Protein powders / meal replacements?

I read the "subject" and said "NO!!" Protein powders should never replace a meal. You should always incorporate whole foods with your shake.

Thanks! I've never used protein powders before - just looking for some "shake" ideas.

Editing to add that I would be using the shakes for one of my 5-6 small meals per day.
 
I like spirutein. I get the chocolate peanut butter flavor, and mix 1/2 chocolate silk soy milk, and 1/2 skim milk, with two ice cubes in the blender after a work out. It is delicious!

I use the Beachbody whey protein powder. I have both the vanilla and the chocolate. The chocalate with a cup of skim milk, a half of a banana, and a scoop of peanut butter is like drinking a fantastic dessert :D !! Love it!!

I'm going more towards using hemp protein powder (a whole food, with a type of protein that is highly digestible, and the most similar to the protein in the human body). I now mix it with Vegan Complete or some yellow pea protein powder (along with a bunch of other stuff: I don't drink it just by itself).
 
My DH likes the Beachbody Vanilla Whey protein powder (and we tried many brands before he decided that was the one). I like the Vegan Complete and Vega Berry mixed with a scoop of hemp protein powder, berries and bananas.:9

you can use both with them. just depends on your tastes/ preferences. i have the choc/ pb, which i only like with milk. i also have the vanilla ice cream which to me is fine with water. i also like to add fruit to the vanilla.
