Good Morning!

I did not get on the computer all weekend....we were busy with errands, and things around the house, the time flew by.

Today I did an I-YTread for 35 minutes.

Garance:
What do you do on sabbatical? do you teach at all? You just started classes for this semester...does someone take over your classes? I finally watched all of Dancing this weekend...I'm sorry, but Cloris has to go! It's wonderful that she can do what she does at 82. I guess if they didn;t make it a comedy, she would look horrible. Who do you like for the winner? I know last season, you picked Kristie right away and you were righ! There are a few pretty good ones this time..it's hard to tell right now.

Linny:
Please let us know how you are doing! Did you see the DR?

Have a great day!

Deb

Hi...home for lunch and just checked in to see how everyone was doing...

Helllloooooo ....where is everybody???

Deb

Hi Deb, Linny, and Josie--

Yesterday I did SH legs and shoulders (60 min.) and this morning I did the double step cardio on 4ds (57 min.). I'm doing the SH series this week.

I start my sabbatical in January and won't be teaching all of 2009. You get one semester off every 3 years with full pay, or a whole year off every 6 with full pay, and you can add a semester of leave to either. I am adding a semester of leave to my one-semester sabbatical so that I can finish writing a book I have been working on. I will be on 3/4 salary for this fiscal year (7/08-7/09) and the next (7/09-7/10) as a result of extending my leave, but I have applied for some grants and expect to do well. No one teaches my courses when I am on sabbatical. They are just bracketed in the course catalogue until I come back. So, when I finish up this December, I will not be teaching again until January of 2010.

They just installed the espresso machine in the faculty lounge over the weekend. Woohoo! It is so easy and good. You just press a few buttons for flavorings and milk and voila--a cup of perfectly brewed Starbucks coffee for FREE! Some very nice anonymous donor gave this to each of the new faculty office buildings.

Went out to dinner on Saturday night to a very good restaurant in N. Bennington--Pangaea. Swordfish for me, perfectly cooked, lemon sorbet, and a Manhattan cocktail. DH had duck and creme brulee, his favorite. Another couple with us with another birthday close to DH's.

Hi Deb, Garance and Linny,

I woke up at 5:00 AM and did the PLB. I may try spinnign this evening depending on how I feel by the end of the day.

I spendt the whole weekedn with my GS. I had so much fun and miss him already.

Have to get back to work. Have a nice day!

Josie

Hi Ladies:
Well the results are in,Md says Rheumatoid Arthritis with possilbly Lupus. My blood tests were very high,MD says that could mean that I'll have the most severe type of RA.Its basically a wait and see game now.If I have a bad winter with my Raynauds disease they want to put me on cardiac meds, which help expand the blood vessels. He also wants me to go to a specialist for my hives. He never heard of getting hives in the cold and when I exercise. Its usually one or the other. It would be nice to get rid of one ailment.
Deb:I had a pretty busy weekend too.My DS moved out into his own place this weekend.Looks pretty bare in the apt.He doesn't have any furniture except his bed, bureau, and a tv and stand in livingroom.WE are going have to go to some second hand stores to get furniture.
Garance:Sounds like you had a fun weekend.I actually took my DH out for dinner sunday because I cashed in a PowerBall ticket(which I thought was only $7)turned out to be a $100.Your sabbatical sounds great, good luck with your book.
I think I' will try to get money back for STS preorder.I don't know when my RA symptoms will be in full force.
Josie:So nice have Grand kids over, makes me want to have another one. They say the cutest things. My oldest GD has a boyfriend now. She's fourteen and he's fifteeen. Can't believe how fast they grow.
Well have to lay down before work~Linny~

It's Tuesday!

Good Morning!

Today I did the PLB up only pre-mix, ( no floor excercises). wow that really kills me. I finally got it so I have 3 BB's working at once so the changes are not so bad.

The weather is cool here, but still a little on the humid side if that makes sense. We never got to our yard this weekend...it needs to be cleaned out. Lots of dead flowers etc.

Garance:
That sabbatical sounds great! I wish we had some type of program like that in my field! With that espresso machine, all the profs will be flying! Does caffine affect your sleep at all? YOur DH had a nice birthday!

Josie:
I bet you did the whole pyramid in PLB didn't you?
worship.gif
...I can't believe you were going to do a spinning class as well!

Linny:
Sorry about the diagnosis. At least you know what is going on and can start to work on it. I am glad the DR is also addressing the hive situation. I hope the specialist he sends you to can finally figure that out. Your DS should be able to get some decent stuff for his apt. AT least he will be on his own, without his DF and the issues there. How lucky on the Powerball ticket!

Have a great day !

Deb

Hi Deb, Linny, and Josie--

This morning I did SH chest and back (60 min.).

Today I am having the Cappucino with my bag lunch. Delish! Love that machine. I'm okay Deb if I don't drink any coffee after 2 in the afternoon.

So--I like the big football player Warren on DWTS, also Misty May-Treanor. Warren looks so light on his feet for being so large and his Pasa Doble was HOT!

Ahh, Linny, sorry about the diagnosis. Is there anything you can do to stave off the degenerative effects of RA? If your DS is close, will he spend much time with you for meals, etc.?

