Post partum check-in Dec 18th

Cathlete
Hi ladies!!! I'm about 3.5 weeks post partum & feeling great. I have somewhere between 10-15lbs to lose & I'm VERY ANXIOUS to begin to lose it!! Oh! How I long for my jeans!!!

I plan on beginning on Christmas Day, I may begin a couple days earlier. A great friend of mine gave me Turbo Jam Cardio Parties as a gift, so I'll start off with that...then I plan on doing a rotation. I have several printed off, so all I have to do is pick one. Here are a couple I have in mind:

Feb 2005 rotation --Cardio Blast
Dec 2003 rotation --Body Blast Series
Jan 2003 rotation --New Years Resolution rotation
Jan 2004 rotation --self titled

Anyone interested in joining me? You can find the rotation links under "ROTATION" forum. I will be begining one Christmas Day!!! All these are aimed at weight loss (holiday wt loss), so I figure it'd be perfect for baby wt loss too.

BTW, baby Jadon is doing perfectly. As far as I can tell he weighs about 7 lbs now. He's a great nurser, but sometimes his lower lip curls under instead of out when nursing. We'll have to work on that. His newborn sized clothes are fitting him better now, but are still very roomy. I purchased a couple more newborn outfits.

I'm so excited! I bought him a Maya Wrap. Anyone have one? He's too tiny for Baby Bjorn yet...& this one will be nursing friendly in public. It should arrive in mail on Monday.

We found a SUPER cute blankie for him Christmas. They make AWESOME presents for new babies. Check it out if interested: http://www.growwithme.com/babyblankets1.html

That's about it. :D Happy holidays! And remember: STAY AWAY FROM THOSE COOKIES!!!!!!!!!!!!

Melanie- Gus does the same thing with his lip-- I tease that he is a 'lazy' nurser and that my nipples are so pliable that he doesn't have to work that hard (or use proper form) when nursing. I cannot believe he's already 7 weeks. It goes by too fast.

Let me know how the wrap is. I am sick of the baby bjorn; it makes my back hurt! It just seems akward to me.

I'm not real good on keeping up with rotations but do check them for ideas. So, i may be joining you on occasion.

I went to the gym and ran a mile on the treadmill and did about another hour of cardio. I was SHOCKED on how well I felt cardiovascularly. I think my body had to work so much harder when pregnant that I am ahead of myself now. I had a c/section and my stomach is a mess, so the "ab work" I did this week was pretty sloppy. I'm about where I was pre 3rd pregnancy, but that isn't good enough. I want to be where I was pre FIRST baby!

Here was my week:
Monday: All Step with shoulders, abs
Tuesday: low max
Wednesday: 10-10 (skipped hi/lo), CTX triceps, chest
Thursday: Power interval, ctx abs, back, some planks
Friday: nothing
Saturday: 1 hour cardio at gym
Sunday: plan to do "Fat Burning Pilates" or "On the Ball Pilates"

Have a good week! Kristan

Kristan, when did you begin your workouts? Are you doing ab work? If so, when did you begin it? Have you lost all your weight from the last pg then? Way to go!!!
Boy, am I nosey or what?!?!? ;)

time sure does go by quickly..seems like i was just on here complaining about my back pains and now jaden will be 4mths old on wed. he is getting so big, he already weighs about 15 lbs. i will know def. on the 27th when he has his 4 mth check-up.

last week i did really good. i worked out 5 out of 7 days and really watched what i ate. except for one thurs..we had a ice storm, our power was out for 10 hrs and we had wendy's for dinnerx( . however that didn't stop me from loosing 2.5 lbs this week...woohooo!!

i don't think i will join in any rotations unless jan's looks really good. because i don't have all the tapes in the rotations and can't afford to purchase any right now. i think starting jan. 1 i will do a ctx rotation. this will be my first time using the ctx dvd's as i purchased them while i was pg.

as for staying away from the cookies...i will make Christmas day my cheat day...LOL

Hello Ladies, it's nice to catch up with you all!!!

My week actually went really well and I"m proud of my progress so far.

Monday - Pyramid Upper Body at gym - 1 hour

Tuesday - nada

Wednesday - nada

Thursday - Pyramid Lower Body at gym plus floor work & abs - 1 hour 25 min

Friday - nada

Saturday - Pyramid Upper Body up only & abs - 45 min

Sunday - Pyramid Lower Body down only, floor work, 150 walking lunges & abs 1 hour 10 min

So things are going great. My focus is to regain my strength that I lost, so fat burning and cardio aren't a focus here. If I got extra time in the week my goal is to thow in some cardio but havn't had the time yet. My weights are steadily going up and I'm quite happy with that. I hope to get my lower body up to it's previous capacity weight lifting wise in another 6-8 weeks. Then I'm gonna focus on endurance work and cardio (running) - actually I'm gonna try the freestyle workouts for about 8 weeks once I've gained my strength back.

Melanie: I started walking at about 2 weeks, doing really easy stuff (bike, etc) at 3 weeks and everything else at 4 weeks.

My ab work is sloppy at best and I take it really easy because the dr. said to be super careful.

I am not sure about how much weight I have lost, but I had about 7 pounds to go at 4 weeks post partum. That said, that's 7 pounds to obtain my prepreg weight, not my ideal weight. Believe me, this all sounds much better than I actually look! I am aiming to be my pre-baby#1 weight.

It's so hard to type with one hand! MAddie is doing great after a few bad weeks--basically, she gained no weight from discharge after losing 12 oz from birth. We had to supplement her with formula and pumped breast milk for the past week and she gained 9 oz so I think we are on track. I really enjoy bfing & her latch is great but I think my supply is inadequate. I am on reglan but I don't feel like it's working. Anyone experience this??

