Pentagenarians & Beyond: Week Beg 3/23

Good Morning!

I did an I-Tread and part of the ab work from the Pyramids. I hate those pikes on the ball (probably because I can;t do them!;-) ).

It's snowing here right now..will it ever end!

Linny:
I would really like to cut back on that recipe when I make it next time. They said that each serving was 851 calories! . Sorry you had the tension on a holiday...can you just sit them both down and ask for a truce? It sounds like they are holding a grudge for something that is not so important ( unless there was more that you did not want to say here)..Families...sometimes they can be so darn stressful!

Hi to Garance, Jen, Josie

Have a great day!

Deb:)

Hi Deb, Linny, and Josie--

I did 4ds Bootcamp this morning with bis and tris (62 min.).

We spent a nice couple days in Boston with our sons. The older son announced his engagement on Saturday night when we were out for dinner. I don't know what their marriage plans are yet, but she seems very nice, very smart.

I did catch up on all of the Easter entries. I will be curious to know what you think, Deb, of the Christi Taylor, which I really do like. It's very dancy, but not hard to follow--I think. I also think the abs at the end is excellent.

I am spending this week on my own writing, so I'm looking forward to it after a week of my students' work.

Did you exercise all four days, Linny? I remember the applepicking episode. I heard someone on NPR say that harboring resentments is like swallowing poison and hoping the other person will drop dead. It just eats at you.

Sunny, but still pretty cold here. When is spring going to come?????

Hi Ladies:
Well tonites the big night,I start third shift.DH is worried about me driving to and from. Its about 45min drive, hope I can stay awake.I'm going to try and lie down for an hour or so till I go in.
Deb:You have snow? Its about 40 degrees here.DH said he heard snow for tues nite into wed.morning.When is it going to end? I think that the big problem between DH and DS is that they are too much alike. Both can be very stubborn.
Garance: Congrats on your son's engagement. That was a nice little surprise. Is that Christi Taylor one by PowerBody?
The resentment between DS and DH is eating me up too:-(
Have fun with your writing this week.
By the way I joined Weight Watchers today. I lost weight before when I was on it,so I'm going to try again.Start weight 156.I'll be sure to post weight loss.~Linny~

Good Morning!

I was up at 4:10, and did Pyramid Upper Body ( up only pre-mix). This is a pretty tough workout. I wish she would give you more time betweet sets and switching the weights! I feel like I might get hurt just from the jumping around trying to get the next weight before she starts again! It's still very cold here. I wish spring would come.

Garance:
Congratulations on your older son's engangement! You will be a MIL soon..LOL I think I will do the Christie Taylor on Sunday ( my only day to do a long workout) and use it as a total body, light endurance workout. It will also give me a 4th cardio day so that will be good.

Linny:
Let us know how the night shift went. What time to you get out of work in the morning? probably just when I am getting ready for work. Are you planning on sleeping in the afternoon or morning? That was the tough part when I worked tha shift..when to sleep. I slept as soon as I got home. Got up around 4:00 pm and stayed up all day and then went to work. I was really tired when I got home, but that left the day to do things and the evening to see my SO at the time. Cudos to you for joining WW. If it worked before it will work
again!:)

I wonder if Jen is ok?

Hi to Josie too!

Have a great day...

Deb;-)

Hi Deb, Linny, Josie, and Jen--

This morning I did Leslie Sansone's Walk Slim 4 Fast Miles (50 min.).

I am really enjoying working on my article. The afternoon just flies by when I am doing my own stuff--instead of grading.

You are right, Deb, about how fast Cathe is on PUB. I have it on VHS, so I always do the full routine, and it's definitely a good one. The Christi Taylor uses 5 pounders, but compound movements with the legs keep my heartrate up through much of the routine. I think it's an easier version of Cathe's Circuit Max, which used to have me panting and sweating like mad. Haven't done that one in a long time.

Good luck on Weight Watchers Linny. If it worked for you before, it should again.

Lots of sun, but still so cold here. At least all of the snow is melted.

Anybody watching DWTS?? I say it's Kristi the whole way. What a sexy mambo!!

Hey, Jen, are you all right?

Good Morning Ladies:
Well morning for me that is.Made it through the night, nausea around 4am but not bad for the amount time I was awake.
Deb:I did go to bed right when I came home around 8:30a and got up at 3:15pm.Did alot of tossing and turning but I did get some sleep.Hopefully I'll be able to stay awake till tomorrow morning,we'll see how tired I am tonite. I've been doing Jari Love occasionally and she changes quickly from weights to cardio.Especially hard when she has the step placed differently in each segment.
Garance:Glad to hear you are enjoying your writing. Its spring break right? It was pretty cold when I left work this morning.Started with the hive thing when I was driving due to the cold.Isn't it Springx(
Trying to remember to put all my points into WW tracker,I hope this works I need it.A woman who works in payroll has been doing WW for 2 yrs and has lost 77pds.She looks great. She use to work at a facility with me and was heavy at that time. What a difference.
Hi Josie and Jen!~Linny~

Good Morning and Happy Hump Day!

