Question for a.m. exercisers who begin with abs

I start working out about 10 minutes after I get out of bed. Just enough time to change clothes, get water, go downstairs, turn on baby monitor, get set up, etc.

So, if I were to begin my video workout with the abs routine, would you suggest I do the warmup first? or after? Or, is there something you morning ab-starters like to do just to get your ab region going, then do abs--then warm up the rest of the body, or the parts you're going to work out?

For example, say I'm planning to do Cardio & Weights. If I do the warmup, I'll be revved to start stepping and lifting, right? Would it be weird to then lie down and do abs? After abs, would I need to rewarm up the rest of my body?

If I start doing ab work directly 10 minutes after I was asleep--well, do any of you do that? Does it work out alright for you?

Thoughts?

Thanks,
Gisela

Hi Gisela!
IMO I like to do cardio and stuff before abs. It just gets everything else done with so I can concentrate on abs. But if you like working abs first, I suggest doing a slight warm-up because you just got up 10 minutes ago, and you body needs to get in the "work out" mood;-)

HTH!

I am also an AM exerciser and I start with Abs. I usually do a Core Max segment right out of bed. She has a move called levitation holds which warm up the core and get you on your way. I would not suggest doing a full warm-up and then lying down. Maybe doing the cooldown before abs as most of her video routines go?

Hmm...

I really like the Coremax levitation holds idea, also I hadn't thought of the cooldown, that sounds kinda good too.

The reason I had decided to do abs first is because, unlike our beloved Adri, I don't enjoy doing them and tend to blow them off when they appear at the end of a video.

I completely understand. I start with abs on the mornings that I run, because try to put the run off as long as possible. I know at the end of a run, I will absolutely NOT do abs.
