Pyramid or Gym Style?

In my quest to reduce cardio and increase strength, which is going rather well for this cardio addict, which would be the best to add to the collection? I perfer to do 2-3 total body strength days and 2-3 all cardio days. I think I am leaning towards the Pyramids? Any input?

It would be easier for you to get a total body weight workout from the Pyramids, since there is a total body premix on that DVD. The Gym Styles don't have that option.

But personally, I have seen more strength gains using the Gym Styles.

I've got both GS and pyramids, and love them both. For all upper body, I'd go with the pyramids. (GS splits upper body into two dvds, which you probably already know) I never (mean, never) fail to get bicep doms with the pyramids. Lower body rocks, too.

I agree with Shannon. I've gotten better results with the Gym Style but I still really like the Pyramids. I'm glad I have them both. If money is a factor, I *think* the Pyramids are a little cheaper so that may be a consideration as well.
Another reason I like the Gym Styles is that they force me to do 3 weight workouts in one week...which is quite a change for me. And I think they're a little harder than the Pyramids. I'm not sure I'm helping or just confusing the issue:) I say get them both if you can.

I agree with Shannon and Carolyn. I have and love both of them. I've never done the Pyramids as produced -- I really like the premixes on that one, especially the pyramid down.

If it's total body workouts you want why not get Muscle Max? That's another great one. In fact, I'd get MM and the GS workouts:D

Next week I am starting a strength rotation that alternates use of the Gym Styles and the Pyramids. I had originally written it out using just the GS series but decided to alternate it with the Pyramids to keep it interesting. Change is always good anyway though so I figure I can't loose! }(

So I guess I agree with Shelley...YES! :7

I started a rotation (my own) this week also alternating Gym Style and Pyramids. I love them both and I had a hard time choosing which one to do for my rotation. This way I get the best of both worlds. I'd say if you have to pick one, go for Pyramids since it's a bit more versatile. You can do them as split routines or do the full body premix. Eventually though think about getting GS as it is really really good. :)

Just a bit OT - is having a stability ball necessary in the Pyramids? I don't have one, and it's probably one of the least expensive pieces of fitness equipment you can buy, but I just don't want more stuff and more clutter in my workout room if I can avoid it.

I say Gym Style, if strength if your goal.

There are more exercises for each bodypart in the GS series, so you can hit each muscle group much more thoroughly.

In the UB Pyramids, there is only 2 exercise for each bodypart, except shoulders which has 3. You are lifting different amounts of weight for those exercises, but it is still only the 2-3 variations/bodypart. Also, it does move a little fast, without many breaks in between sets, so the workout feels a bit more endurance based than strength to me.

It is definitely a challenging workout, but for strength gains and more of a fun factor GS is the way to go, IMO.

Take care, Lynn M.

I just got done a 4-week rotation using Gym Styles, got great results~
Now I am using the Pyramid Style for 4-weeks...and so on..

Violingal:

Yes, you do need a stability ball for the lower body portion in Pyramid Lower Body. I think PUB abs uses the ball as well. As you said, it's a cheap fitness item to buy and you could deflate it if you don't have room.