Today I did a 30 minute I-Tread. I woke up at 4:00 and was going to get up but I actually went back to sleep until the alarm rang at 4:30! That never happens! Still cold here and will not be over 40 for the rest of the week. We may see 48 by Monday..woo hoo!x(

Garance:
Isn't it nice when you have something like your writing that makes the time fly and you are enjoying every minute? Quilting does that for me. Yes I am "tryung" to watch Dancing With the Stars, if I could ever get the times right on the VCR..I never seem to tape the right segment.. is Monday 2 hours? I only taped from 8-9:30 so I missed the 2 that I really wanted to see, Kristi and Mario. I taped the 8-9 recap and the 9-10 show last night...hopefully they will replay those 2 dances. Some of the others are pretty bad.

Linny:
Glad to hear you did ok on your first "night". Do you use the online WW tracker? How is that going for you?

Hi to Jen & Josie...check in and let us know how you are doing!

Have a great day!

Deb

Hi Deb and later posters--

This morning I did Slim Sculpt with Ellen Barrett (46 min.). Very deceptive workout. My arms are aching. This is the second time I have done it, and I'm impressed with the graceful movements--Pilates based.

Deb, I have a friend who is a master-quilter. Just beautiful! Maybe when I retire I will take this up. I'm a sewer and a knitter. Just finished my 4th wrap dress from that Diane Von Furstenberg-like pattern. It's just perfect, so I keep making them. This one is in black, while the three others are all prints. I also have a sweater that I need to block.

I'm spring cleaning my closets--throwing out things I haven't worn for 3 years and taking to Goodwill. Shameful how much stuff I accumulate! I'm really going to try to be less self-indulgent.

Hope your shift gets easier, Linny. Keep us up with your Weight Watchers success.

I finished my revisions yesterday on my article and sent it by e-mail attachment to the editors. Now it's the Works Cited--not as much fun, but a scholarly necessity.

I wasn't too surprised by the dancers who were eliminated last night--Monica Seles and Teller (or is it Penn??) of Penn and Teller fame. He has feet the size of gunboats!

Hi Ladies:
Sitting here drinking my green tea with CAFFEINE before I leave for work.Still having nausea,I hope my body gets use to this shift soon.
Deb:I am doing the online weight tracker. So far so good.Makes me more aware of whats going into my mouth.
Garance:Looks like you do a different workout everyday.Today I was able to do LIC.It was tough to get going but I was glad I did it. Can you come over and clean my closet too?;)
Well its off to work.Have a great night~Linny~

Good Morning!

Today I did Pyramid Lower Body ( up only pre-mix(, plus the abs and stretch from Christie Taylor Get Fit & Dance ( thanks Garance!;-) ). Not much new going on here. Just work, home, work , home..boring I know. The weather is still cold and no spring in sight.x( .

Garance:
I really like the ab work in that Christie Taylor workout. So different! It is not hard but you know you will feel it the next day. No awful crunches! Just those little pulses which are no problem. I like that it is chaptered so I can go right to what I want to do. I saw that there were both "core" and "ab" chapters so I went to the ab one because it was right before the stretch and I wanted to so some of that since I skipped out of the Pyramid one. Can't wait to try the whole thing. I think I will do it Sunday as my total body workout. I still did not finish watching all of DWTS. I am terrible when it comes to that. I saw part of the recap show. Hopefully I will finish it all before Monday! Cudos to you for being able to throw things out. I have clothes going back 20 years..!

Linny:
I hope you are able to get used to the shift so you aren;t feeling bad. What do you think makes you get nauseous from working those hours? Sounds like the online WW is just right for you!

Have a great day!

Deb:)

Hi Deb and Linny--

This morning I did Leslie Sansone's Fast and Firm 4 Really Big Miles. It's very good, but there is no sound-only option, and Leslie is a real screecher at times. For awhile she lets another woman give the orders, and it really underscores how screechy she is because this other woman has a pleasant, modulated voice. But the music is good, and I just tune out of her.

Yeah, Deb, I think Christi's abs routine is really good--I really feel them after several repetitions of that pulsing. I think you will like the dancy aerobics. Really not hard, and I love the hip-hop and the Latin ones especially. Have you been looking at all the photos on the blog. I am getting very curious about the STS series now, and wonder how much new equipment will be necessary.

Same question, Linny--what's making you nauseous? Are you taking an iron supplement by any chance? When I was anemic, that's what would happen to me--the iron just churned inside me. Maybe you should try taking a Zantac. It really works for me.

Sunny here, anyway. Still not warm enough for me, though. Spring break is about to come to an end, darn. But I am done with my article, all my grading is finished. I am about halfway through my closets, and I've started thinking GARDEN! tra la!

