty when I got home and frequently did a second workout. I am back to evenings now. Can't get this butt out of bed in the morning!

Monica

I love working out every morning, very early.

Then I work all day long. At night I love cooking dinner and going on the forum and reading and possibly watch a little tube....

I love getting my excerise out of the way. I feel great the rest of the day!

Good luck!

:)

I'm a new convert also to the morning exercise regime.

It is awesome to get in done in the morning before work, so as Laura puts when I get home I can "chillax", (that is great word couldn't help using it :7 ), plus if I skip it in the morning it never gets done and then I beat myself up, which sucks. x( I would like to add stretching in the evening.

Stick with it, you'll come to love it and find more time for other fun stuff in the evening.

I am with Lauramax, Heck no! I have always been a morning exerciser and evn now that I am a sahm I do not find any time in my day to go back and do more. I can't even put a dent in my to do list as it is. Sittin here on the computer isn't hekping that either LOL:p !

I do my workout in the morning, but save abs for the evening. For example, if tomorrow morning I'm planning PUB, I'll do the abs tonight after my kids go to bed. This has two benefits: I do abs when I'm fresher, and it makes my morning workout a little shorter.

I also say "heck no"! I love getting it out of the way in the morning and not having to worry about it for the rest of the day. Just remember that too much is also not good... Unless it's yoga or stretching, in my opinion.
