question about selling gym equipment

Has anyone here ever sold large gym equipment? And on the internet? My dh want to just give it away, but it's in excellent shape. I was searching on the internet and saw a site called gimmiesports.com. It looks exactly what I'm looking for, but was curious if any of you have had experience with this site or could recommend another. I don't think Ebay would be an option because it's so massive.

It's a Parabody Serious Steel 425. My dh says since he goes to the gym and I really don't use it, we might as well get rid of it. I think he's making space for something else, IMO. LOL! I know him too well!

Thanks, Dallas

I've seen stuff on ebay before where the seller stipulated that the item was to be picked up because it was large and shipping would be high.

Of course there's always the garage sale option.

Dallas, we were in the same predicament a while back & we just put it in the classifieds. I think DH was very satisfied with the outcome, considering he is such an ogre when it comes to money. We have a gym membership at a really good deal so while our home gym was adequate, we wanted to immediately go to cardio after, but didn't have any cardio equipment at home at the time. Never sold it online, but as I say, we had good responses on classifieds alone.

ETA- I still have my gym membership but have probably not been back there since 2001 or 2002 when I discovered Cathe.

I live in the Bay Area and there is a site called craigslist. It's either craigslist.org or craigslist.com I think either works.
Here, they do have one for Chicago. Check it out. http://chicago.craigslist.org/
You can list your equipment there and then anyone in the area can come pick it up. I've never sold anything through them, but my parents have and they were pleased. My dad said it was much better than giving it away.
Good luck!

Thanks Marla, I mentioned that idea about the classified and he said he would do that if he set it up at his office. He doesn't want strangers coming here. I guess I can understand that. He does have the space at his office to do that. Isn't it funny how we (or at least I do) think that only the internet could be involved to do anything in life anymore. I really didn't even think of the paper. I still have my gym membership, too. I keep telling dh to let it go, so I can buy more Cathe DVD's. :)

Thanks again, Dallas

Yeah, that's the problem Elaine. We had to have a fitness place take it down at out old house and then reset it up in our new house. That alone was an all day project.

Our homeowners assoc or rules of the subdivision, I'm not sure which won't let us have garage sales. Can you believe that?

Thanks for the idea.

Thanks Amy. I'll go check that out. I hope that this option will work. I'd love to get that think out of the work out room then I'll have more room during the Imaxes!

If you have a "Play It Again Sports" in your area, they buy/trade used equipment. Never done it, but a friend of mine did.
