Post partum check-in May 13th

Happy Mother's Day! Life is slowing down again & I feel priviledged to post this weeks check-in! I can tell that not only has my life been hectic, but YOURS has been to b/c our group is dwindling. Perhaps we are all lurking around but just haven't had the time to actually post? I check in often even if I don't post. ;)

DH is finally out of hospital. It was pretty tough with 3 kids and no family around. I asked my retired MIL to come and stay with kids & she just laughed at me. :( Urgh. I just don't understand that lady. DH spent 4 days in hospital, and at one point they thought his herpes zoster (shingles) virus he obtained LAST Feb reached his brain (viral meningitis was ruled out by a spinal tap & encephalitis ruled out with MRI). It was nail biting to just wait & prayer. I believe in the power of prayer b/c ALL tests came back normal & DH was discharged the next day! Yeah!

Our 2 year old has oral surgery this Wednesday, so this week will also be nailbiting. If you can remember little Justin in your prayers that'd be wonderful! He's getting two teeth capped & a root canal.

The weather here in MN has been yucky. Lots of gloomy cold days. I have decided to sell my double jogger I just purchased b/c I want one with bigger wheels. It's sturdy, folds easily,...it's just not quite as fun with the 16" wheels. If anyone's interested it's on eBay.

Melanie- hope the surgery goes well and that your husband is on the mend. That makes for a rough week. I'll be thinking of you. Your fitness week was great considering the stress factors.

My week:
Monday: 1 hour, 10 minutes at the gym (mostly reading magazines on the stairmaster)
Tuesday: 2 1/2 mile run, with lots and lots of stair running
Wednesday: CIA 2303 (Keli ROberts circuit/step)
Thursday: nothing
Friday: Step Jam, some pilates
Satu: nothing
Sun: some of KPC

My week was just turned upside down- daycare just called suspecting Gus has thrush, which means he cannot be there today or tomorrow.

Hi fitmoms!!

Melanie I am definitely going to email you. I am glad to hear your husband is back home. I was sorry to hear about his illness. Glad the children are all doing great. Yes, i have reached my weightloss goals! now just working on building some muscle..;o)

I worked out about 5 times last week. I did circuits and running.

Kristan-sorry to hear about Gus having thrush. his pediatrician should be able to give you and him something to clear it up really quickly.

Kristi- how is the running going? when is your first race?

Hello to all that follow.

**Of course, leave it to me to post this in the wrong Post Partum check-in. So please ignore if you have already seen this.**

Happy late Mother’s Day!!

This week went well. I’m down another 1.5 pounds which leaves me only 5 more pounds to go. Once I reach that point then I will see if I want to lose any more, but I will be happy with where I am regardless. Here is my week in a nutshell with exercise. I gave my heel a break from running and it is paying off. I ran for the first time Saturday and it felt great, but I still plan to take it easy for a few more weeks just to be on the safe side. In the meantime I’ve been focusing more on weight training.

Monday – Muscle Endurance
Tuesday – Rhythmic Step (only 25 minutes because heel was bothering me)
Wednesday – Leaner Legs
Thursday – 1 section Stretch Max
Friday – Power Hour
Saturday – Ran 3.5 miles at a slow, steady pace
Sunday – Ran 2 miles w/DS in baby jogger

On a happy note, DD will have her surgery Wednesday morning to get tubes. I’m both a little nervous about the surgery and them using gas to put her under, but so excited that from all the people that have told me their kids had tubes and it worked for them that she should be so much better.

Melanie – I’m so sorry to hear how chaotic things have been for you lately, especially since MIL would not lend a hand to help while DH was in the hospital. You must have been so scared while DH was dealing with all of those tests and what may have showed up on them. I’m so glad to hear that the tests came back normal and DH is doing better. Good luck with Justin’s oral surgery Wednesday. It must be so hard to be so little and have so much dental work to be done. Prayers are coming your way. Good luck selling your baby jogger. BTW, your workouts look great!

Kristan – Your workouts look good! I’m sorry to hear that Gus might have thrush. It is so hard to deal with sick babies, daycare, & time off work. I sympathize with you. I hope Gus gets better soon.

Annette – I don’t have access to an elliptical. Actually, I’m hoping to buy one maybe by the end of summer so I can cross train with running. Way to go on your running mileage from last week.

PennStater – Welcome and Congratulations on your new addition! I'm sure you will find your own personal schedule that will work for you and your little one. You will be working out in no time. Good luck at your doctor's appointment. Are you going to be able to stay at home or will you need to return back to work?

SunnyD - How are things going with you? I think my first race will be July 4th, but I'm not sure on that. I might do a 5K before then if I find one that I might like. My half marathon is August 27 in Columbus, OH. I haven't officially signed up for it yet, but I plan to in June.

Kristi
55 total pounds lost/45 of those postpartum/5 more to go!

Kristi - that is awesome that you are getting so close to your goal weight!! I hope the heal continues to get better. I think the eliptical is great for cross training and giving the ol' joints a break! I hope DD does great with the tubes!

Kristan - That stinks about Gus's thrush. I didn't know that thrush was contagous? I guess I really know nothing about thrush. But I know how hard it is to deal with sick little ones and daycare. Hope he gets better quickly.

Pennstater - welcome! It was almost impossible for me to workout on a regular basis early on! Still difficult at times. Actually going back to work has given me more structure and made it a little easier. Not that I wouldn't rather be home with the little one, but working out is easier at lunch here than at home! Hope you find a schedule that works for you!

Melanie - so glad your dh is better!! I hope everyone gets to 100% soon! Haven't started using the jogging stroller yet. It says to wait until she is 6 months so I have a little over two months to go to start using it. Soon I will be pushing her along!

My workouts were....

Sunday - ran 3.5, walked 1
Monday - IMAX
Tuesday - Kick, punch, crunch
Wednesday - rest
Thursday - rest
Friday - circuit training 1 hour
Saturday - Step, Jump, Pump
Sunday - eliptical 45 minutes

Hope everyone had a great mother's day!

Hi all -

Melanie - oh my goodness - I'm so glad to hear your DH is home! It must have been really tough to 'single-parent' through all that! I'm shocked at your MIL's response - is that the way she usually is? Wasn't she worried about your DH, too? Geez, she could at least have offered to come over and make dinner, or something.

I'll be sending lots of good thoughts and comfort vibes to you and Kristi today. I hope everything goes quickly and that you're both home dishing out the TLC soon!!

I haven't worked out in weeks - we've been packing and working on our house. Yes, we're moving as soon as we can find a house. We've taken trips (4 hours away) to look at EVERY property available in our price range, with no luck. I'm waiting to hear today if I can get in to see one that just came out yesterday - DH can't go, but I'm planning on running out there myself if the agent can arrange it. We're all tired, and I'd like to get something SOON! On the upside, because we have so much packed, the kids can't really mess up our house too much :) I need to remember this lesson when I start unpacking at the other end and give half of everything away! We'd probably be a much neater family :)

I'll try to check in to see how everything went today - take care, all - Happy workouts to everyone!
