Plunge lunges + very tired = huge klutz

I can relate, believe me! Today I was doing HSC, and on the first cardio combo I put my foot down on the side of the ministep instead of the center. The first step layer flipped up into the air and landed upside down a few feet away. Worse, I seem to do these tricks regularly--the other day my toe caught on the step and I wound up kicking the top layer across the room. Yeah, I was tired. That's my excuse. }(
 
when i'm tired, i can barely get out of my own way never mind deal with plunge lunges or anything else that goes beyond the most basic of gross motor skills.
