Question for book club members

I normally don't read fiction, but a couple of recent novels I've picked up (John Irving's "The Fourth Hand" and William Goldman's most recent edition of "The Princess Bride") both have book club discussion questions at the end.

?

Do you use these questions if they are provided at the end of the book? I would think a book club would be able to come up with its own, depending on the reading perspectives of the individual members.

Just curious - my father says it's quite the thing now.

I belong to a book club and we usually do both. We will run thru the questions and discuss the ones that interest us and just pass on the ones that don't. We also raise our own questions and thoughts on what we are reading. Love my book club!

I've run a Book Club for almost 5 years and we do what Phyllis does. We chat amongst ourselves with our own questions and comments, and hit the discussion questions if we fall short of topics (which rarely happens with 12+ women in the room! LOL)!

Enjoy!
