Protein Powder

I am really interested in getting some protein powder to include in my diet. I struggle to get enough during the day, and I also struggle with hunger in the mornings.

Anyone use this stuff? Can you tell me a little bit about it? Can you recommend a brand?

I had some success with Myoplex Lite. I will say that there
is almost no way to get the required protein that most "experts" say we need.

I forget the exact amount I'm supposed to have, but I never came close.

BSN is really good. right now i have their vanilla cream. its great mixed with frozen berries for a smoothie. i also love whey gourmet peanut butter chocolate:9 its my favorite. i order all of my protein powders at www.bodybuilders.com you can get discount prices there.

As much as I like flavored powders, I use Optimum Nutrition's Any Whey. It does not have any flavor to speak of and can be used with fruit in shakes or used in oatmeal or even soup. I put a scoop in my coffee and the taste was hardly noticable.

Thanks for the info.

For those who use it, what are the advantages? Do you feel that it helps you to build muscle? Supress hunger? What is the reason that you use it?

i use it to get added protein in b/c egg whites and chicken get boring after a while.

Have never used protein powder. Basic idea is that proteins are the one of the basic building blocks of muscle. When you weightlift, you break down muscle cells. Body needs new protein to rebuild the muscle. Without sufficient intake of protein, body will rebuild muscle by taking protein from other muscles. There is a website called bodybuilding.com which has lots of articles on fitness, nutrition. Find the search feature on the supersite section and plug in protein poweder
Good luck.

I have not been using it long enough yet but was told to get plenty of protein so you do not burn up your muscle along with fat when working out a lot. I understand it also keeps you full feeling longer. Then I read or heard something about not taking more than 25g's at a time as your body can't absorb more than that in a certain time period. So now I am confused also as I am supposed to have over 100 grams a day according to my body weight.

I like Dessert Lean also. I just got it this week and I like that it taste good with just water. Some of the others need add in like fruit and milk or yogurt to taste good. There are days when I just want the protein and little carbs. I have the Banana Cream and Cinnamon Roll. I'll defintely get more when I'm done with these.

I use the GNC brand in Vanilla or Chocolate. I have one every morning right after my workout and use it to take all my vitamins/supplements. I mix one scoop with ice & water in the blender and I think they taste pretty good.

One of my favorite ways to use protein powder is to add it to porridge for breakfast...just be aware that the BSN Dessert will thicken, so be prepared to add more liquid.

I actually add protein powder to the entire family's oatmeal in the morning, everyone loves the flavor it adds...add some fresh or frozen fruit and you have an awesome bowl of cereal! :9 :9
