pushups and pullups

if one had no equipment at all, do you think that just doing different variations of pushups and pullups is enough to condition all the muscles in the upper body? Seems like it would be since pushups work anterior shoulder, chest and triceps as well as scapulae stabilizers and pullups work biceps, rhomboids, and lats.

Don't have an answer for you but don't forget tricep dips & those decline shoulder presses Cathe does in ????? maybe Muscle Endurance? Where she has her toes on the ball ( I would assume any sturdy surface would work besides a ball - or maybe she uses the step ?) & goes up & down working her shoulders.
Interested to see what others have to say on this.

I think you can get a great upper body workout with just various versions of push ups, pull ups, chin ups and dips. P90X's Chest and Back is basically a variety of push ups and pulls with a few weighted back exercises thrown in and gave me great results! I plan on doing all these exercises while on my beach vacation next month:)

I think you can get a whole heck of lot done with those two moves, especially if you do different variations (piked pushups, different pull up grips, etc).

I recall back when I was in high school that Pro Bowl running back Hershel Walker never lifted weights. He used body weight exercises only for all his workouts - pull ups, push ups, sit ups.

A big fat YES!!!!!!

That's all I do for upper body, each twice a week. I do about 100 (at least) pushups (but must say I have a set of Perfect Pushups), & do chins. You really need nothing more, and if you do this, you'll see a difference in upper body definition in just a couple of weeks. Nothing worked on my triceps & biceps like these two exercises! A very enthusiastic YESSSSSSSS!!!!!!!!!
