Educated crowd,

My neck makes this cracking sound (only I can hear it) when I move, to read, computer, crochet and sometimes while watching TV. Feels like the tissue inside is tight, and when I move my head then releases all of a sudden, if that makes any sense at all.

This happeneds quite often. It started just a couple of months ago. Anyone have a clue whats going on? It doesn't hurt, but it is very annoying. Drives me nuts.

Janie

The idea is to die young as late as possible.

Hello -

My neck does that and it's because I have degeneration in the discs up in that area. I've had x-rays and MRIs because of constant stiff necks. So far, knock on wood, no arthritis has set in, but I know what you're talking about. The noise most times doesn't bother me if there's other noise going on, but when it's quiet enough...GRRRR!!!!

You eventually get used to it!

I agree with getting a check-up from a chiropractor. Your neck vertebrae may be out of alignment.

I have a stiff, cracking, achy neck and its a degenerative disc/cervical arthritis. No cure, but my chiropractor is my hero.

It bothers me most when I am inactive, like you said, sitting at the computer, sitting and reading, etc. This saying is my motto "motion is lotion". The more I move the better my neck sounds and feels. And simple, easy neck stretches.

You are exactly right. That's what my doctor says as well. Since I've been stretching more - the pain is definitely gone but the cracking is still annoying.