When do you think I can work out again? tomorrow is 3 weeks and I feel great (tired and frazzled are the biggest problems). I am still bleeding but not heavy. I don't see the dr for 3 more weeks but i think I am ready to workout again. what do you all think?

Time to feed again--its always time to feed....

Monica, I began to workout yesterday. :( I'm sure my dr would not be happy with me, but I"m taking it super easy. I'm not bleeding...or I should say I'm hardly bleeding (I'm able to use one pantyliner for entire day, which collects a couple of drops).

Kristan, thanks for sharing. That's awesome that you're within 7lbs of prepregnancy weight. You'll have to share with me, how far apart is #1 & #3? I know I"ll never be as small as I was with #1 (that was 12 years ago). I had a "teenage" type body then. Now I have a womanly body. Kohl's had some yoga pants on sale, and I grabbed a couple of pairs thinking they'd be nice transition pants. When I got home & tried them on I right away knew they were "juniors". Hip-huggers. The type of pants that when you bend over the crack of your butt shows. Too funny. I tried to wear them, thinking I'd get used to them. Not a chance!!!

Julie, you are doing so awesome. We're so different exercise-wise. I despise weight work & am a cardio junkie. It seems you're the opposite? I will be doing leg work though as my thighs are a couple inches bigger then they were. I'm sure running & step will shred those inches in no time though!!!

Keep up the good work ladies!! And remember: NO EGG NOG OR CHOCOLATE COVERED PRETZELS!!!! J/K of course. ;)

Melanie- Kay is 5, Audrey is 3 and Gus is 7 weeks. For good yoga pants, try Old Navy and Target. I really like the ones I just got at Target- full coverage. I probably couldn't get my leg in a junior's size. kristan

Yeah, I've always enjoyed weight lifting so much more than cardio (though I love kickboxing, and have come to really enjoy running). There is some ego element to it knowing I can lift in a way most girls/women can't. ;) But the other thing is I don't have weight I have to get off right now (though have a layer of fat I'd like to blast off!), and strength is something I really lost being on bedrest - so that's why I'm concentrating so much on the weights right now.

Kristan, I know it's a little early BUT so far, is it easier having 3 or 2 years in between kids? Curious in case we decide to squeeze in another kid before I turn 35. ;)

For me at least, having them 2 years apart (actually 22 months) was easier. #1 didn't even blink at #2. It was physically more demanding (carrying kids, diapers, etc) but mentally easier. 3 year olds, I joke, are like drunk roommates in college-- funny and joyful one minute, in tears, on the floor, and making no sense the next. That's my experience anyway. Actually, I just turned 35 and figure that if I want a 4th, it's better start sooner rather than later. Kristan

Melanie – You cardio junkie, you! Laughed at your description of the yoga pants – I get really annoyed with what they sell as ‘exercise-wear’, when you can’t really do anything in them without exposing too many body parts!

Kristan – I agree with your comment about pregnancy keeping your cardio levels up – I had felt the same way while lugging that belly around - just getting dressed could be considered aerobic. And how 3 yo’s are like drunk roommates – HA!!! That is too funny – and so true!

Sunny – good job on the weight loss – you sound like you’re really on track and working hard. You deserve your cheat day, so enjoy those cookies!! I can’t believe it’s been 4 months for you already – time sure does fly by!

Julie – A big WOW for you! Great workouts.

Monica- ‘It’s always time to feed’ That’s how I’ve been feeling these days, too. Can’t get anything done without stopping for a feeding… I’ve been waiting for the bleeding to stop to workout, but it sounds like the other ladies are okay, so maybe that’s too conservative. DH doesn’t want me to do anything before 6 weeks, but I feel good – the bleeding is kind of annoying, though. I have fibroid issues, and wonder if that’s why it’s taking so long to go away?

I haven’t done any real workouts. Running around getting all the Christmas stuff done has been fairly time consuming. I call Gillian a ‘Milk Dud’ – she falls asleep after nursing for about 7 minutes…I can’t get her to go any longer, yet. She ends up eating in about three short sessions spread out over 45 minutes every 2-3 hours. Not my idea of an ideal schedule! Hopefully she’ll grow out of this soon.

I took all three kids (3 yo, 2 yo and 1 mo) to a well child checkup (2 yo). As an added surprise, they had flu shots available for the older two, so we added that on to the appt. Took almost 2 hours, but we survived. Talk about chaos, though!! I need more work on my 3-children parenting skills, I think! Is it always going to be this hard? (Please give me hope – lies will work fine at this point!!)

Oh well – hope the week is a good one for everyone. I’m going to try to work out tomorrow. We’ll see if that happens.

Hi Gracenote! Glad you're doing so well this week. I think it's great that you are relaxing. The rule of thumb is 6 weeks postpartum prior to working out. You're also supposed to follow the speed limit and never tell a lie. Okay, I'm in a justification mood (only b/c I began to workout before 6 weeks). If you can wait 6 weeks, go for it!

As far as bleeding goes, I certainly bleed lots less with my CSections. With my vaginal delivery I bled for 6 full weeks--and pretty heavy. I was as active then as I am now, so it must be delivery route.

I cannot give any advice as far as 3 kids goes. Since my oldest one is 11, it doesn't really seem fair to compare your ages!!! You certainly do have your hands full! I'm learning with the two little ones which is challenging enough! Do you have a triple stroller? How did you take all three to dr? Wow. I"m really impressed. :D

Sunny, I too wanted to commend you on your weight loss. Great job & keep up the good work.

i literally hang out in my workout clothes and as soon as jaden goes to sleep i run into our home gym to workout.

you ladies are all awesome:)
