Pregnant for the first time.....

I there all. I have been lurking for a while and must say I am fairly new to Cathe. VF introduced me to The Wedding Video and of course I had to buy Step Heat :) Love 'em!

Anyway I am at the beginning of my first trimester and have really appreciated this site and all the wonderful posts. I believe I am starting the dreaded morning sickness as well as the tiredness but otherwise I am elated. This will be the first grand child on both sides and our parents are thrilled. I must say I am a little scared which I'm sure is perfectly normal. I just wanted to announce that I am lurking and thank Sheila & Cathe on a great forum.

Regards,
M-A:eek:)

Congratulations!

Hi Margaret Ann! Just wanted to say congratulations on your first pregnancy and also welcome to the site. Yes, the first pregnancy is a little scarey but it is a "good" scarey and thats what gets you through it(not to mention all of the attention you will now get and how excited everyone is around you

). Please feel free to take advantage of this forum and ask us anything you need to know. While Sheila is the one who I trust with all of the technical questions, we all work together and support one another through this VERY special time in your life. Good luck and keep us posted!

Thanks Cathe,

I will keep everyone posted. I saw my doctor yesterday for the first time and was informed my due date is Feb 17th, 2001. So I'm pretty early still.

Feeling a little tired and I am craving black bean burritos and other very spicy dishes. I seem to have an aversion to meat also these days. I am still working out but taking it relatively easy.

I am currently reading a few of the books suggested on this forum. I am learning so much....Makes it easier to explain to family that I have a book that shows working out is good for the pregnancy.)

first pregnancy

Hi Margaret Ann,

Congratulations on your pregnancy! Sounds like, perhaps, you may be getting a little discouragement from exercising during pregnancy from family and friends. I received quite a bit of discouragement myself. But I kept on walking 5 miles per day (sometimes this was split up into 2.5 miles twice a day). Anyway, my friends and family were quick to make remarks that I should not be exercising. But guess what? I never had any of the usual pregnancy troubles, such as constipation, swelling, etc. Of course, much of this was luck, but I also think that mild to medium intensity exercise contributes to a healthier pregnancy. I also think walking is a great exercise during pregnancy just because (for me anyway) being outside is a real stress reliever.(considering it's not 100 degrees and terribly humid). And hey, you can work on naming the baby while you're walking. Hope you have a wonderful pregnancy!

Lisa
