post baby: three 45 min. exercise slots, how to spend them?

Hello. I have been out of commission on this board after having spent the past year having a baby! The baby and I are fine at 2 1/2 months post partum, but I have an exercise problem -- lack of time! Giving up my daily uninterupted workouts has to be the single biggest sacrifice of motherhood.

So here is my current situation. I was (am?)an advanced Cathe fan. I could keep up with most all of her cardio and weight selections.
The baby and I can talk daily walks, but they hardly feel like a cardiovascular workout. I still need to lose 10 pounds of baby weight. I have regained a pretty good amount of my strength and am fairly satisfied with my muscle tone all things considered.

I do have 45 uninterupted minutes on Fri, Sat, and Sun. How should I spend them?

Thank you,
Jeanne

I would get IMAX 2 and do as much of it as you can one day and then next pick up where you left off. That one is one of the workouts that CAthe created while postpartum with her second child and it helped give her the extra boost. The entire Intensity series would be very good for you to try.
You don't have to do the entire tape, just what you can get done. You will eventually find more time as you and the baby get more of a schedule going I'm sure.
By the way, I know you were more than likely hoping for Cathe, but while you wait there are my words of advice. Good luck, and congrats on the new bundle of joy!

I just want to say Welcome back and congratulations. I don't know what tapes you do or don't have but I love Cathe's pyramid workouts for the weight training. She has some premixes on dvd that may work quite well at 45 minutes and you can always tack on what you don't do to another day (such as the stability ball lower body workout). Another idea would be the CTX series which seems to be built for that type of time problem and combines the strength with the cardio.
I am sure that others in a similar predicament will give some great ideas as well.

Thanks

Sheila

I hear you! And congratulations not only on your new baby, but also for getting back into fitness so quickly. Good for you!

I have an 18-month-old son and another due in November. I have been fighting the time crunch issue as well as the pregnancy limitations. I know that once this baby arrives, my time will be even MORE precious and I'm already chomping at the bit to plan a "comeback" rotation.

I have to say that the Intensity Series DVD's have made a huge difference for me. Just look at all the workouts you get. The possibilities are endless. Even if I only have a little time to workout, I can always manage to find something here that fits.

Good luck. I hope this helps.
