Pyramid workouts

Hello :)

May 1st I will be starting another 12 week rotation. This time, I would like to use the Pyramids U&L workouts, which I haven’t used in over a year, I know...I know sad :-( but true x( However, I can remember using PLB and my legs got really really big. I am not looking for a muscular build in my thighs but I do want to build them. Me, I am pear shape little top and big thighs.

Need your input. How much weight would you suggest I use when doing the lower body workout. Should I use NO weights or keep weight under 20 lbs. May I ask, what was your results and how did you use these workouts. Thank you.

I can't really tell you what weights to use because everyone is different. It depends on what your max weight is for leg work.

When I stopped using heavy weights for legs I was only up to 12 # DB's (never had the desire to go heavier than 15's anyway really) so when I lightened up because I didn't want my thighs to get any larger (they shrunk BTW :) ), I went down to 8# DB's or no weight at all depending on the work out...so for PLB I would use 3, 5 and 8# DB's but for something like LL I would sometimes use no weight at all!:)

HTH a bit!

Teddygirl...I don't use very heavy weights for any leg work just because I build muscle easily and I don't want to look like a weight lifter with those big legs...I want slender, well defined legs like a runner/dancer.

So...that said, I use 15 and 22 pounds (body bars) for lunges/squats. I will only every once in awhile go heavier and use my 27 pound bodybar but that is like once a month for one set. I really have to be careful so my legs don't get bigger than I like.

If you look back at some of older Cathe workouts, Cathe's legs are big. And now in the more recent workouts she has slimmed down her legs and they're smaller. She posted on Ask Cathe that she no longer lifts heavy all the time for leg work because she felt her legs were too big. Just because she uses 40 pounds for leg work in some of the workouts don't assume she uses that weight 3 times a week, 4 weeks a month.

We all have to figure out what works for us depending on our fitness goals. And I do sometimes use no weights for legs when the lunge session is long...say as in Bodymax. I'll start out with my 22 then go down to my 15 then finish with no weight.

And don't forget to do walking lunges. They really do wonder's for the lower body.

Thank guys ;) :)

I was thinking the same. I did a search and found out that it is best to use light weights or no weights at all. I have only had these workouts for ever ;( and now I am sooooooo excited about them again.

Okay, I figure, I would pyramid up to know more than 15 lbs, maybe less for my LB and higher if I can for UB I'm still trying to build UB. Thanks again and have a great weekend.

Oh BTW your pictures our nice. Keep up the good work :)
