Hi mommies,

Sorry, I am late starting this check-in, but I am sure you all know how demanding a newborn can be ;-) .

Little Miss Heidi is doing very well and eats like a champ. She is smiles a lot when she sleeps not so much yet than she is awake. She is just so precious!!!

I went last Thursday to give my manager my 2 week notice and that was really really hard. I have such a good team I am working with and I know I will miss them all very much, but Heidi is so worth for me to stay home :7 . Is everybody else going back to work or are there some stay home moms?

Here are my workouts from last week:

Sun - off
Mon - Low Impact Step
Tue - Total Body Sculpting
Wed - off
Thu - Butts and Gutts Standing Leg Work only
Fri - cleaned the house
Sat - off

I sure enjoy getting back into working out and it sure helps to do something just for me for a change ;-) . While I workout, Heidi swings in her swing, so that I have an uninterrupted workout.

Hope everybody is doing well
Kristine :)

Hi Kristine!
I know how hard it is to decide to leave your job. I worked full time after I had my son Alex, and throughout my pregnancy with Emma. I decided to stay home full time after I had Emma as the cost of day care plus commuting to work every day just didn't make sense for us. It's the best decision I ever made and I feel very blessed to be able to be home with my little ones. In a few years, I'll look for some part time work when the kids are a bit older. The whole work/life balance is a big issue for moms and certainly choosing to work or not to can be very stressful I think.

You are doing awesome with your workouts! I have my 6 week post partum check up on Feb. 13. As soon as I get the okay from my doctor, I'll resume my cardio and strength training work outs. I'm going to get the Low Impact Step dvd for my b-day in March and plan on rotating it with Basic step for awhile till I regain my fitness level. I also have some good beg/int. workout dvd's from other instructors I'll use for a while until I feel stronger. Right now, just doing some very gentle postnatal workout dvd's (mostly stretching, kegels, and transverse abdominus work).

Ryan is doing so well, he's a very calm little baby and so sweet. He's starting to take in more at his feeding which is helping him to sleep in a longer stretch. I'm definitely looking forward to getting longer blocks of sleep! Speaking of which, time for me to nap while he's napping and my other kids are watching a movie!

Can't wait to hear from the other new mommies too. Hope you are all doing well:)

Hi Girls,

I don't think I seen this check in before! How weird is that?

Well, I started working out last week but it hasn't been consist. How can it be? Everyday is a new day and everything depends on how much sleep you got the night before. It helps to get a nap in the afternoon but that doesn't always happen.

Rylan is doing great and he also loves to eat. Last week I had 2 nights where he didn't get up until 5! But now he is back to a horrible schedule of eating at 1, 3 and 6. By the time he feeds, gets changed and goes to sleep , I probably only get an hour and then we are up again. I think he may be going through a growth spurt though so maybe thats why he is eating so much.
So far there have been no fussy times in the day time and he passes so much gas that he never cries. I keep my fingers crossed that it stays that way.

Kristine, I put Rylan in his swing today while I worked out and he went right to sleep. I managed to get a shower before he started crying.Actually, when I turned the shower off he was crying, so I don't know when it started for sure:) So you are a SAHM now? I don't think I could do that. I have a yr off and I think thats going to be long enough. But I also know that it will break my heart to go back to work and leave him with a sitter. I wish my MIL would retire so she could watch him.

Stacy, I started working out before my 6 weeks check up. I just feel good and I didn't have any stitched so I wanted to get back at it and I did. He will be 4 weeks tomorrow but I have only done 3 workouts in the last week. I am trying to get into a regular routine this week though. I also haven't had a chance to try my new workouts, Im looking forward to that.

How is the weight loss going? I have 18 lbs to lose. Not to bad considering that I lost 26 lbs with no effort. Its funny how I thought it was going to fall off and I would look exactly how I did before the baby:) What planet was I on? I can't fit into any of my clothes yet so I am still wearing these stupid maternity pants! And none of my tops fit b.c my chest went from a B to a D. Needless to say, Im not size small right now. Im breastfeeding so I am waiting for the morning to come when I just get up and Ive lost 5 lbs but then again, I think i am going to be one of those people who hangs on to the fat to keep the milk a comm'in!

