Cathlete
Good Morning,

Today I did 4DS legs.....now I really appreciate that 1 minute rest that Cathe has in Meso 2 STS workouts....I had to pause the DVD player a couple of times to catch my breath on this one. 43 minute, 289 calories.

It is beautiful here today, lots of sunshine and not hot at all. DH went to a gun show in Rochester ( about an hour away from here) and I have all the house stuff I didn;t do yesterday facing me today...

We did go to the little village street fair and I bought apple butter, and 2 kinds of jam, sugar free. One was black cherry, and one called Razzle which has 3 differnt berries in it. The apple butter is just apples and cinnamon...very good.

Hope you are all having a good weekend!

Hi Deb and any later posters--

This morning I did Physique 57, 57 min. of tough work, especially lower body. I don't mind the weight work on this, but the thighs, buns, and abs are groan-city. I am expecting more doms. On the other hand, my jeans look better from behind.

Went to see District 9. Really compelling film--one I might teach at some point.

Rain yesterday and quite cool. Today is sun and clouds mixed and a good deal milder.

Working on some complicated poems this week. Plus the illustrations by Leonard Baskin for them. Phew! I cannot wait until this chapter is done. Hughes is at his least likeable when writing about his mistress (who also committed suicide and wrote in her will: "To Ted Hughes, I leave my no doubt welcome absence and my bitter contempt." He richly deserved the contempt, believe me.).

WHEW! hi ya'll, sorry to be so absent this week. been so busy. and my husband kinda hogs the computer when he's home. LOL!
i am so ready to be done w/STS. i didn't feel like this the first time. i did not even finish this week. i still have one disc to do on wk 3. i had another meltdown yesterday. laid on the couch all day. just too tired to do anything. so, gonna try and do disc 33 tomorrow, then finish up wk 4. i am REALLY tired. i feel better tonite. was gonna try to do d33 today, but didn't have time. so, i feel rested. hopefully i can finish up this week.

a friend of mine has PX90 , and i was thinking about borrowing it. what do ya'll think of it? is it as hard as STS? and, how much of a break should i take if i decide to do it?
anyway, that is my life. just, go,go,go all the time it seems. i have not had time to even read anything on here this week, so, gotta try to catch up sometime.

Hi everyone,

Tomorrow I am starting STS again. I didn't wo this weekend. I did clean office so I could work and get to my exercise equipment.

Garance I did look at the preview of physique 57. I like the wo but is the instructor annoying? It seems like she would be. I was thinking of substituting some of it for the leg work in sts.

Hi Josie and Cathy.

Joan

mERRY mONDAY!

Good Morning,

Today I did a 30 minute I-Tread plus STS Meso 2 week 2 Chest.

Garance, I am glad all those DOMS are finally paying off for you!

Cathy, I have done P90X and I like STS better. The upper body work in P90x is good, lots of pull ups, and chin ups, lots...but the leg work is "ho hum', at least it was for me. Why don't you take a week break, then try doing STS the way I am. I am really enjoying it this way and I get 2 extra cardio sessions in with the same amount of time spent.

Joan, how is your Mom doing? How far did you get in STS?

DH's Mom is not doing well. We have plane reservations to go on the 24th, I am hoping she is ok. Originally we wanted to go this week, but have no one to take the dogs, and his sister from Seattle was going on the 25th so we made reservations to be there at the same time, kind of a reunion. Now we are wishing we were there now. His siser is already there because she is not doing well..we are taking it day by day. Each time the phone rings, DH's heart flips...:(

Have a good one..

Hi Deb, Josie, Joan, and Cathy--

This morning I did the Cardio and upperbody premix on Drill Max (60 min.).

Deb, so sorry to hear about your MIL. It must be hard to have her so far away.

Joan, surprisingly she doesn't bother me on Physique 57. I thought she might too, but it's more like an ongoing pep talk, which I really need to keep going with all those reps on my butt and thighs. There's one point where you are leaning your head on your folded arms on the chair, so you cannot really see what is going on, but she guides you through it with directions, and it's sort of comforting in a perverse way to just have your head on your arms. When I start STS again (still waiting for my tower), I think I will use these for my legs, because they really seem to be working. Even DH has noticed--but then he has always been a fan of booties.

Cathy, it sounds like you need a break from STS. I have never done P90X so I cannot advise. And I don't really want yet another investment in more DVDs when I have just bought Physique 57 last month and there will be a whole slew of new ones in the Shock Cardio I preordered from Cathe.

Hi to Josie!!

