Pregnancy Check-in Week of 1-18

Cathlete
Hi, guys. Hope everyone is feeling great. Still no morning sickness for me. :) I really, really hope that I don't experience that this time around.

Sunday: Step Blast all the way thru
Monday: CTX All Step (no weights)
Tuesday: CTX Step & Intervals (no weights)
Wednesday: Super Sets
Thursday: Cathe's new kickbox tape up til last 3 intervals at the end...boy this tape got harder once I got pregnant
Friday: Legs & Glutes (this one got harder too)

Does anyone have any suggestions on a good pilates ball workout? Has anyone tried Karen Voights Butt Legs & Thigh on the ball tape? It's only $10 at Target. I thought it might be a good one to try when I don't really want to stress my perineal area with weights as I start to get bigger.

Hi all,

Had an ok week this week as far as pregnancy and workouts go.
I'm just about ready to start needing maternity clothes and having troubles finding them cause I'm 5'9". The stores in town have a limited selection so I'm looking at online stores now. Hopefully I'll find some pants before the belly really comes. :)

Here's my week:

Sunday - Tone it Up
Monday - Mix It Up
Tuesday - Tear it Up
Wednesday - off
Thursday - walked
Friday - off
Saturday - Shape it Up

Hope everyone has a good week!

Hi ladies! I kind-of had a lot going on this week, but I did my best to get my workouts in. Here was my week:

Sun: Firm-Super Cardio Sculpt
Mon: off
Tues: Firm-Super Body Sculpt
Wed: Step Blast
Th: YogaMama
Fri: Firm-Max Body Sculpting
Sat: off (had a garage sale that day)

I'm missing Cathe but sometimes with all of the modifications from high impact, I can't get my heart rate high enough to feel like I am working out. :( It sounds to me like you girls are doing AWESOME!! I might try to incorporate some of the Slim Series into my schedule, too, Christy. I take it these work well for you?

Stacey - I have that DVD by Karen Voight and have never tried it!! I will try to preview it today and give you an idea if it will work with all of the "rules" that we have to contend with!! ;-)

Have a great week girls!! And keep up the great work!

Thanks! Let me know what you think. For the price, I don't think I can go wrong even if I only use it during the last 4 months of pg.

Christy:

Have you tried Old Navy or Gaps maternity line? They have an awesome return policy...you can take it back to the store rather than mailing it back if you have one near you...I would assume you do as they are a both a pretty large chain. My legs are a bit on the short side, and I always need to wear tall heals when I wear their pants--probably a 4 inch heal. But, since it's so close to summer, you might just want to go with cropped pants and then you wouldn't need to worry about the so much length. See if Gap offers Long & Lean in maternity as those fit my friends long legs.

Some stores even carry the maternity line. I live in Gig Harbor which is 45 minutes out of Seattle, WA. The Seattle Old Navy store carries them so I was planning on heading up there when I start to show so that I can see how it fits, and check out quality, etc.

Good luck!

Hi Sara,
I love the Slim Series! To be honest, I'm not a huge fan of going heavy with my weights. I also get bored easily when the workouts have you doing the same thing over and over again (take it from the top). The slim series offers enough variety that I don't get bored with them.

I've chosen to use them recently because I'm getting dizzy easier these days during my workouts. Doctor says that is because I have low blood pressure with this pregnancy. This series works me enough that I am breathing heavily but I don't get dizzy.

Prior to getting pregnant I toned up really, really nicely with the series. I dropped 2 pant sizes with them (was also watching the diet as well).

Hi Stacey,
Thanks for your reply.
I've tried Old Navy online. Although I have both of these stores in town, they don't carry maternity clothes.
I've ordered Old Navy pants before and they fit perfectly. I just placed an order for their maternity pants online so hopefully they will work well. I need pants for work - it's been hard becuase my work is picky about the style of clothes we wear (bank). Old Navy carries just a few long sizes. I'll probably end up with one of each color in every style they carry. :)
I'll give Gap.com a try. Hopefully I'll have some luck there. :)

Thanks!

Christy-just a warning on the gap maternity clothes-they run very big!!Look at naissancematernity.com-they have some really cool clothes. There stuff is very comfy too! There is also babystyle.com-they have nice stuff also.;) Have fun shopping!!:)

Thanks Christy! I actually did Tone It Up this morning!! It got my heart rate up nicely and my shoulders and legs felt pretty worked out!! Thanks for the tip! I figure if I alternate this type of workout with cardio, it will help me keep the weight down a little bit. I notice that when I slow down too much with just heavy weight work, especially when I'm pregnant, the weight just piles on!! Thanks again!

Hi Stacey! I just previewed the karen voight DVD. I have the "Ultimate Circuit Training" DVD which has the BLT workout on it. The whole workout is either on your belly or flat on your back using the ball. Unfortunately, I don't think that this one would be good to add during pregnancy - it might be good for after, especially when you are just getting back from your much deserved break. Just my opinion!! The rest of the DVD is pretty good, though. The step and the circuit portions would be a good addition during pregnancy. The steps seemed easily modified if you don't want to jump around alot. Good luck deciding! ;-)

smiley2,
Thanks for the head's up. I took a quick peek at babystyle.com and so far so good. It's cheap and trendy. Thanks much!
