Personal, but I have to ask!

Ok mothers out there. I had my daughter a year ago now, and I STILL can't run without a little "leaking" happening! This drives me insane!! So here is my question, I am terrible about doing my kegals, but if I know it worked for some of you ladies, maybe I'll commit to it more. So, did this fix your little problem???? Like I said, it is not terrible, but it is enough to make me not want to run. Thanks!

Hi Robin. My son is going to be 6 years old next month and every once in a while I cannot do jumping jacks or certain Plyo jumps without leaking! I don't know if it's a slight infection or something or what! I can relate to you not wanting to run tho. It is very annoying. Maybe something just happens to our bodies after child birth and it's something we just have to deal with. x( A lot of those commercials I see have young women in them. So who really knows?

Hi Robin! I had this problem after a hysterectomy, leaked in a major way when I ran, walked, you name it. I ended up having major surgery to correct the problem. I'm now 95% better, but still can't do more than 4 jacks without leaking. So I wear a pad. Which is funny because I tossed them all out after the hyst!!! My doctor kept telling me to do the kegels, but I never did - I think it would've helped quite a bit.

Hi Robin,

I also had my daughter about a year ago. I do not do kegels religiously, but I do them whenever I remember to. I still leak a little bit especially when I am having a bad cold and/or cough. But I don't have any problems when I run. But I do leak when I do Cathe's high-impact moves (plyos, air-jumps etc).

Hi Robin,

I've heard some good results with kegals, but I also know quite a few women who that it didn't work for and stopped the problem by just strengthen their bladder by stopping the flow of urine when they go. Basically you let the stream start and then you try and stop it, and hold it for a minute then go again, then stop and hold etc. This is one I was also recommended to do by my urologist, when they did later break up of a few giant kidney stones, that were impassible, it also caused me to leak. And even the first 4 months after that, if I felt the urge to go, I better be hitting that bathroom door that moment and pulling down my pants, as I generally had less then two minutes of being able to hold it before there was no holding it. This really worked wonders for me, I run, jump, do whatever I wanted to do. Though last February I couldn't have said that. I didn't have a baby passing that way, but a quite a few big rocks instead that ended up stretching out the bladder, and it took strengthing the muscles to get it back into shape.

Good Luck,

Kit

Hey Kit! That is a great tip and I will definately try it! AND, more importantly, I can remember to do that....well....because I'm not doing anything else during that time! LOL!
Thanks again!
