Hey Moms, Happy Valentines Day!

Sienna is napping soundly :)...

Here are last weeks workouts for me, if anyone else is keeping track I'd love to see what you're up to. It motivates me to see what others are doing and to know that I'm going to put my log here.

The running has really helped, I've seen my waist come back and my arms are beginning to shrink a bit. No diff on the scale yet so I took my measurements last week, we'll see how that pans out.

MON- run 00:30:00
TU-walk 00:40:00
WED-run 00:32:00
THU-walk 00:40:00
FRI-snow run 00:35:00
FRI-weights 00:15:00

Hello hello,

Nico slept for 9 hours last night (these long sleep periods are w/o him waking up even once). I feel like a new person :) He went through many sleep strikes - you could say that his old normal was a strike w/a few days of napping sprinkled in. But that was before this week!

He sleeps with the swing on full blast. If it stops or slows down he wakes up immediately. I wait about 20 minutes to transfer him from bouncer to swing - that's theoretically how long it takes babies to get into deep sleep. We have a white noise machine next to the swing in our bedroom which we leave on 24/7 so that whenever we can put him down there's already a noise in the room. He LOVES noise and has trouble with quiet, whether he's awake or asleep. Action movies and epic soundtracks work like a sedative on him. During his sleepless days putting him in front of whatever was on TV - like Predator or Lord of the Rings - something noisy - just knocked him out. he would wake up during the dialog and sleep through the gunfire, etc.

Sooo ... lemme see if I can remember my recent workouts:

M: elliptical 1 hour, abs; afternoon elliptical 1 hour, lower body weights 15 min.
T: elli 1 hour, abs; afternoon elli 45 min.
W: elli 1 hour, abs; afternoon elli 45 min. upper body weights 20 min.

That's pretty much my pattern, but when it's warm enough Nico and I walk in the morning. I also do a cathe dvd once in awhile ... maybe today :)

How did Sienna do w/her first intro to daycare? Or rather, how did you do, Steph? You stayed this time though, right?

It sounds like Tamal is quite the diner! I hope he lets you have some extra breaks pretty soon. Do you ever give him bottles of breastmilk?

Well - I'm off to see if Nico will let me workout again ...

Take care,

I am so jealous that Nico sleeps through the night. I cant wait for LJ to do that. He is getting better though. Our little one sleeps in the swing also. He sleeps better there than anywhere else. We put the little heartbeat box next to him while he sleeps and it seems to work.

I have still been trying to do 3-4 days a week of working out. Unfortunatly some days by the evening I am exhausted and cant muster up the energy to go to the basement and work out.

sunday: 4day split high intensity step with weights
tuesday:cadio from LIC
friday: either bootcamp from 4day split or step pump jump
saturday : up in the air if i will have time maybe butts and gutts

I feel guilty and I should be doing more. I definatly know i still have weight around my midsection that wasnt there before. :)

Hope everyone is doing well and babies are doing good.

Arancini, I'm jealous of Nico too! It looks like all the sleep strikes you suffered through are really turning around, that's wonderful. I just broke out our white noise again, she likes the ocean and vacuum cleaner. :)

We start the daycare transition tomorrow. We put it off b/c Sienna wasn't feeling well and her sleep schedule was out of whack. The last 5 nights it's been pretty tough to get her down by 11pm. Her late to bed has added a morning nap that overlaps the time she was supposed to be in daycare. I decided she needed her sleep to get better. So far it has worked, tonight has been much better. I just got her down and she was in a chipper playful mood for most of the evening until she became over tired. She also had a 2 hour nap this afternoon so I was able to mall walk AND walk outside in the sun. Awesome.

Anyway, I think I'll be fine, I'm feeling less emotional about the transition. Maybe my hormones have leveled out, I dunno. But I'll let you know how it goes.

Melissa, your doing great for 8 weeks post partum. Those are some agressive workouts. I'll have to check in to the 4 day split, but I've been trying not to buy any new DVDs. I wind up DVR-ing fit TV and playing it back, that works pretty well.

