Good Morning all,

Today I did 4DS legs. It looks like everyone is having a busy weekend. The weather is beautiful.

Have a good start to the week!

Hi Deb and any later posters--

This morning I did Physique 57--the 57 min. workout. I almost did not because I am on this all-liquid diet for the rest of the day, but last night I checked my measurements again, and I have definitely lost some inches--3/4 inch on each thigh and my waist is almost 1 1/2 inches smaller. So I decided not to take this opportunity to be a slug. Tomorrow definitely.

That's about all my news. Very fall-like here--spotty frost, but DH covered everything. I am trying to decide how earnest to be on winnowing my closets to make room for new purchases. I did buy a new "boyfriend" blazer and big scarf on Friday when I went shopping at our local boutique with a friend from NYC. It is perfect, and I wore it both yesterday and today. A new look and a tad gender-bending. My friend, who also bought one, thought it would be fun if the two of us wore ties from our DH's closets with it. I have also bought a couple dresses from myshape.com and a sweater and velvet coat in a shade called "prune" (a muted or greiged purple) from bodenusa.com. Cannot wait to wear all these new things!

I will check in tomorrow afternoon after my "procedure." Blech!

Monday

Good morning,

Very tired today. I did not sleep well so I did not get up to work out.

Garance, good luck with the procedure today..I think you will need to make some room for all those new purchases. It was the most gorgeous day yesterday, high 70's, sunny blue sky, it was a perfect summer day. Too bad we did not get these days in the actual summer. We had dinner at my brothers outside, that is how nice it was. Are you using your Tower for the Physique 57 workouts? Over on the Open forum they say it works great for that..

Only 3 days before I leave for California. STarting to get "pre-trip" jitters..which is normal for me whenever I travel for more than an hour plane ride.

Hope everyone had a good weekend.

Hi Ladies,

I did not wo yesterday, I was too tired to get up. We stayed out late on Saturday.
I may go spinning today.

Garance, I looked at the web sites where you bought your clothes and I love them.
I will be shopping there. How many pounds did you loose by clensing you tummy?

Joan, how is your mom doing and how are you holding up?

Cathy, is it a bit cooler where you live now?

Deb, I'm with you on flying. I get a bit nervous myself.

Have a great day ladies.

Josie

Hi Deb, Josie, Joan, and Cathy--

This morning I did get up at 6:30 to take the final dosages of Osmoprep: 4 pills every 15 min. 3 times with 24 oz. of H2O. Last night it was 5 dosages over 75 min. with 8 oz. water each time. I am so glad they developed this new way to prepare for colonoscopy. Those enormous jugs just stymied me--I would start puking halfway through, call the doctor, then do enemas. Anyway, this was much easier, and everything went fine. 2 tiny polyps that I will hear about in a few days.

Deb, I am still using a chair for Physique 57 because DH is so busy right now. I do plan on using it for those workouts, though, when DH can help me put it together. A pig slaughter the last two weekends, soccer refereeing over in NY, taking me for my "procedure" today, tons of wood orders, and perfect weather for 3rd cut hay. This morning was also very busy because he had the bull Mr. Kool pasturing too close to a couple of yearling heifers, one of which was in heat. The bull went through the electric fence and DH found him standing side by side with her (this is how he "courts"), and DH wasn't sure if a bucket of grain would persuade him to come back to the cows. He took a picture of both of them, though, because he said there was steam rising from their bodies. I guess the term "in heat" is absolutely TRUE. Anyway, the bull decided to follow the grain and the heifer, scheduled for slaughter in January, was not bred. Dh is pretty sure not because he says their tails--the ladies-- look all kinked up for a week after the deed. Never a dull moment around here. He has to keep track of these female things, and he thinks he was off by a couple days.