Hi Deb and Garance:
Deb:It was actually in the 50's around here today. But they say that we are getting 4-8inches of snow tonight.Sounds like it may be quite the ride home in the morning. All the snow is melted and now it starts all over againx( Feels like thats all I've been doing lately:work,home,work,home...
Garance:You guys have me interested in that Christi dvd.I'll have tocheck it out.I'll have to get into gardening more this year.Working this shift I don't get enough sunlight so I'll have to get up and go out and catch some rays.
The nausea thing happened the last time I worked 11-7 too. Most people I talk with get it.Its like your body is fighting too stay awake at night and is throwing it out of its normal rhythm.I may give the Zantac a try.
Last night was quite the night. One of the patients fell and we found him lying on the floor.I was standing there getting ready to help him up when a pool of blood came from under his head.Thank God I had another nurse with me.None of his chart was in order and at least she knew where most paperwork was.We shipped to the hospital for catscan and we were able to stop the bleeding. His blood sugar was less than 20,so this may have been what caused him to fall.I just hope tonite is quieter so I can orient more to unit.
I'm going to do a little workout now.Have a great night~Linny~

Good Morning and TGIF!

I did a 40 minute I-Tread this am and really tried to push my speeds up. I burned 335 calories which is more than usual so I felt pretty good about it. It actually snowed here last night, enough to have to wear boots!x( . I am so sick of wearing boots and hauling shoes to work with me. When will it ever end?

Garance:
I don;t think I could take any screeching! Especially at 4:30 am LOL:eek: . I am so envious! You are all done and now get to have a real break! Get to those closets girl! ( that is the last thing I would do when I had a break...lol) I would read, read, sleep, read etc..Finally finished watching the DWTS tape. I think the right 2 people were sent home.

Linny:
How scary about the guy falling. Good thing you found him in time..I hope the Zantac works. Have you decided when you are going to sleep? That is always the big question to people on that shift. Hope your workout went well!

Have a great day!

Deb:)

Hi Deb and Linny--

This morning I did 4ds HIS with chest and back. Clocks in under 60 min. Yeah--Leslie's screeching and cheery cackling would get to me at 4:30 A.M. I don't know why she left out the music-only option on this one. I mean cueing is totally unnecessary--WALK, WALK, WALK, SIDE STEP, KICK, KICK. I do admire her incessant enthusiasm, but she should get a voice coach.

Yep--snowed here, too, and since we are up on a mountain, we had a lot more than down here in town. As my Norwegian friends in Minnesota would say, OOF DAH MY! Tiresome, tiresome, tiresome. I want to hear the peepers.

I watched my Netflix last night--Dan in Real Life. It was okay.

DH and I are going to do some more ballroom dancing lessons, starting next Friday night.

Monday, back to classes. Pride and Prejudice in one, Adrienne Rich in the other. Six more weeks, and then another school year is over.

Linny, WOW, I'd be so rattled. Hope the fellow is okay. Try the Zantac.

Hi Ladies:
Deb; We got snow too, about 4 inchesx( The weatherman said we hit all time records. This year we hit 2nd place since they started recording snowfall. So if we have any more snow we may be the snowiest in history. Was pretty scary driving home today, took me over an hour to get home.
I've been sleeping right when I get home till about 3pm,then up till about 730p and lie down till 9:30pm.I usually don't sleep but at least I'm resting. So I have been averaging about 6hours a day of sleep.I am so glad its the weekend and I can sleep tonite.
The Assist Director told me today that the state closed us for admission due to one of our unit having the flu.So we can not take admission till we are 48 hr symptom free.
Garance:I'm going to pick up some Zantac tomorrow.I've been pretty good today(no nausea)maybe my body getting used to this shift.Hope you have a nice relaxing weekend before its back to class monday. The birds have been going crazy today.Trying to bould a nest in the stove vent.I think they are wondering what the heck is going on with this weather.50's one day,30's the next.I can't wait for the sweet smells of spring.~Linny~

Good Morning and TGIF!

I am off to the tailor and to pick up my car that has been in storage for 5 months. I don;t drive it in the winter, but because of this snow, will have to use my garage until this weather breaks, if it ever doesx( .. I will have to leave my new car out in the snow..DH said he would leave his car out, but I don't think that is fair, and besides, mine had the remote start! Today is a rest day for me for working out. I have to start watching my eating..it has been really bad this week. I have been constantly eating the easter candy we bought.

Garance:
I love your descriptions of Leslie! :7 ..How fun that you and your DH will be taking dance lessons again!

Linny:
It sounds like you may be getting used to the shift. Too bad about being closed for admissions. Does this give the facility some type of "black mark" that will make them inspect you more often? I am right with you on being anxious for sprint to arrive.

Have a great day!

Deb

Hi Deb and Linny--

Today is my day off as well. Slept in to 7:30 and it felt good.

I watched my other Netflix last night--Rendition. Great acting but it was very disturbing. I'm really happy that all of the presidential candidates are opposed to torture, but I sure wish Congress had managed to pass that legislation outlawing it.

Tonight we are going out to dinner and I will probably get sushi. mmmm!

It is absolutely frigid here with wind chills in the single digits. I did hear on the radio, though, that it's going to be up in the 60s by Tuesday. Crossing my fingers they are right.

Enjoy the weekend ladies! I plan on doing my Christi Taylor tomorrow for a longer workout.