Anyway, enough chatting. I think the little man is waking up and his mouth starts going when that happens! LOL

Hello!
Lori, loved your post! So true about the weight loss. I've lost 24 pounds with really doing nothing but modifying my eating (i.e. getting out of the pig out on everything mode!) and chasing around my two toddlers;) I am still waiting to fit into my prepreggo clothes too! I would like to lose about 20 pounds more. I'm now about 4 1/2 weeks post partum and seriously thinking about just starting some light cardio workouts. I feel restless, and even though I'm tired I think it would be nice to start moving around again! I put a call into my doctor to make sure she's okay with that. Then after my 6 week check up I'll resume strength training and abdominal workouts.

Ryan is basically getting up about twice a night and then does have an early morning wake up (5 am or so). He will sit in the swing for short periods of time and does like his activity mat and bouncy chair. He's so far very calm, and sleeps/eats well. Such a sweetheart!

Okay, I'm really glad to hear you all have started cardio again, think I'll try to get 3 cardio workouts in this week. Wish me luck!

Talk to you all soon:)

Stacy, my post was so long and I wasn't sure if anyone was going to read it all!:) I have to say, people with more then one small child amaze me. I think about having another one and I don't know how I would cope with a baby and a toddler running around. I have a friend who is having her 3rd and her other 2 are 4 and 3! I think it is taking its toll on her marriage but I still don't know how they do it. Anyway....same goes for you. You must be a saint!!!!:) :) :) So, if you get three workouts in this week, then I would pat myself on the back.
Ryan sounds alot like Ryan. Its nice to have a good baby. Again, I don't know how people cope when they have crying babies either! LOL

Well, i went to Burps today ( a place mothers take their babies to get weighed and chat) and Rylan was 9 lbs 5 oz! I thought he was over 9 lbs but its nice to know he is gaining. It was also nice to be around other mothers, or just people who speak! LOL Then my in laws came here for dinner and after that I went for a nap and I feel alot better now. I know the night time feedings won't be as hard now.

Anyway, no workout today b/c I was to busy but I am getting one in tomorrow for sure. Oh...the scale was also down another pound!

Lori:)

Stacey - I am having my 6 week check up next Thursday. I thought I start with some light workouts and after I get the ok from my Dr. I am going back to more intensity. But I just had to start doing something because I started feeling restless as well and I think light workouts are fine just listen to your body.

Lori - Yes, I am a SAHM now and I really enjoy it!!! I am still a little sad about quitting my job, because I really miss my team, but that shall pass.
The swing works wonders, doesn't it. ;-)
Your post wasn't too long. I always enjoy to hear from you and see how things are going.

Well, the weight loss is not going anywhere really. I lost 30 pounds in the first week after delivery and that's there I am stuck now. I would like to loose another 20 pounds.
Lori, I am in the same boat, not that I didn't know that I won't be back to my normal weight and fitting in my clothes right away, but somehow kind of hoping I would, how silly!!! :p

Heidi is doing really well, she also weighs over 9 lbs. now, wow, they really grow so fast!!! And the best thing of all, she now sleeps 5-6 hours at night!!!!!!
About two days ago she starting making all kind of noises and she started to laugh, it is so adorable and it makes my heart melt!!!

Alright, I better go to check on her.

Kristine :)

Hi Kristine,

Im glad you are happy with your decision to stay at home. I think I will be sad to go back but at the same time it will be nice to socialize with adults. But I have until the end of Oct or the beginning of Nov so I have a little time yet.

They are so cute when they start smiling and laughing. Rylan is in the best mood in the morning and he tries to talk to me when I am changing him and bathing him. He is so cute and such a good baby. I am really enjoying him and I hope everyday that he stays a good baby:) :)

I can't beleive your baby sleeps 5-6 hours at night! Thats great. I had a couple of good nights last week where he didn't wake up until 5 to be feed. But he must be going through a growth spurt b/c he as been waking up ever 2 hours. The night time feedings this week have been rough and I have been having naps during the day.

I read the other day that we should give ourselves 9 monthes to a yr to lose the weight we gained....ah....I don't think so!}( I have 18 lbs to go but I would like to get down to 125 instead of 130. But I think I will feel pretty slim at 130 so that will be o.k with me. I don't feel like I have 20 to lose though. Its also hard b/c I can't fit into any of my tops b/c my boobs are so big!

I did another good workout today and Im taking it a little easier as well. It will be nice when the snow melts and I can get outside with him.

Alright, I should get going. Have a good one!
Lori:)
