Hi Beaves, . . .question for you. You mentioned that you see a personal trainer. How did you find yours? Did you research? When I go to the gym I'm a little turned off by the personal traininers that I see there, . . . generally over weight people or young twenty somethings (no offense) who look like they couldn't even last through Imax 2. I'm a little leary of paying someone who I could out run on a track. Then again I've thought of hiring a personal trainer to help kick it up a notch for me and for me as well as check my form when I'm lifting. I don't know if it would be rude to try him/her out for a session and then give them the boot if you don't like them. It just seems like anyone can be a personal trainer now a days even my 6 year old.

Janie....I was very lucky in the my PT has a strong reputation in the area. She was a fitness columnist in a local paper and taught classes at a local, and very well regarded, gym (Tamster can attest to her butt kicking spin classes). Her credentials include an MS and a PhD in addition to her certifications so fitness and nutrition are her profession, through and through. The PT at my gym is rather much a noodle head so it pays to ask around. I travel about 30 minutes at another affiliated gym to meet with my PT and I pay her a lot more, but it is worth it.

Wow, . . .dare I ask what the going rate for a PT with such qualifications are??? I live in a small Bay Area California city. I bet I would have to drive at least an hour to find someone with your PT's qualifications ho humm, . . . .I envy you.
