Why do you drink these? Is this something I can do for breakfast and then workout? Can you drink them for a sweet tooth how do you know which to have do you drink them b4 workout or after. Where does everyone get theirs how much does it cost and how much do you get? How about the bars I picked up a couple when I was taking the spinning classes I think I got them from Walmart what do you look for in a bar? Why do you eat them and when?

Does anyone have good ideas for smoothies I would like to throw some of these together for a breakfast option I just got a blender.

I am trying to make changes I cut out choclate but I caved and ate 4 cookies this afternoon. I have been having 2 hard-boiled eggs for breakfast (I was eating 2 toaster strudles) lunch I have been having salad with cukes tomatoes red cabbage croutons, and italian dressing dinner whatever I make (tonight will be a roast with steamed carrots and dill) I am going to give up my b4 bed snack next or replace with fruit if I can not. I have tried the whole brush your teeth thing and it doesn't help.

Thank you you guys are always so helpful.

I did PM Cathe to ask her about a clean eating forum.

I'm bumping because there are people here who REALLY know how to answer these questions and I HOPE they'll respond because I need to know, too.

I can tell you that most of us trying to put on muscle (and lose fat) try to make sure we get protein every 2-3 hours and, because it's sometimes tough, some of us use protein (whey) powders. I started with Designer Whey because it won a bunch of awards for taste but, because I felt it tasted like sawdust, I was sure there had to be something better. Then someone here mentioned Dessert Protein from BSN. Awesome! I STILL have yet to make a smoothie in a blender but I add the powder to my oatmeal every morning. Everyone likes Fresh Cinnamon Bun best but I prefer to add Whipped Vanilla, along with cinnamon and raisons. Ummm.

I just asked about protein bars and will see what everyone has to say.

Personally I started using the Lean Dessert protein on a regular basis about 4 weeks ago. I am following a very clean diet plan that involves eating small mini-meals consisting of fibrous veggies, whole grains, protein and natural fats like flax seed oil which I add to my shakes.
Three of my 7 mini-meals consist of one scoop of protein powder with water and the flax oil. I have added a cheat day this past week, because the diet is way too strict....but I am finding that extra protein very helpful and easy to use. Its hard to carry around enough chicken breasts sometimes!
Since I have been getting extra protein and watching my overall caloric intake I have leaned out and am much stronger. Whey protein is wonderful for helping control the appetite and sweet tooth-in my experience.Your body digests it and uses it very well.
But I believe the protein shakes must be used in conjunction with a fairly clean diet plan..otherwise you are adding extra calories, you have to consider them one of your mini-meals. You could also use them as your mid-afternoon and mid-morning snack instead of what you normally eat.I wouldn't personally use the protein bars, although I know alot of gals love the Larabars for snacks which supply alot energy for workouts.

I guess it all depends on how hard you train, if you are seriously lifting and doing cardio then yes, the protein shakes a few times a day are great. I think those that don't exercise as much, can benefit by using a scoop or two each morning.

I was probably no help at all!:)

Thanks guys I wasn't getting anything on this so I did a search and started reading some old threads on this. For the most part most seem to mention just to use the bars and drinks as a backup when you can't get to the real food. So I pretty much will search for some smoothie receipes and stick to Clean Food.
