Pryamid Weight Question

Gemini girl

Cathlete
Hi Cathe-

I am doing the pyramid tapes right now and I have a question regarding the weights. I find that if I use a weight that is challenging (at least for the middle and highest weight) I can't complete the full set since my muscles are fatigued. But, I don't want to lower my weights since it's then too easy and I don't think I'm working my muscles enough to see any changes.

Do you recommend I just do as many reps as I can with the challenging weight even though I don't complete the set? Thanks!!

Linda

Hi Linda, not Cathe. I lift my heaviest on the up pyramid and have great results. It's challenging but very effective. Give it try and let us know how you're doing.

Take care,

Iris

When you get to the heavy set, try going as heavy as you can until you get fatigued, and then dropping down in order to finish the set. I wouldn't lower your weights until it's too easy because that wouldn't be as effective. Have you thought of trying Platemates?

Hi I am not Cathe but I can relate to your question because I have the same problem what I have been doing is instead of doing 10,12,15,12,10 i would do 12,12,15,12,12 at least it increase a little. Im thinking when Im ready I was going to do 12,15,15 vise versa until im ready to do 12,15,20. Just my 2 cents.

Sometimes to help me inch up in weight, I'll just take some extra rest time before going back down the pyramid. After a couple of times doing this, I'm able to use the heavier weight without the extra rest.
