Hi Mommies,

Had a better week so I'm happy to post my workouts. I'm taking a page from Arancini and upping my workouts to an hour when possible. :) Also adding in weights here and there, it all adds up right? We'll see if this makes a difference for me. Hope so!!

MON-am walk 40:00
MON-pm bike trainer intervals 40:00
TUE- off (early bed) 00:00
WED- interval run+abs 46:00
THU-ab medicine ball 10:00
FRI-walk 1:05
FRI-pilates weights 15:00
SAT-zen weights 20:00
SAT-interval bike + ab floor 1:00
SUN-interval bike+ab floor 1:00

Total: 5:56

I've been trying to get Sienna on a schedule and put her directly into her bed. So far she's been pretty great, but tonight was tough with DH, he had to go up 4Xs...while I was WORKING OUT (guilt). Poor dad. I think the time difference was the culprit, it was too early for her.

We've gone out to restaurants the last 2 weekends on both days and she's really doing well. She loved the place we had lunch today, she was all smiles and so happy to see all the people and new things. Plus the wait staff was so into her, they were beyond baby friendly and gave her the star treatment. Unfortunately, her older half sister (age 14) isn't so thrilled that Sienna is getting so much attention. I guess that's par for the course with any sibling though...hopefully she'll adjust, we're giving her extra attention but it doesn't seem like it's enough. Ah life and teen angst... :-(

Hope you ladies are doing well and all babies are healthy and happy.

Best,
Steph

Hey steph,
looks like you have been doing awsome on your workouts. I did 3 days last week. I have been trying to do the 4Dsplit. I love the work outs. I just cant seem to find time for that 4th day. LOL. I have been so tired latley. I think with going back to work and all. I try to spend every min with LJ possible. I have such guilt not being able to stay home with him I try to be with him as much as possible. He has started to giggle and has really become his own little personality.

I think its tough to try to go out to eat. LJ will sometimes start to cry and then its just not enjoyable . that is great is sienna lets you have a nice dinner. well i gotta run...duty is crying

Hi guys,

Whew - just got back from a late walk with Nico. I've been interviewing potential babysitters the past couple of days (off of sittercity.com - so far I like it), so since DH will be away for a few days this week I will get some help. I went to the podiatrist today to get my foot checked - I had a stress related injury right before I conceived and it seems to be acting up again. I think it will be fine and heal more quickly this time, but I have to lay off of kickboxing and step for a couple of weeks (last time it took almost a year to heal).

Workouts ... hmmm ... what have I been doing? Lemme see if I can remember anything today ...

Tues: Butts & Guts
Wed: 1 hour walk carrying Nico; PUB
Thurs: 2 hour walk carrying Nico; Butts & Guts
Fri: Super Sets; 1 hour walk carrying Nico
Sat: 1 hour walk carrying Nico; 35 minutes biking; core max II
Sun: 1 hour elliptical; pilates mat routine 40 minutes
Mon: "Rest" day: 1.5 hr. walk carrying Nico

Oooo - he's calling ... btw - he rolled over for the first time on Saturday!! And he is sleeping well in his crib, too ...

Kisses to the babies :)

Hey all,

Good to hear that you're both doing so well with your workouts. Melissa, I haven't checked out the 4 day split yet...I'm so out of it. I'm trying to focus on getting fit enough to ride with DH this season - not easy to do. So it's mostly bike (trainer indoors) and weights with lots of stretching and walking. Oh yeah good news for me, I just discovered that I'm down 5 lbs - I'm so thrilled!!

Arancini, you amaze me with your multiple long workouts. I think you should consider doing a before and after in one of Cathe's "success stories" threads. Talk about commitment - you go girl. And that's awesome that Nico rolled over, Sienna keeps trying, it's pretty cute to watch her maneuver her chubby little body.

And the crib sleeping vs the swing seems like a huge transition, it's great that Nico's doing so well.

We just bought Sienna her big crib last night, we should get it soon. I'm not looking forward to her being out of our room though. We'll see how I feel about it when the crib arrives. I am looking forward to working on her room though, our paint job turned out well. We chose "melted butter" (yellow), it's nice and warm and sunny.

All for now, good night ladies!

Steph

Hi Steph, Arancini, Fitnurse (and of course, Sienna, Nico, and LJ)

Glad to hear the cohort is doing well, and you ladies are fabulous exercisers. I was lucky in that I dropped to pre-pregnancy weight in almost three weeks, but I was there by six. I haven't been exercising much though, and even though my weight is fine, my muscle tone is not. I am growing loose. I just can't seem to excercise with Tamal and going back to work. Exercising has never been a problem for me in terms of fitting into my schedule. One jogging friend of mine gave me a fine jogging stroller, and even though I don't like jogging, I think I will take it up as soon as Tamal is ready for that stroller. I can think of no other way that I can get exercise. I am still not willing to leave him in the nursery at the health club.

As it turns out, Tamal only needs to be away from my husband or me for three hours a week when I go to teach a class. I have arranged to teach one of my classes on line so that I can be here one afternoon to oversee the caretaking. I left him for 3 hours last week (cried all the way to campus) and he got on swimmingly with this caretaker--she is excellent though and I wish I could get her all the time, but can't. His new caretaker will watch him for 6 Tuesday afternoons beginning n April. I think she'll be good; we'll just train her about a high needs baby. He cut his first tooth yesterday which I think explains his orneriness of the last week. That was another reason I was loathe to leave him. He was in a really bad mood about teething. I was almost relieved to see the tooth yesterday, because I was deeply concerned that something was wrong with him. He has been tossing and turning at night unless I give him something for pain.

Fitnurse, I know what you mean in your disbelief about taking babies to restaurants. Until this week, I would have never dreamed of it. Tamal and LJ sound similar in temperment (strong willed and expressive). When our dept. secretary called to invite us to a restaurant in order to welcome a new colleague, I immediately said no. My husband was there and said, "Let's give it a try." I envisioned fleeing after 10 minutes with doggy bags, so I agreed to to for a few minutes, wish everyone well, order an appetizer, and leave. As it turned out, the place was rather empty. There were chandeliers and ceiling fans all over the place. Tamal loved it. One of my colleagues walked him around the place, and he even fell asleep on his shoulder. I couldn't believe it. Tamal can be so fussy, and I'd rather be at home when that strikes than anywhere else. As a result, I have been reluctant to take him placess. But this trip to the restaraunt emboldened me. Gotta go, Tamal is crying out for milk.