This afternoon we begin Richard III in my Shakespeare course. Wonderful villain and fun to teach.

Hi Ladies:
Starting to look and smell like fall around here.Soon it will be apple picking time.So it will be apple crumb pie baking forr me.DH's favorite dessert.DD called yesterday and wanted know if I wanted to go to a haunted house in 2 weeks.I was all for it then DH reminded me that it will be cold in 2 weeks,so I probably won't be able to go unless its a balmy night:( These hives stink!
Deb:Good Job with the workout. My DS came over for dinner and said his roommate got a table and chairs for kitchen. Now they just need a couch and maybe a chair for livingroom. He doesn't have much of a life right now,he works all day then got a part time job at night. But I told him if he lives beyond his means this is what he needs to do..
Have you been able to get any videos of the K's yet?
Garance:Hope you had fun teaching Richard III. I catch small out takes of DWTS's and looks like a fun show. I miss alot of shows working this shift. That cappucino machine sounds wonderful,we only have free coffee day once a week and its a Krup(?)machine.I love the caramel vanilla.
My DS lives probably about 2-3 miles away,so lately he gets out of work at 5:00 drives a half hour to my house eats dinner rides to his house changes shirt and goes to other job 6-10pm. Lucky he lives right next to store he works at.
I have started looking up alternative treatments for RA.I need to start eating less inflammatory foods.DH wants to do a body cleanse and eat more organic food.I'm willing to try.
Josie:Stay safe and don't workout to hard.
Got to go lay down before work.~Linny~

It's WEdnesday! Wake up and smell the coffee!

Good Morning!

kaffeetrinker_2.gif

No workout today for me...I woke up and actually started to get dressed, then decided I was too tired. I should have just gone ahead and done it...It is rainy and gloomy here today...I hope when the sun comes up it clears up.

Garance:
Good for you for doing S&H. It takes a lot out of you, but it is a great workout. What time do you have to be at school? You are lucky to be able to get an hour workout in. I love the cappacino with lunch!..I like the younger guys ( Lance & Cody) on Dancing, and Brooke & Tony. I think Misty-May could be good, but she is a little stiff and still looks like she is playing vollyball, kind of, not completely dancing yet. Max is my favorite star so I hope they stay in for a while so I can watch him!

Linny:
I love apple crumb pie too! Maybe you can give us the recipe? Good for you for looking for alternative treatments...I would bet there are many things you can do to keep it at bay. What type of foods should you avoid? It is great that DH is being so supportive and will do them with you!

Josie:
Hi...hope you are having a great workout today! How is that GS?

Have a great day ladies!

Deb

Good Morning Ladies,

I did PUB today and will be doing stairs this evenig. I did not meke it spinning class on Monday, but plan to add this to my weekly plan.

Linny, You should go to a health store and ask their nutritionis to help you out with a plan for your condition. My friend that died of lung cancer was on a plan for her fibro-myalgia (I know that it is probably not spelled right). She was told that the glutern in foods was bad for her.

Deb, Sometimes our bodies just tell us to rest and we should listen to our bodies. How are the k's doing? My GS was so much fun last weekend. He is going to be 4 in November and he loves to talk and he is so smart.

Garance, I don't have S & H, what can I use instead of these viedeo's. I would like to do the October rotation.

Have a great day!

Josie

Hi Deb, Linny, and Josie--

This morning I did Petra Kolber's Step Moves New Grooves--53 min.

I have a great schedule, Deb. My classes don't start until 1:10 in the afternoon, so I do my workout from about 6:30 to 7:30, shower and set my hair, eat breakfast, do some sewing or knitting while watching Regis and Kelly, then get ready for school and drive down to school (about 2 miles). Unless I have a luncheon meeting, I pack my lunch and check my computer while eating and then go to class. This afternoon is my seminar, so I will be in class from 1:10-3:50, but my other class meets from 1:10-2:25 on Tuesdays and Fridays.

Oh yes, let's see your recipe for apple crumb pie, Linny! Lots of apples here--close to orchards in Vermont, and here in Williamstown, it's Green River Farm. I like the really crisp apples--Ida Reds are probably my favorite. McIntosh just seem to get crumbly so quick.

DS and fiancee are coming this weekend. Not sure what I will cook yet for them.

Teaching Fanny and Alexander this afternoon. I published an article on this one, so I feel like I know the film by heart.

Hi Ladies:
Deb:I'm actually in my workout clothes right now.I'm planning on doing some yoga after posting.I;ll be sure to post apple crumb reciepe,I have to dig it up.My DH has wanted to do a body cleanse and clean eating for awhile now,my diagnosis just helps it become a reality.
Garance:Your schedule sounds great.Lucky,I'm sure you worked hard to get to this point. We have a apple orchard about 10 miles away and go picking every October.I'll be sure to go one time with DH and one time with my kids.Especially after last years blow-up between older DS and DH.
Josie:I am going to check at a health food store down the street.Hopefully they can point me in the right direction. You are so good to work out everyday.I need to kick myself in the butt.I saw a recent picture of DH's ex and I feel like a stuffed sausage.I think I will start writing everything down that I eat,it worked when I did weightwatchers.I weighed myself this morning and I'm 162 pds.It just to get higher and higher every week.:(
Well got to go do gome yoga~Linny~

Hey Ladies...It's Thursday!