Manmohini, I love the "breastaurant" comment. Maybe Tamal needs to know that his breastaurant isn't open 24 hours. You're a total trooper to be soothing him with the extra sucking, though I know we'll all do just about anything to get our sleep! I hope things change before you have to go back to work.

I think we have 16 days to reach the 100. :)

My heart really goes out to you steph. I know that if i had to put my little one in daycare I would have a really (REALLY) Hard time going back to work. I think i would cry more than he would. LOL. But, i am sure once you transition and get use to it, it will be great for the both of you. I am thinking that when i have to go to work i am going to be sad, but in the same respect it will be nice to be with adults and socializing again. It will make coming home even more rewarding knowing i get to see him. I think its really hard these days to have a home and a car and live off of one income. Especially with a baby and every other daily expenses these days. Anyway I hope sienna is feeling better. LJ had 2 days of wanting to get off his sleep scheduale, It was terrible for the both of us. I am glad it was short lived.

I also got a chuckle out of the breasteraunt comment. That is cute. I usually refer to myself as the house cow. Somedays you think that they can never get enough. It really is a lot of work and requires some patience. but, totally worth it.

Hey there,

Well, I'm glad to hear that Sienna seems to be feeling more like herself ... keep us posted about daycare :)

Melissa - you are doing great! Every week will get easier (at least it seems to be that way so far - Nico's 12, almost 13 weeks, so I'm no expert yet). Hopefully, LJ will start sleeping through the night soon. Nico really was not sleeping until this week, so LJ will probably start sooner than that! Nico, by all accounts, seems to have been unusually stubborn about not wanting to sleep much.

I still have a lot of weight to lose ... I want to lose the weight I gained w/my 2 miscarriages before Nico, too ... so I still have to get from 157 to 125 (I was really 115 before, but I would be happy with 125). By the time I delivered Nico I was close to 190! My weight loss seems to go in waves, one week one pound, another 2 pounds, another none but my dimensions seem to be shrinking, even if the scale doesn't change.

Have a great weekend everyone! Say hello to Tamal, LJ and Sienna :)

Maybe the sleep talk is rubbing off...Sienna slept 9 straight hours last night. WOW!!! I was thrilled, but my bbs were killing me. Had to pump before she nursed. But, I will gladly pump before bedtime if she keeps this up.

We also had our first night out at a nice restaurant with her, she did very well considering it was her colicky time. We just decided to finally go for it and accepted that we might have to get a doggy bag and go home. She was a trooper, held it together until the ride home. :)

We spent 2 hours at her daycare on Friday. I was glad we did, it made me see things in a new light there and I think I can work around some of the things that bothered me. She's the youngest there, and the other babies are crawling or walking so I just want to be sure they don't fall on her. I saw a lot of falling. :-(

She's one of just 2 girls and little so they said she'll be getting lots of attention b/c she's cute and they all want to hold her -- I hope so. I was there on a day when they combined 2 classrooms, most days they don't do that so she shouldn't get lost in the crowd, but it did seem crowded.

When we arrived it was nap time and she was asleep so it was a nice slow acclimation. When she woke up the ladies were sweet to her and the boys were all curious but gentle. She fussed and got scared a couple of times but that's normal. Her cry is loud enough that someone will rush to quiet her, never thought I'd be glad that she has a loud cry! If she gets cranking she's pretty tough to console, so I imagine I'll be spending time giving them tips on how to keep her happy. They all seem fairly receptive, so we'll see.

Melissa, you're luycky that LJ will be with his grandma! Sienna is so young now that it's tough to imagine her there (in a crowd), but I think in 3 months we'll be glad that she's learning from the other kids and being socialized, not to mention building her immunity (lots of runny noses!).

I know I'm going to cry the first day I have to leave her. Everyone I know has said they cried the first day, your handing your baby over to other people and trusting that she'll be okay. It's a pretty emotional thing!

Manmohini, who will be caring for Tamal when you go back? How much longer do you have?

Hope everyone is having a good weekend so far, take care.

Steph
