Pre-Workout Eating

Hi everyone! Just a quick question. What do you all eat before working out with Cathe. Since grad school is over, I have gone back to working out (weights or circuit training) with Cathe in the AM. I always do fasted state cardio before breakfast. Anyways, I typically like to have 1/4 cup oatbran, 2 egg whites, 1/4 bluberries or raspberries, and 1/2 oz. almonds. This meal fills me up, but sometimes my stomach does get kinda sick. I wait 35-40 minutes to start my workout, but sometimes I still feel it. When do you exercise, what do you eat beforehand, does it ever make you sick? Thanks,

I can't eat a large meal before an intense workout so I usually drink a protein shake with some frozen fruit in it.
Sometimes I'll eat a yogurt with a scoop of protein powder.

I save my oatmeal for after my workout:)
 
Hi Kristen,

I need to eat something light or I get sick, too. Usually I'll have a toasted Thomas' Light Whole Wheat English muffin with maybe some almond butter on it about 20-30 minutes before I work out. I've experimented a bit, and this snack seems to give me energy to do my workout, without making me feel too full.:)
 
I usually eat 2 hard boiled egg whites or handful of almonds or a handful of dried dates. Just something light in my stomach 20-30 min. before I work out. I used to workout fasted, but I find that having something in my stomach is better for me.

If I workout early in the A.M. before work I don't have time to eat. I have to jump out of bed at 4:30 and head to the basement. If I workout after work I try to eat something light like fruit or a granola bar. On weekends when I workout in the late morning I'll have my Kashi cereal and coffee about an hour before I workout.

Depends on how hard I planh on working out. I *always* have something light at least.
If it is a real heavy day (where Im working on something for size or mass), then I will often have a protien shake 30 mintues before heavy weights, then another 30 minutes after (that way they are about 2-2.5 hours apart... but that's when Im real hardcore Rambo about the lifting and the results hee.

Otherwise on regular days I have lite carbs.. cereal, toast, almonds, oatmeal, bar..
 
Like Allison I too am up at th einsane hour of 4:30am , who knew there was life then?
I can't workout on an empty stomach, although I used to. I down 1 scoop of Muscle Milk, then eat about 30 - 45 minutes after a 75 min workout.
My afvorite flavors are anything Chocolate!! Although Rocky Road wasn't to appealing to me. PB Choc & Caramel Choc some of the best!!
