I took a pregnancy test last night & it came back neg. I shouldn't get my period for about another week! Does anyone know if it still wouldn't show up or could you guys say that I probably am not pregnant? The pregnancy test I got said that it shows 5 days earlier! This will be my first & I've wanted a baby for years! I have 3 sisters and all have 11 kids between the 3 of them!! So I am excited about having a baby I love kids!! But this waiting wondering if you are or aren't is making me crazy!!! Thanks for all your help!!!

Stacy,

I think it is probably too early to tell yet. My + on an Early Response test didn't show up until about 2 days before my period was to begin and even then the line was so faint it was hard to see.

Also, try using first morning urine, it seems to have more of the pregnancy hormone in it (I know- I took my first test at night because I just couldn't wait any longer!:))

Good luck and keep us posted.

Stacy,

I agree with Wendy. You are testing very early, and the result is definitely not reliable. You are in the "2 Week Waiting" period that is like purgatory for women trying to get pregnant. Even though those early tests say you can test early, it's still quite rare for them to pick up a pregnancy this early on. Wait as long as you possibly can before taking another test, and only accept a "negative" result if you waited at least 14 days since you ovulated. And keep in mind that it doesn't matter how faint the line is, if there is a "positive" line, it means you're pregnant. It doesn't have to be bright.

I know how you feel, though. I wasted a lot of money on tests because I was so excited and impatient. Good luck!

I took a couple of tests a few days before my period was due (28 days after the last) and they all came back negative. The one I took the morning it was due was positive. The tests were supposed to be able to detect it a few days before day 28, but clearly that wasn't the case because I was (well, still am) pregnant and they all came back negative. So don't put much stock in an early negative. (Now an early POSITIVE, that's a different story...) But I know how you feel, I posted a very similar question here around that time. Five more days feels like an eternity to wait.
