pilates reformer classes

Has anyone taken one of these classes? The gym I just joined has a pilates room and classes using the reformer and I'm curiuos.

O my Mom did that class once....and she HATED it. Just in her opinion you might like it but my Mom doesn't care for slow paced classes like that. She preferes faster classes like step, wieghts, and stability ball classes. You may like it though. Thats just her opinion;-)

HTH!

IO don't mind slow...I'm looking for myself and mydaughter a little core work and stretching and it looked like it would fit the bill.

Than pilates would be GREAT for you. I mean you still work hard in the reformer classes, just not so high impact. That sounds great for you though. Hope you enjoy it!

I liked it. What I didn't like was the price--we weren't allowed in the room unless we hired one of the trainers, which cost $70 per hour.

This gym has a 3 class intro for $30 and then its 6 classes for $110 which i didnt think was too bad if I only did it once a week.

Holy moly, that is a great deal! I would definitely do it if I could get a bargain like that. My gym gives a discount if you buy packages too--the sessions are $65 instead of $70. So that means 6 classes would cost me about $400.

Of course a lot depends on the instructor, it's nice that you can do an intro package to make sure you like it.

Now I'm really jealous. x(

Sorry, but I have to brag about this gym I found. Quick backstory, my kids wanted to go, I was reluctant to join a gym cuz I like my videos. Well, we went and looked at this Golds Gym and turns out its the best Golds in the whole country! Literally!!! In Boise Idaho!!??? It has EVERYTHING....pool with a waterfall, an aerobics room (all the Les Mills classes, Body Pump etc), a spinning room, a pilates room (with the reformers), a boxing ring (?>???), a martial arts room, a locker room with 3 headed shower stalls in gorgeous tiny blue tile and granite counter tops, so much equipment I couldnt begin to tell you how much all with their own flat screen tvs, a spa, a women's only section (why do women want to deprive themselves of looking at the beautiful eye candy?), a smoothie bar, and a rock climbing wall. Its the BOMB! It costs a load too :)

But now I'm totally psyched about working out at a gym and my kids are thrilled. Everything is right again. I'm even thinking of going back to teaching aerobics and/or personal training again. I'll have to tkae the test again not to mention getting my own self in shape first though. I'm having to rethink everything based on that. I need to get back to eating the "right" way again instead of relying on low calories/Lean Cuisines. Lauramax, any thoughts on that issue? PLEASE help! :)
