has anyone out there had or heard of this condition? my blood pressure was totally normal until the day i delivered. then, after dlivery, it shot up and has stayed high since. my dr will reevaluate tomorrow but in the time being is restricting anything i do. it is frustrating as i feel completely normal, really good in fact. i am just concerned and cannot find much info on this. thanks for any help you guys can provide.

No words of wisdom for you, hopefully your doc will give you more info. Have you run an internet search on postpartum hypertension? How frustrating!

internet scared the heck out of me last night. all kinds of stories of women who had persistent hypertension post delievery, for months and months. but i went back to the dr today and it was much better. not normal, but way down. i am still supposed to take it easy, which is frustrating as i feel ready to get back into some exercise, but at least they are no longer pushing me toward meds. hopefully it will stay down for the next week and i can get started getting back in shape!

Hey Morris,

While waiting in my Dr's office yesterday I was reading an old issue of Parents magazine. In the magazine it said during pregnancy to go to the dentist because sometimes while pregnant a bacteria forms in the mouth and has the possibility to cause post partum hypertension. The teeth and gums get strange while pregnancy, so I don't know if that helps any?

That was all the info it gave. Just thought I would share that.
Again, don't know if it helps any.

Hope you get to feeling better soon,
Jana

thanks jana. i did go to the dentist back during my 4th month, but if it doesn't stay down, i will call the sentist. so far i still feel great. went for a nice treadmill walk this morning, and it feels good to move! now for that nap....

thanks again.

Hey Morris,

When I read that I went wow, I have got to post that. I am sure it is very scary to have this happen and I do hope it goes away and was just "one of those crazy things".

It is good to hear you are feeling better and were able to get on the treadmill today.

I know you have already had your mind full while waiting for your new little guy, so again hopefully this will go away.

Please do let us know how you are feeling and, my best wishes to you and your family.

Jana
