Pentagenatians & Beyond: W/B 2/10

it's funny but GS cookies aren't available here until march 1st. I asked at the store this morning thinking DH would want some but it's campfire girls during Feb, and GS in march.

wow Lori, you are really hitting it hard. I like how you fit 2 woekouts in a day! I used to run nat 4% but never got back to that after knee surgery. so I usually do 2.5%.
Sounds like a fun day Josie.

IMO kayaks are more stable because they ride lower in the water than canoes. I've only done a little of each, not an expert here. we wanted something portable to take with our camper.... don't have room to mount a rack for a hard shell canoe or kayak. I'm not real brave about water activities, so I need to go slowly.

I finally (!!!!) lost 2 pounds, and got below the stubborn plateau I've been at forever. I'm so happy! Finally.

Hi all

At Phoenix airport where they have free wifi! Happy valentines day!
I get home at 9:39 est. can't wait. Hard for me to go back and read all the posts to reply so I will do that tomorrow. I took the day off to get some down time before getting back to the office.

Take care,

Happy Friday !

Uneventful trip home, just draining, sitting in airports etc. Glad to be home.

I plan on doing some type of workout this morning, not sure which yet. Obviously the xTrain rotation was a bust while I was gone, but I did manage to get 3 workouts in, which I was happy about.

Valerie, good job on the weight loss! As for Girl Scout cookies, I don't buy them anymore because if they are here, I will eat them. My favorite are the shortbread ones.

Josie, you were so right about Palm Springs, it was pretty cold, especially when the sun went down. When I walked to the gym the other morning it was 39 degrees! I thought I was home. Have a fun day with your DD!

Garance, where did you go for your Valentines dinner? I came home to roses on the table, so that was nice.

Lori, I agree with Valerie, 2 workouts a day is awesome!

Off to get motivated to do a workout of some kind....

welcome back Deb. traveling is so tiring.... hope you can get a nice workout in and get back to normal right away. I like cookies but seldom eat them unless we're hiking long distances. just can't eat what I used to without seeing it on the scale instantly. why even bother chewing them, just stick them directly on my thigh.

I went to yoga yesterday and then did burn sets back, ch, sh. also the ab workout. I really like the core 1 workout. fairly fast paced, good moves for me, and feels effective.

MIL still in the hospital, no one has talked to her doc yet, who is being elusive. I forget if I said but she has a blood clot in her leg, maybe both. she would not wear her support hose, keep her legs elevated, walk regularly, or stay hydrated, so there you go. she is anticoagulated now. that is risky because her tumor site is bleeding but I guess there's no choice but take the chance. it will be hard to control her levels because she eats so sporadically and is not reliable taking any of her meds, at least after she goes home or wherever she ends up.
and then to top the aggravation, we found out that an account for my mother that we've been managing for years never was filled out with needed info. like beneficiaries! we've invested it well and made her some profits. she never filled out the forms. and never said anything to anyone if she didn't know how. so I need to fill it out and send it to her making sure she signs it and returns it to merrill lynch.

Good morning ladies!

This morning I slept in until 6AM! That is late for me. My DH worked late so I ended up doing burn set bis and tris then a heavy bag workout plus I ran in the morning. I did not feel guilty at all sleeping in. Tonight will be hardstrikes while DH is on the bike. It was never my intent to work out twice a day but it seems to be working for me right now so I am just going with it! I like cardio in the morning so if the rotation calls for it I will do it. If it is weights then I will run and do the weights in the evening.

Garance....that was my romantic night!

Deb...Welcome back. Hard to stay on a rotation when you travel. Still good you were able to workout three times.

Valerie...my heart breaks with what you and your husband are going thru. This is such a difficult time.

Josie...have a great day off and enjoy your time with your daughter!

Hi Deb, Josie, Valerie, and Lori--

This morning I did Supercuts, premix 1 (56:21). This premix includes core 1, which, I agree Valerie, is a good one for me. I can do all the moves. Added on to the core work for Supercuts, it's plenty for the middle.

Welcome back, Deb! Oh, you know--our favorite restaurant, Mezze's, with our favorite chef. We both had DH's beef, but I had the strip loin steak, aged 30 days, and DH had the ribeye, aged 60 days. It was so tender it almost melted in my mouth. Of course, I also brought half home for tonight. Also, very sinful, I had a lemon tart and shared with DH. Really good. Very nice evening for us.

Valerie, your MIL sounds as though she has pretty much given up. Very sad. I had to do a bunch of stuff for one of my sisters when she was dying and her husband would not/could not help (never figured out which, because he was suffering from some form of Parkinson's or dementia). If I hadn't intervened, her considerable fortune would have ultimately gone to her husband's first wife, because they remarried after my sister died. No love lost as you might imagine between my sister and the divorced first wife. Our generation is now being called "aging tweeners" because we are simultaneously dealing with aging parents and college age children. I'm profoundly grateful that our sons both have good jobs and no debt. My parents are dead, but DH has both and he is trying to renovate their condo to prevent accidents when they come back from Florida--rails, ramps, etc.

Lori, tomorrow is my sleep-in day. 7 weeks down on the undulating rotation for me.

Will go to see Amour this weekend. Another of the Oscar nominees. Have a great weekend everyone!

Good morning,

nice day yesterday, my cousin and I just hung around, went to a late breakfast I didn't get a workout in, but that's ok. I will start my rotation again tomorrow.

Valerie, so sorry about your MIL..I hope they can manage any pain and she is peaceful.

Lori, never feel guilty sleeping in! that's what weekends are for.

Garance, can"t wait until you get to the end of Downton to see what you think. tomorrow is the end? you mentioned a 2 hour episode coming up.

agility class, the lots of HouseMax for me, plus making Keegan"s food.

what"s everyone else up to tis weekend?

I did burnset bi's & tris, core 1, and a mile on the treadmill. DH got done a little early, had planned on 2 miles. good enough.

MIL is pissed off and screaming at everyone. she has lost control and is not happy about it. she wouldn't be in this spot if she'd done the basic things everyone asked her to do, over and over again. not clear if she will go home, not for a few days anyway. if so, then it will be with hospice. they are trying to get her pain meds adjusted, but she's taken so much stuff for years( vicodin drug of choice) that it's no an easy job. therr may be a little dementia in there too, hard to separate things when you don't see people regularly. we think she's putting on a bit of an act for family, and behaving better when no one is there. no audience.

talked to brother, sister, mother yesterday and will send off a form to be completed for her investment money. I can't believe she just ignored this and then didn't mention it to anyone. at least she has a will. I am often glad I don't have children to deal with. my parents were crappy parents and brother and sister didn't do too well either.

we will do yard work today, we have a load of stinky compost to top off the planting beds, dirty nasty work but it's once a year. we had nice results last season with things growing much better and not drying out too much.

Good afternoon ladies!

This morning was supercuts, then ran 2 miles on TM. Garance yes we are about to begin our 7th week! Seems to be going by quickly. I know we are still 6 weeks out yet I have already started thinging about what to do next. I really like following a rotation. I like having my workouts planned for me. I know cathe always posts a monthly rotation. Perhaps I'll start these.

I'll check in with you all tomorrow. I am on the Missions Committee at my Church and every third saturday we host a free spaghetti supper for anyone that wants to come for dinner. Today would be that saturday so I need to run to help make some pasta!

Chat with you all tomorrow.
