Good Morning & Happy Memorial Day Weekend!

DH and I just got back from having breakfast at our favorite Greek diner. I don't even think about the calories at this one!

Today is a rest day for me. We went and got some flowers last night so I think I will try to get them planted today, if it ever warms upx( ..it is about 48 degrees here right now.. too cold for me!

Garance:
When Linny mentioned her clothes still had the tags on, I assumed price tags, which is good for selling on Ebay...you mentioned all tags, even the care ones, you remove..those would be tough to sell on Ebay! LOL:)

Linny:
You're right...you have to dedicate a couple of hours to the clothes situation..I did it a "closet at a time". There are still things I am going to get rid of, like coats and jackets I never wear. We have a cedar closet in our attic where these hang, and there are more Rubbermaid bins up there that I have not looked at in years. That is my next stop, before it gets so hot you can't stay up there for more than 5 minutes. "Batbird" to the rescue~ ~~~ maybe I should rent him out as a "Bat Detector" ~}( ..I LOL at the sight of your DH running around trying to get it to fly outside.. been there! It's really a 2 person job..and you are right..it's worse if it gets upstairs. Have fun at the lake!

I'll check in later...

Hi Deb,Garance and Josie:
Happy Memorial Day!
Deb:I did workout todat.Did LIC and back from PUB.Have to go to funeral this morning,a customer of DH died early this week. We'll be leaving for lake after service.
I'd be willing to rent Batbird from you.Bats freak me out.Last night I was consistantly looking around for bats.
We'll be going to Margaritas tonite, the one in Concord is in the old jail. Its pretty neat eating in little cells with bars.My DH was in one of cells in 70's when he got picked up for hitch hiking on highway.I told him its too bad he didn't etch Larry was here in wall.
You're right about price tags on clothes.I just can't pass up a deal even if its too smallx( I hope you get to plant your flowers.
Hi Garance and Josie!
Hope you ladies have a great weekend~Linny~

Hi Deb, Linny, and Josie--

This morning I cleaned house and made my caramel cake (tomorrrow I make the glaze), and boiled my little red potatoes for stuffing tomorrow. I'm just reading this afternoon.

Last night DH and I went to see the new Indiana Jones film. I loved the first third, enjoyed the second third, and thought the last third was a bit over the top. Overall, though, it was fun to see Indy again, and as many laughs as a thrill ride.

We have a lot of bats, but never any in the house. I am actually pretty thankful for them because they seem to keep the mosquito population way down. I didn't have a single mosquito bite last summer. But Linny, that episode sounds hilarious--hope your DH was pretty well covered in the chase. If my DH had to do this in the middle of the night, there would be very little clothing on.

Hmm--not sure I could eat in a jail cell. I get claustrophobic at times.

Enjoy the lake (crossing my fingers for you) Linny! Have fun at your party Deb! Celebrate your scholar, Josie!

Good Morning!

Today I did the Leg part of 4DS Kickbox/Legs. I am so glad this one is over. I look forward to my 2 upper body workouts this week and the I-Treads, but I always have to push myself to do the leg work.

Garance: maybe you can advise here:
I was doing some weeding this morning, and decided that one of the Flox plants had gotten a little to wild, so I decided to cut it back. I'm trimming it, grabbing a bunch here and there and cutting, and I look down into these big brown eyes of a baby rabbit! There were more in there, I just jumped up and basically backed up so I didn't scare them..I was so close to cutting into the next .I gathered up what I had cut and put it back, covering them again. I can;t believe Kelsey has not discovered them.. if Clancy was here...well I won;t even go there. DH worked on the fence 2 weekends ago and added more dirt and stones to the lower edge so Keegan won;t be able to get out..I hope Mama rabbit has been able to get in and feed them..I am now worried about them and if they are ok ;(

Is the cake one that you get requests for? it sounds yummy! Is it chocolate? Hard to make?

Linny:
My father had bats all over his house, getting in the attic etc. He had 2 bat houses put up at the end of his property and never had another one come in.. not sure why that works, but it does! Maybe DH and I should look into bat houses, since we have had 4 or 5 come in during the 23 years we have lived here. The restaurant sounds like fun!

Have a great day!

Hi Deb, Linny (at the lake, no doubt), and Josie--

This morning I did Christi Taylor's Dance Fit (70 min.).

Deb, I hate rabbits. They chew up my burning bush every winter, ruin the lettuce and other vegetables when they get into that garden, utterly destroyed my hollyhocks last year and so on. Our old dog Zack was utterly useless on rabbits. He loved to tear into groundhogs and foxes and had one devastating confrontation with a porcupine (the vet did a housecall to remove the nasty quills from his mouth, nose and muzzle), but maybe he was too contemptuous of the rabbits--beneath his consideration. DH shoots them when he sees them. They love to hide in his woodpile. My advice to you is DON'T LET THEM MULTIPLY if you can help it, or you will soon regard them as I do--pests! And I loved Watership Down.

This is the first time I have made the caramel cake. I saw the recipe at epicurious.com and the reviews made me drool. It's a really easy yellow cake--8 inch square. This morning I made the glaze, also very easy, and poured it over the cake and licked my spoon. MMMMMM--like butterscotch. I am serving it with coffee ice cream tonight. I will let you know how good it is.

Doing some sewing this afternoon and just enjoying this beautiful sunny weather--at last!!
