pull ups

i can't do pull ups either. what i'm doing now is using my high step and holding the top of the pull up movement and then lowering my body down slow and controled. this is negative work but it will build strength and i will eventually get to pull up my weight.

Yep, negatives are a great way to build strength. Good idea using a high step, I just use a chair. Negatives really work ya!

Bands

Perform Better's bands are cheaper. //www.performbetter.com/detail.aspx_Q_ID_E_3889_A_rnd_E_22. Just check for the strength that you need.

Before I started P90X, I could only do one chinup and no pullups. I finished a P90X rotation a couple months ago. At the end, I could do both chinups and pullups BUT I tried Chest & Back yesterday and couldn't do a single one:mad: WTH?? I've been doing Gym Styles, 4DS, PUB and I lost strength?? My pushup count was much lower too. GRRRRRRRR!

Like other posters, I used a chair to get over bar then took my foot off and came down slowly. Believe me, the negatives really work! My lats are so sore today.

Good luck with P90X....I really liked it. And don't worry if you can't do any pullups....just attempting them is still working yourself hard;)

Woo Hoo Jess!!

You look awesome:eek:

JJ

Thanks, JJ!! I had the same problem when I took a break from P90X. I did a GS/ S & H rotation and felt like I was losing strength. So now I might switch it up for a week or 2, but I always add in pullups so I don't feel like I'm losing ground!!! I worked too hard for those pullups!! :p

I never got to the point of doing an unassisted pull up when doing P90X, but I still had great results.

I did get to the point of doing 1 3/4 pullups after P90X, when I made it a goal to do at least one.
