Question as I'm purging my exercise videos

Cathlete
I'm still trying to figure out what I'm going to do with all of my videos. If I chose to sell or trade them on the internet, wouldn't the shipping cost for them be high? I really could use the money right now but if the profit margin is small then perhaps it's not worth it. I'm in the basement now feeling the need to get rid of stuff but I don't want to throw away money either. If I donate them to the library, they only sell them for .50 each. I still have a bunch that I'm not ready to part with. Any thoughts on what I should do? This is really beginning to get to me since this has been ongoing for WAY too long!!!!!

Thanks!

If you sell them (like on Ebay on on Amazon) postage costs the buyer would pay are in addition to the cost of the DVD's. (When I used to sell on Ebay---and I have several boxes of DVD's to sell now!---I would offer the same shipping costs for 1-3 DVD's).

If you trade them, then each person would pay the shipping costs for sending the DVDs to the other.

If you donate them to the library, you just have to let go of them and not think about them any more once they are out of your hands.

I have the same problem getting rid of things that I paid good money for but will probably not recoup much of if I sell. But when I'm being rational, I realize that something that is cluttering up my house and not of use to me is better to get rid of to free up space. I really need to purge (workouts, clothes, 'stuff'!) before the end of the year.

Hi Kathryn. I actually was referring to the VHS videos (I generally think dvd's now as well when someone says videos ;)) which I'm guessing I wouldn't get a lot of money for. I've got some really good ones and a few unopened. Like I said though, I could use the money but how much would I really make on them is what I have to think about. I know not many people are buying videos anymore except some of us diehards. I do also have dvd's to sell which I'm sure would be easier to do so and would command a better price. Like you, I've got too much "stuff" in my house that I want to get rid of. I can help you get rid of yours if you help me get rid of mine. Isn't it always easier to toss other people's stuff? Trust me, I can do that VERY well!!! :p

Ah, actual "videos", LOL!

Here's a thought: is there a YMCA or some kind of community/aid organization that might welcome a donation of some of these videos?

Videos are harder to get rid of (but I'll bet if you have some hard-to-find workouts, someone on Ebay will pay a ridiculous price for them!). And I personally hate to just throw things away (I try to find a way to sell, donate or recycle whenever possible, but I've got to get my butt in gear and start posting sales on Ebay to get rid of the DVD's I have on my 'get-rid-of' pile. I'm also not quite sure what to do with the few videos I have.)
