Most of you know my brother Dylan is in bootcamp now and he finished the most difficult part today. He is almost finished and i get to see him graduated in less than a month! I know many of you have prayed for him and sent him good thoughts and well wishes. I truly believe that knowing that has helped him to make it through this very hard time. WE appreciate you. You have shared my worry and excitement for him as well as my pride in him, so i wanted to share this poem that i wrote him with all of you.
HERO
Extraordinary bravery
pride in doing what is right
Honor and integrity
the guts to stand and fight.
Few possess the courage
to make your sacrifice
of leaving home and family
going to risk your life.
You brother, are my hero
surpassing my wildest dreams
You volunteered to enter hell
and emerged a U.S. Marine.
You will travel far away from me
abroad and overseas
your mission each day that you awake
protecting your beloved country.
I carried you and held your hand
now you're protecting me
It's no surprise, you're every bit
the man i hoped you'd be.
You are the star i wish on
I will never need another
no one could be more proud of you
my hero, my little brother.
I know there are some women here who have family in the armed forces, overseas and otherwise. I never realized the sacrifices that the families of the men and women protecting our nation make everyday until my brother left and it became a reality. Thank you. Thank them.