Josie, the thing I like about Boden is that there are all those reviews, and you get advance discounts on each new collection. My prune velvet coat was out of their winter collection, which isn't online yet. The myshape.com site is great once you give them your measurements. Free shipping and returns, and the clothes FIT. They also have a lot of sales. The two dresses I bought were onsale already, and then they had an extra40 coupon for three days, so I bought both of them for 80 dollars. One of them looks like a Diane von Furstenburg wrap in a red print, and the other is a fortuny pleated chiffon, double layer in lilacs, purples, that I intend to wear with my prune velvet coat.

Gosh! I have been blabbing awhile here. Must be the energy from finally having some solid food. Consomme and lemon ices don't take you very far.

Hi to Cathy and Joan!

ah well, josie, it was a bit, but today it was 96, so it is still summer here., but soon. and we may get some rain tomorrow, hopefully.

sorry to be so awol, just been so busy. and then, my computer has been a pain. anyway, i finished STS last friday, and i am so glad. absolutely worn out! so, i have not worked out for 3 days, but i have been very busy regardless of not working out.
not sure what i'm gonna do this week. don't even feel like looking at a rotation right now. just wanna rest.

Good morning,

No workout today. I was sitting at my desk yesterday, just doing e-mail, or whatever and this shooting pain went through my knee...I could hardly move my leg...then it subsided, but came back a couple of times afterwards...I didn't think much about it until I was in bed last night and it really started to hurt...I can't hyper-extend my knee, or straighten my leg. Can't put it down with full weight either...strange. I sure hope it is better by the time we leave Thursday. I don't want to have to run through an airport like this.

Josie, I don't think Garance's cleansing is anything anyone would do voluntarily..

Garance, glad all went fine with the test. Glad your DH was able to get Mr Kool back where he belongs. Most people don't realize there is a real science in raising animals..

Cathy, take a rest week, that is what is supposed to happen after STS anyway. Glad you may get some rain.

take care

Hi Ladies,

Today is my Kevin wo plus cardio. I have meeting this afternoon and can not do my spinning at lunch time.

Deb, I sent you a check this morning. I received all the items yesterday.

Cathy, I hope that you guys get some rain. We also need some here in Los Angeles.

Garance, thank you for the informaiton on the clothing. I will be buying from them.

Joan, how are you and your DM doing?

Josie

Hi Deb, Josie, Joan, and Cathy--

This morning I did BM 2 Cardio and Weights premix (70.5 min.).

Tomorrow I won't be exercising because I am off to Northampton and Smith's Rare Book Room to look at some stuff--more specifically, the Baskin engravings, etchings and prints for Capriccio and a big exhibit of Plath and Hughes put together by Karen Kukil, my favorite curator. I will be having lunch with her too.

Deb, I think you may have a torn meniscus and part of it is getting stuck. This is what happened to DH and it was really sudden. He was just walking in a supermarket parking lot and whammo! shooting pain and couldn't really bend the knee! If that's what it is, the good news is that arthroscopic surgery can probably fix it, and the rehab time for DH was 2 weeks. Did you watch DWTS last night? I found some of them hilarious. DH wondered what I was guffawing about. Stiff hips on the Hammer, DeLay. And that martial arts guy--no rhythm WHAT-SO-EVER!

Have fun shopping, Josie! From the fall offerings in Boden, I bought the boyfriend sweater in navy, the Henley merino wool dress in red, the little red and purple striped sweater with the cute buttons on top, and the sort of hippie style little dress with the cape sleeves, which I have already worn several times. Makes me feel young, and I get lots of compliments.

Cathy, I just cannot imagine 96 degrees anymore. We didn't reach 90 more than a couple times all summer. Sounds like you are taking a much-deserved rest after STS.

Hope all is well with you and your mom, Joan.

Wednesday

Good morning!

I did not workout on purpose this morning. My knee seems to have gone back to normal..strange as that may sound, but I did not want to tempt fate as they say. By last night I could put full weight on it, go up and down stairs with no problems. very strange.

We will be leaving for California very early tomorrow, and I will be back late Monday. I hope someone keeps the thread up, starts a new one on Sunday.

Josie, was everything that you got the right stuff? You were supposed to get some type of candle or something as a free gift with the Avon stuff, did that happen?

