Planet Fitness? Any members out there??

Beavs

Cathlete
I am thinking of joining the very affordable Planet Fitness to add a bit of variety to my routine (and my SO can join me which is nice.) I've been to a few in my area and like them. I just wonder what experience others have had with them. TIA!

Beavs~ I've been debating whether or not to join the one 5 minutes from my house. I think I recently received a card advertising an amazing price. I'v e never been in one though...are they nice?

The one in your neck of the woods is quite nice. I was there yesterday. You can pay the $15.00 day fee to work out and if you like it, deduct the $15.00 from the $39.00 joiner fee if you decide to join. So if you join, we could have a mini GTG at the PF ;-)

I'll have to check it out! Thanks for the info. Everytime I drive past the PF near me, the parking lot is jammed packed. That is one of the things that has kept me away.

I went around 4:00 and it wasn't bad at all. I think some people had to wait a few for the ellipticals but most occupied themselves on the other machines while they waited.

I just moved and am thinking of joining as well. They give a rockin' discount to friends of members every so often (it was like $20/month with nothing down if I remember correctly).

The only negative that I see (so far) is that their classes seem a little different than most gyms.

Actually, they don't have any classes other than instructional (to show how to do certain exercises, use the equipment, etc). I have read up on the controversy of them having expelled a member for loud grunting. I would be a little nervous about the "lunk alarm" that goes off when someone is heard grunting of spotted dropping weights. I have to say that the two local clubs I visited did not harass people and there was some grunting and weight dropping but nothing excessive. I'm not into grunting (LOL!) but I have been known to drop a weight or two when pushing myself.
