PIF for Week of 11/01/2010

November 1st. A new month. A new week. A new day. And for many people, a new beginning on so many levels. A cousin of mine has 6 kids is going thru some very hard times. She's trying to break out of her abusive relationship, their apartment building was just condemned so they scrambled to find a new home, and she has no money. So last week I put together 3 very big bags of clothes that my boys outgrew and gave them to her for her boys (3 of her 6 are boys). That became OUR ASSIGNMENT for this week.

DONATE. Donate something to somebody that truly needs it. You don't have to go buy something to donate; I'd rather you go through your stuff and find something that is needed by somebody else. If you don't personally know somebody, then donate to an organization in your area. Go thru your closets...any clothes that YOU haven't worn in over 9 months? Any kitchen gadgets or appliances that you don't use or need anymore? How many sets of sheets and pillow cases do you REALLY need? Does your pantry have any non-perishables that your local food bank can hand out? SCOUTING FOR FOOD, by the Boys Scouts of America is coming up this weekend in my area......check your area.

DONATE.

Then come and share your story, if you'd like.

(on a side note, I'll be doing a new DONATE PIF this week. Last week's was a good one for me, but I'm taking this on again this week as well.)

YOU ALL ROCK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Great one, Gayle!! I'm going to go through my closets for clothing and my pantry for non-perishables. I'm also going to go through my dog's ample supply of dog toys and donate some (ones he hasn't destroyed!) to the local Humane Society.

This is so much fun!

OH! Denise....the animal shelter! Excellent idea. The kids and I haven't been to the SPCA in a while. We usually go and help out with the cats.....for about 6 hours! LOL Once we get in there, we never want to leave. Maybe part of my DONATE PIF this week will be to donate some of our TIME there. Great idea!

A couple friends and I used to go there to walk dogs. I always left there practically in tears because I wanted to take them all home with me! It was so rewarding to see them so happy, out in the fresh air, rolling in the grass under a tree, etc, and I hated to take them back inside! (Even though I know they get good care...just can't stand seeing them "behind bars"):(

I haven't been there in awhile, so while I'm there donating the toys this week, I think I'll take a couple guys out for a walk, too!

Gayle, thanks again for starting this PIF challenge! It feels so good to think about someone else once in awhile instead of selfishly just dwelling on our own problems.:D:D:D
