Pls give some recommendations to a newbie

In addition to running 3x a week I do an intermediate/advanced kickboxing class 3 times a week at our local CC and love what it has done to my body in the last 8M.

I am toying with the idea of doing the majority of my kickboxing workouts at home due to the fact I can't find a reliable babysitter!

Can you guys recommend maybe 2-3 videos that you feel are musthaves??? What I really like about the classes I do now is the instructor does freeweights and abs after (and sometimes during!) the workout, so I feel I am really getting a goodworkout for the time I have available.

Any suggestions would be great!

Thanks!

KPC, alias Kick Punch, Crunch is Cathe's best kickbox w/o and one of her best w/o's period. I've never heard a bad word spoken about it. It has some high and low impact moves, great punching and kicking combos and a very good ab routine at the end.

Kick Max from the new Hardcore series is less kickbox oriented, more a high impacty cardio tape, but it does feature some kickbox combos, and good drills for the legs and glutes that will improve your power and form on your kicks. many people use the cardio blast section in the middle of this w/o as an add-on to other w/os, which you can do because Cathe's w/os are well chaptered.

Cardio Kicks is her other full length kickbox w/o. It uses more space than the other two, but you can modify the space hogger moves. It has a kickbox flavoured cardio section, followed by a fabulous "kickbox drills" section that everyone seems to love.

Of the 3, KPC is the best true kickbox w/o. You will love it.

Thanks for the suggestion....after reading some of the reviews about the w/o that was the one I was leaning to.

Any other good ones? LMK!!

Susan,

I just wanted to add on to what Clare wrote and say that if you get KPC on the dvd with Legs & Glutes, you will get a terrific lower body weight workout. The dvd has a number of premixes on it that combine sections of both KPC & LG, to give you the weight work that you said you liked. The KPC/LG premixes are wonderful and quite challenging.

Great, that is exactly what I am looking for because of course, like most women, the lower body is where I could probably use the most help!

I wonder how often I need to do the L&G w/o to be effective but not overdo it, KWIM? I should add that I do run 2-3 days a week for 45-60 minutes and do incorporate hilly runs on one of those days.

I was thinking of cutting back the running to 2 days a week because I don't "race" anymore and having the 2 kids makes it so hard to get anything done.

I would then do the KPC DVD 2 days a week and then the L&G once....is that enough...should I be doing the L&G twice? I just don't want to toally fatigue my lower body because I know you do need to "rest/recover" inbetween weight bearing workouts etc.

Any thoughts??

Susan
