Physique Transformation? Does it work?

Hi! I am very new to this board but, I have noticed comments about PT. I have been on Weight Watchers for 3 weeks with little results. I have 15 lbs to loose and muscle to gain! Does PT really work. Any experiences that you are willing to share would be great. Do you really have to patiently go through the conditioning phase? Thanks!

Yes, it does work and it will change the way you think about food and fat loss. It is a lifestyle change, not just another diet scam. I lost 13 pounds and 5% in body fat. I weigh 105 and am between 16.5% and 17% body fat. I just finished a rotation last week and am now starting maintenence for a while.

Yes, you must go through the conditioning phase - this is to get your body's metabolism back on track and get it ready to burn fat. It really isn't all that long, and the whole program isn't all the long in the grand scheme of life. Furthermore, you can take the education you get in nutrition with you for the rest of your life.

Ok, Shari aka as Wutheri (I hope I got the right Shari from the PFA board), chime in here - I know you're out there some where.

I am in the 3rd day of the free trial and not sure I will continue on with the program after the trial ends. I am having a hard time figuring out how it is all going to work.

My big question is, what is the difference between Physique Transformation and the Body for Life program? I know for a fact that the Body For Life program works, but can't seem to get a clear answer to how it differs from PT.

If anyone can shed a little light on this that would be great.

Oh, yeah. I'm here, and I have nothing but wonderful things to say about the program! It DOES work! It worked when nothing, and I mean NOTHING, else did, when my metabolism was totally screwed up from eating too little and exercising too much.

I'd lost 99 pounds on WW, then I hit a plateau that lasted almost two years. TWO YEARS! That's just a number to all of you, I know, but that was two years of my life. Two frustrating, hanging-on-by-a-toenail, almost-ready-to-give up two years. My resolve, at that time, was shaky at best. I could easily have slid back into my old habits. But this program saved me from that and taught me how to eat for the rest of my life. I honestly didn't know how, before. I've always either been on an all-out binge or a starvation diet. Nothing in between. I didn't know how to eat sensibly. When I started gaining weight on WW, I was at a loss about what to do. I didn't want to backslide but couldn't see starving myself only to GAIN weight! That's when I found out about physiquetransformation.com on this website (thanks, again, Fitness Goddess).

This is the third time I've lost over 100 pounds. It's an understatement to call me a yo-yo dieter. And I've never exercised in my life! I hated it. I hated to sweat. I didn't even like walking. But like I said, I finally got up the oomph to lose that weight one more time. Exercised until I'd worked my way up from riding my bike six blocks to the store to exercising with Cathe and keeping up! And then . . . stuck! Nothing would budge that weight--and I still had 70 pounds to lose. I actually gained 4 pounds eating 1100 calories a day, riding my bike 1-3 hours a day, and lifting weights (with Cathe) 3-4 days a week.

The best part about the PT program is Conditioning, in my opinion. Yes, it's frustrating to wait 4-8 weeks to get started, but it's so necessary. It gets your metabolism in high gear, ready to burn those calories by eating lots of "clean" calories. I didn't even know that was possible! I didn't know you could FIX your metabolism! I didn't know you could make it burn hotter. But I actually lost 7 pounds in the first few weeks of the program. By the end of conditioning, I was eating 2,840 clean calories a day and losing weight steadily at 2 pounds a week. (On WW, I was lucky to lose 1/2 pound a week.)

It's a great program. Do yourself a favor and check into it. It's not easy. I won't say it is. And at first, it's time-consuming. I spent an hour or so a day, at first. (But I also spent two hours a day less doing pointless exercise that wasn't working anyway, so I actually saved time when I learned to exercise more sensibly, too.) It takes a while to unlearn the habits of a lifetime, and that's what the first weeks on the program will do for you. Once you catch on, it gets easier and easier. Now, I probably spend ten minutes a day planning what I'll eat each day. I exercise six days a week, no more than an hour a day.

PT and Cathe gave me my life back. I was nearly 300 pounds. I could barely walk. I took something like 12 pills a day for hypothyroidism, diabetes, high blood pressure, etc. I take 3, now, and at lower doses than ever before. And the best part is, I take no medicine whatsoever for my type-II diabetes! None! Even with all the carbs you eat with this program, my sugar is completely controlled with only diet and exercise. Seriously, check it out.

Hi, Cari! I just wanted to let you know that my friend (user name Kotacam) who replied to your post is a true testament
that this plan works! I was lucky enough to meet her through this forum and we email regularly and meet once in a while
to chat. Well, we met last night and I had not seen her for a few months. I knew she was doing the PT, however, and
I was looking forward to seeing her results. Let me tell you--I was floored! She looks amazing. Her arms are beautifully
defined, her legs look fabulous, and her belly is flat as a board (you would never know she has two children).

She worked hard, and I am so proud of her. I am inspired to begin soon myself! :) Good luck!

I have not done BFL, but have read all the info concerning it as I had considered doing a challenge at one time. The major difference is that PT has more of an emphasis on nutrition/diet and does not give you a definite exercise program, like BFL does which gives you sets, reps, exercises, etc. In PT you are encourgaed to weight lift in conditioning (whatever program you feel like, on your own, vids, whatever) and then add cardio (again, of your own choosing) during the fat burning phase to assist with fat loss. I know BFL has a diet plan, but it's not as detailed as PT. There are a lot of people who use both programs at the same time. Many plateau with BFL and then use the PT to continue their strength gains and fat losses.

All that said, my husband also did a PT rotation and lost 20 pounds and hardly worked out at all! He didn't do cardio except the first few weeks of fat burning. It's true that 70-80% of how you look is your diet! I think he could have lost more had he worked out more.
