protein powder

for those of you that use protein powder that you consider high on the taste-tolerance scale, what do you use?

i had been using kashi's chocolate soy protein powder a few times a week after weight work in the morning, and i love it. but the store i was getting it from hasn't restocked in weeks, and i've run out. i can order online but i'm impatient and want to pick some up tomorrow, lol. any ideas? i haven't married myself to soy or whey, although i am happy with the kashi soy version. thanks in advance :)

Thanks for starting this thread....my thoughts are similar...

My personal trainer wants to put me on protein powder as well as a glutamine supplement. I am SCARED TO DEATH of the extra calories! Do you find that you have to MAJORLY cut back on cals elsewhere to compensate for the cals in the powders?

i was freaked out by the calories as well, but decided to take the plunge. i really only had the protein shake if i did my weight work in the morning. i'd get up and have some coffee and maybe half a banana, work out, and then have the shake as my meal. it filled me up and i definitely felt a difference in my workouts since doing this.

For the last year and a half i've been using Labrada proV60. The only flavor i've tried is the vanilla. I think it tastes great. I used to just stir it in some milk, but now I use a banana, some strawberries and either some water or some low sugar cran-grape juice and blend it. (It's best if you freeze some bananas and buy the sliced frozen strwaberries - makes it thick). It really is good! This protein powder is also low in calories and carbs. The best deal i've found is at bodybuilding.com. Good luck.

I've found that Gold's Gym has some really yummy Whey protein powder. The brand is American Sports Nutrition and it's called American Whey. You don't have to be a member to purchase it. My favorite flavors are Creamy Vanilla Extreme and Double Dutch Chocolate Supreme. A 3 lb. container is $31.00. At 104 calories & 20 g of protein per scoop I have a shake 4-5 times per day.

Any protein powder can be made more palatable by mixing it with either juice, or another liquid plus frozen fruits.

Also, as you look into protein powders, don't discount hemp (my favorite, and the best, IMO), pea and rice, or yellow pea.

Right now I am using EAS 100% Whey in Vanilla. I normally mix it with 1C Skim Milk, 6 Ice cubes, & 1T of Van-or-Choc. S/F-F/F pudding...YUM It tastes like a milkshake!

I am however going to try it with less milk, I know Skim has alot of sugar.
