PLEASE help! Injured needs cardio workout

Educated crowd, please help!

I have a broken toe and cannot do any cardio that will jar it for 4 weeks. What can I do to challenge my heart during that time?
I've been lifting weights every other day for a week, but I don't want to lose all the progress I've made cardio wise. Orthoped. dr. said I can do the bike, but I don't have access to one. I can do squats and step-ups since my foot stays flat, but no moving or jarring. I'm an advanced exerciser so I want the most challenging work possible.
Does Pilates work your heart after being accustomed to Cathe? If so, what's the hardest Pilates workout on tape/DVD?
I can do jumprope on the good foot only, but was looking for other stuff to do too.
Any info/comments are appreciated.

Thank you, all, in advance.

I'm not sure if you can do this or not, but what about the gliding workouts? I don't have them, but I was wondering if that would work for you. You can do a search on them here or at VF.

I'm sorry to hear about your injury. I broke my toe a couple years back and my Bun & Thigh Rocker saved me. I don't think they are available anymore but maybe E-Bay??? When I used it, I put all pressure into my heels on the pushing motion and it didn't bother my toe. BTW, how do you jump rope on one foot? I'm trying to picture that! LOL! All I can think is hopping on one foot? THAT sounds like a workout in itself. There is also a machine called the Rockit similar to the B&TR. It would probaly take a week or so to order & receive but you would have it for two-three weeks of your injury. Sorry, wish I could help you more. I concentrated on strength work, upper body and ABS while injured. Also, you can do lying leg work. Good Luck and keep us posted.

http://www.handykult.de/plaudersmilies.de/wavey.gif[/img]Hi Erica! Nice to see you here! I have the gliders but I think it does put a lot of stress on the whole foot using them. Maybe not for something like side-to-side moves where you could dig in with your heels but no lunges or moving cardio. JMO!

What about doing punching combos from KPC and KM? You could just eliminate the shuffling and other foot work. Otherwise you could just focus on doing a strength rotation for the 4 weeks and then do a cardio rotation afterwards.

I had a foot surgery a few years ago and was unable to do any cardio for 6 weeks but I kept up on upper body work and floor leg work and my aerobic capacity stayed the same, I bet you'll be fine. Take care of your toe :)
