Question about Steps

Cathlete
I have been doing Cathe's workouts for about 2 months and have been using the firm box and while it is good enough, it doesn't have the support I need and can't be a higher step for lower impact work. I know Cathe recommends the Original Health Club Step but I was wondering what the difference between that one:

and this one is:

http://www.walmart.com/catalog/product.do?product_id=2590792

The second one is $12 cheaper and comes with Cardio & Weights and Basic Step so it seems the better deal to me.

Can anyone give me any reason to buy the "original" step?

Thanks!

Hi Angie,

It actually looks like they are the exact same step since they have the same measurements, although one of them can support 200 pounds and one of them 300 pounds. Just to be sure, though, is there a customer service number you can call or email?

You may want to email customer service before buying the cheaper one since there is a smaller version of the step out there (which it looks like WalMart is calling "The Step Box") that isn't the same as the larger one and that doesn't work as well for Cathe's videos (which use the entire step).

But it looks like this is a really great deal!

Thanks for the response. I saw those differences as well. The weight thing isn't an issue but one of the problems that I have with the firm box is that it isn't long enough (similar to the "step box") so I was paying close attention to the measurements. Looks like this one is going to work well for what I want though and I guess if anything, I can always take it back if it isn't right.

I used The Firm Transfirmer for a long time and it also was not long enough (although it's the most sturdy of any "bench" I've ever used). It was very versatile but you couldn't adjust it in 2" increments. The two steps you show look the same but you should probably check. I suspect they ARE the same and the 200/300 lb. difference is just misinformation because I can't see The Step company allowing anyone else to so closely duplicate their copywrighted design. I don't know what ever happened to my pink risers but I had the long step top and wound up buying a stack of risers and the square topper so I'd have all-around versatility while doing all of Cathe workouts. On top of all that, I have every FIRM step device clear back to the wood benches. Crazy. I don't do The Firm anymore but the sculpting stick comes in real handy when I do GSL calf pumps!