Garance, I have DWTS taped for Monday and Tuesday nights, I plan on zipping through them this afternoon, I am only working a half day today, need to pack etc. Will check out that Boden site..I also have a 20% off anything you buy coupon for Talbots.

Joan, how is your Mom doing? Have you felt better lately?

Cathy, did you decide what to do after your week of resting?

Have a good week!

Hi Ladies,

I will be spinning this evening. I had a good wo last night, my upper body is sore and my core.

Deb, I did get everything plus the candle. I alreay used it, my house smelled like Thanksgiving.

Garance, I will probably buy something next month, I'm trying to loose 5 more pounds and then I will treat myself to some fall clothes.

Joan, where are you?

Cathy, are you enjoying your time off or are you feeling guilty?

Josie

Hi ladies,

My modem stopped working last Wednesday and I finally got the new one today. I can't believe the withdrawal pains from not being able to talk to you.

DM is fine so far. Last Wednesday we were at cardiologist for five hours - only 3 hours of testing but we LIKE to wait. All test turned out ok so surgery is set for Sept. 30. Fortunately Wednesday dh took off work so Elliot wasn't there. We basically have an appt everyday until Oct 13 (not the weekend:)) The last 5 days are twice a day radiation. This is not the 6 weeks of radiation they thought they were going to do. They told my mother they would probably be able to do this shortened version because they didn't want her to have total mastectomy. She was trying to get out of radiation but total was much bigger operation.

Garance I ordered physique 57 and got it Friday with my power tower. I did the 57 minute wo instead of disc 3 legs - I fast forwarded the upper body. The power tower is very easy to assemble. They even gave you the screw driver. I used the tower for physique 57. With disc 2 I was able to do 12 of the bent knee(easiest) pullups. I think I will need to do legs more than once a week.

Sunday I got a cold and haven't done anything. I hope to catch up by the end of the week.

Joan

Hi Deb, Josie, Joan, and Cathy--

No workout for me this morning. I just returned from Smith where I had a lovely lunch with Karen and a good time looking at her Yaddo exhibit.

Don't worry, Deb, I will start a new thread on Sunday. That's what happened with DH on his knee--the meniscus flap would sometimes get stuck and cause trouble and pain, and then it would get unstuck and he would be fine. Hope your knee just remains trouble-free and I am wrong about the torn meniscus.

Josie, that sounds like a good idea on losing weight--reward yourself!

Joan, that sounds like neverending appointments! How did you like Physique 57? Any doms? Now you have inspired me to get my tower together all by myself. I am such a non-mechanical person, but it's that easy??

It's Indian Summer here today, Cathy. In the 80s, but it sounds like it's just this one day.

Hi Ladies,

My spinning class was great last night and I was very tired. I slept great! Today is my wo with Kevin plus 25 min on the stepper.

Garance, I made the penne pasta with sausage last night. My DD loves it and had a taste for it.

Deb, Have a good trip!

Joan, I'm glad to hear from you and that you DM is getting her sugery.

Cathy, did you get any rani yet?

Have a great day everyone!

Josie

Hi Josie, Joan, and Cathy--

This morning I did Kelly C-M's Cardio Sculpt Fitness (70 min.)

Josie, I have a couple other terrific pasta recipes if you are interested: Apple Harvest Linguine and Beer Brat Pasta. Let me know and I will put them up. We just had the Apple Harvest Linguine at DH's request.

I hope Deb has a safe, uneventful trip.

The two polyps I had removed were NOT precancerous. Another 5 years until the next colonoscopy. I'm just glad it's over and no more dread factor.

Hi to Joan and Cathy!

Hi everyone,

Garance good news on colonoscopy. I haven't got doms in legs but it really hurt while doing the exercises.

I have almost decided that I had flu instead of cold after reading the symptoms. I had fever, sore throat, runny nose and lingering cough. It's supposed to be mild over 50 bcause we have partial immunity. In St Louis it has already hit the school system and been gone already.

Yesterday I did get disc 4 in and the bonus legs of disc 3. Today(Thursday) I did basic step.