Good Morning!

Rise and shine and start the day with a smile! :D....

Today I did a 40 minute I-Tread..284 calories. I woke up at 4:00 and decided to get up and not wait for the alarm. Both dogs didn;t stir so I crept downstairs, hoping that they would not immediately get DH up to let them out...so far so good! I went to my brothers last night to celebrate his birthday and ate way too much and bad things to boot! The cake and ice cream were the heathy things!

Garance:
I would love your schedule! I bet you will cook something really delicious for your DS's visit...let us know what you decide!

Linny:
What type of body cleanse are you going to do? ( if it's TMI for you to post, don;t worry about it!). I think the clean eating is a great idea! I like Josie's idea about seeing a nutritionist...or just someone that you feel knows what they are talking about in a good health food store. Does the DR have any recommendation on how to keep the symptoms at bay? Does he/she think food has an impact on them? I applaud anyone that does things like apple picking...I am so lazy...I am lucky if I remember to buy them when I go to the grocery store!

Josie:
Good for you for sticking to a plan like the Oct rotation. Does it have a 3 day split with S&H? Do you have the Gym Styles? they could be used instead.

Have a great day ladies! It's almost Friday....

Hi Deb, Linny, and Josie--

This morning I did SH bis, tris, and abs (60 min.).

Josie--I agree with Deb on substitution for SH. SH is also something you could try to do on your own. Cathe does 3 8-rep sets of 3 or 4 exercises for legs, shoulders, chest, back, tris and bis, and throws in some planks at the end of chest and back, and some ab work at the end of tris and bis. She uses an 8-count (either 2 down, 6 up or 6 down, 2 up) and rests a minute after each set. I tend to daydream on the rest periods, which some people find irritating. I just drift. Cathe has some particularly lame jokes on this series, so drifting is better than getting impatient.

Yep--I have a great schedule, although I also think it can lead to time mismanagement. I have to settle into my class preps and grading when I am not in class, and as I have mentioned, I am HORRIBLE about grading. I procrastinate, feel guilty, grade a few papers, and then I feel like I need to reward myself for being so conscientious.

On the subject of clean eating: as a thank you for a letter of recommendation I wrote, one of my students gave me a Ghirardelli tower. I have immediately been distributing this major temptation of chocolate, chocolate, and more chocolate. I just looked at the thing and said, "This must be a million calories that will just end up on my hips!" And then I ate a piece--just one. They did change the milk to low fat in the espresso machine at the request of several profs.

Paper grading this afternoon (sigh!).

TGIF!!

Good Morning!

...Up & Adam!

well no workout for me this morning...:(...DH was snoring so loudly last night that I went to the couch to sleep, and that is never good... oh well, at least I did 4 workouts this week, one more than I have been. We see a play this weekend, going to a 50th anniversary party of our dog club, a one year olds birthday party....Calgon..take me away!

Garance:
Good work on S&H...it is a tough one and one of my favorites! You will be ready for STS..if we are all still alive and able!..I can see how your schedule may have you not keep up with things, since it is really all managed by you and you alone. That chocolate tower sounds yummy...I would have it gone the first day! I LOL at your espresso machine! We have free coffee all day at work, but nothing fancy!

Josie:
Are you seeing your GS this weekend? running the dunes?

Linny:
How are you feeling girl? Please keep us updated..we are all here to support you ..sending ((good healing))) vibes your way!

Have a great day and a wonderful start to the weekend!

Deb

Hi Deb, Linny, and Josie--

This morning I did Cackle and Shriek (57 min.), and broke my green band on the final mile.

I think I will do one more week of SH and then move on to something else for my strength training.

I was really hoping for Mountain Day today, but it's drizzling. One Friday in October the President of the college calls off classes to enjoy autumn outdoors. Maybe next week.

Sounds like you have a busy weekend, Deb. I hope to relax a bit with DS and fiancee, but I also have class preps to do. Next week is Apocalypse Now and we start Macbeth on Friday. I wrote my dissertation on Macbeth, so I don't have to think much about those classes.

Today I am trying the cafe mocha. It's a bit too sweet for me, but I want to try all the buttons.

Have a great weekend everyone!

WAke up! It's Saturday!

MOVE IT....MOVE IT....MOVE IT...

276.gif

Just trying to get my act together! We have a contractor coming in a few minutes to give us an estimate on remodeling our bathroom...I am excited, but not looking forward to the mess, and the fact we will not have a shower for however long...what do people do in these situations? Can you rent a portable shower? I really don;t want to ask relatives to use theirs......

Garance:
Cafe Mocha is my favorite! To reduce the calories, I usually get it made with skim milk and no whip cream. We have a great place here called Tim Horton;s that will make you a half coffee , half hot chocolate for the same price as a cup of coffee and it's just like a mocha....yummm.

Waves Hi to Josie and Linny

Have a great day!

Deb