Josie I like the idea of buying clothes after weight loss. Unfortunately I have clothes in lots of different sizes and this time I have told myself I have to have a 30-35lb weight loss before I should buy new.

Joan

Hi Ladies and happy Friday,

My wo went well last night and I'm happy because the scale finally started to move.
I had hit a plato and it was stuck at 167, but in the last week and a half I'm down to 163 as of this morning.

Joan, I also have a few different sizes in my closet and they are some of my favorite suits.
They are classic cuts that never go out of style and can't wait to fit into them again. I will buy some new items that complement what I already have.

My DH had to fly to Washington DC this morning and will not be back until tomorrow evening, so I have to find something to do. I might go get a manicure and pedicure or some shopping at the mall or go to the promenade and have a nice dinner.

Hi to Garance and Cathy.

Josie

Hi Josie, Joan, and Cathy--

This morning I did the 30 min. Physique 57 workout for abs and arms, followed by 2 miles with Leslie (26 min.).

Today is DH's birthday, so we are going out with another couple to a new bistro in Pittsfield. Should be fun.

Okay, Josie, here are two family favorites for pasta.

APPLE HARVEST LINGUINE

1 lb. linguine
6 slices smoked bacon
1 green apple, cored and sliced into 16 wedges
1 red apple, cored and sliced into 16 wedges
1 small onion
3/4 C. frozen apple juice concentrate, thawed
1 C. chicken broth
1 C. heavy cream
3/4 C. shredded sharp Cheddar cheese
2 Tbsp. snipped fresh chives
pinch nutmeg
3/4 tsp. salt
1/4 tsp pepper

1. Cook pasta according to pkg. instructions.
2. Meanwhile, cook bacon in large skillet until crisp. Transfer bacon to paper toweling to drain; crumble.
3. Pour off all but 1 Tbsp. fat. Add apples; cook over medium high heat for 6 min. until golden and softened; transfer to plate. Add onion to skillet; cook over medium heat 4 min.
4. Pour apple juice concentrate, broth and cream into skillet; simmer for 8-10 min. or until slightly thickened. Add cheese, chives, and nutmet, stirring until cheese is melted. Season with salt and pepper.
5. Drain pasta and toss in large bow with sauce, bacon, and apples. Serve warm with some grated cheddar on the side.

BEER BRAT PASTA

Heat over to 425 degrees

2 sweet red peppers, cored, seeded and cut into thin strips
1 medium-size onion, coarsely chopped
4 cloves garlic, chopped
2 Tbsp. olive oil
1 lb. fresh Bratwurst
1/2 C. beer
1 lb. rigatoni
1/2 C. torn fresh basil
1 1/2 C. shredded Cheddar cheese
1/2 C. reserved pasta water

1. Mix red pepper, onion, garlic, and olive oil in 13 by 9 by 2 inch baking dish and roast in
425 degree oven for 25 min., stirring occasionally.
2. Remove casing from Bratwurst, crumble and cook in a skillet over medium-high heat until no longer pink, for 3-5 min. Add beer and simmer about 3 min.
3. Meanwhile, cook pasta according to pkg. directions
4. When draining pasta, reserve 1/2 C. of the pasta water. Place pasta in serving bowl. Add the vegetables, bratwurst with beer, basil and 1 C. of the cheese; toss to mix thoroughly, adding some of reserved pasta water if sauce is too dry. Top with remaing cheese and serve.

DH and sons made sure there was none left when they were all at home. I have to watch my portion-size on these because they are so yummy. I usually serve with a tossed salad on the side.

Good for you, Josie, on the weight loss! I will check tomorrow to see if the 3 lbs. I lost in the colonoscopy prep stays off. Probably not since I'm going out to dinner tonight.

Joan, I just plain groan on the legs in the long Physique 57 workout. Sunday I will be using my tower, though. DH put it together for me.

I'm wearing my Bodenusa Henley dress today, because it's kind of nippy out there today, and it feels good. I bought it in the coral-red shade and I have grey leggings.

Hi to Cathy!