Anybody interested in my recipe for refrigerator pickles?

oh deb, this is my 2nd time thru STS anyway, i think i need more than a week, but, how are you doing it? did you post it on here somewhere?

oh yeah, me too linda, i would borrow it from my friend, but i am not gonna buy it. no way.

well, feelin' better today, did disc 33, and then did "Finding your core" from the TLT series w/susan harris. i don't like to waste a whole workout on that one. it is a great workout , but of course alot of core/abs which is great. only got abs in one time last week. so, great workout today.

Hi everyone,

Deb Sorry about your mil. I know how hard it is when you can't do anything.

I finished sts the first time through. Now is round 2. I finished no eq abs and disc 1.

Tomorrow is mother's appt with cardiologist so we can see if she can have surgery or not Wed. Another afternoon appt so a late nap time.

Tuesday

Good Morning all,

Today I did a 30 minute I-Tread, plus STS shoulders. 340 calories burned.

DH spoke with his sister last night, but has not decided whether he will go out to California earlier than planned. His Mom is basically sleeping all the time, they have her on a morphine drip. Either way we wil be going out next week Thursday, one way or another.

Garance, always interested in any recipe you want to give us!

Cathy, here is what I am doing this week:

Sun: 4DSLegs
Mon: I-Tread 30 min plus STS Meso 2 wk 2 Chest
Tues: different I-Tread, plus STS shoulders
Wed: different I-Tread plus STS triceps
Thurs: different I-tread plus STS back
Fri : different I-Tread plus STS biceps

I am working each part the same amount as if I was doing the workouts as is, but able to get 2 more cardio sessions in, without adding any more time. I actualy should have done the kickbox part of 4DS on Sunday and I would have added 3 more sessions.

Joan, good job on the workout...what is the ab one you did? I am sorely lacking in ab /core work, my least favorite body part to work on.

Josie, how are you doing?

Have a good day!

Hi Ladies,

I was very busy yesterday and was not able to post. I did not wo on Sunday or Monday.
Today is wo with Kevin and I will be going spinning at lunch time.

Garance, I'm glad that your new videos are working for you. My DH is a booty man also.

Deb, where does you MIL live? You don't take a day off for wo at all?

Cathy, every time that I see the informatial for PX90 I get tempted to get it.

Joan, good luck today on the Dr. Appt.

Have a great day ladies!

Josie

Hi Deb, Josie, Joan,and Cathy--

This morning I did the Physique 57 30 min. workout for arms and abs plus 2 miles with Leslie. The ab work is brutal, but I think it is really working on my post menopause pooch.

Deb, that sounds really serious. Is MIL in a lot of pain?

Okay--Here's my recipe for refrigerator pickles. Easy and really delicious.

7 cups thinly sliced cukes (I prefer the ones for pickling, but you can use any kind. It takes about 5 cukes)
1 thinly sliced large onion (slice from top to bottom vertically so you get strips, not circles)
2 Tbsp Kosher salt

Now toss these ingredients together and let them sit for 2 hours. This is maceration, and really softens and pulls out a lot of liquid.

After 2 hours, drain.
Mix with two cups sugar (I know this sounds like a lot, but remember these are pickles and you don't drink the juice! At least I don't.)
Pour in 1 cup white vinegar, 1 tsp. mustard seed, and 1 tsp. celery seed. Mix all together.

Cover and put her in the fridge for a couple days and voila, you've got some great pickles for your sandwiches.

Now's the time to do it because of all the cukes either home-grown or at farmer's markets.

Back to work here on my writing. Big meeting this afternoon on tenure decision, so it's a short afternoon for me.

Good evening all,

Today's wo was Imax 2.

Doctor's appt went as expected. He doesn't want to give approval for surgery without more tests. Since dh was taking tomorrow off for surgery I got them to schedule tests tomorrow. If all ok the surgery will be Sept. 30.

Deb the ab wo is from sts. It was the no equipment ab wo. I can't believe how sore I am from it and disc 1. I don't remember being this sore the first time through.

Joan

Wednesday

Good Morning,

No workout for me this morning..the alarm rang and I just turned it off and stayed in bed.

Dh's Mom passed away late Monday night..his sister called him yesterday morning. He is numb.. ..it hasn't hit him yet. We will still be going out there next Thursday (9/24) as planned...instead of a family reunion it will be a memorial...she was a great lady...

Garance, thanks for the recipe. Obviously they are kept in the refrigertor, but how long can they be kept like that?

Josie, MIL lives in Saratoga California, a suburb of San Jose. I take Saturday as a rest day, whether I have worked out all other days or not!

Joan, I have never tried any of the ab workouts from STS...they are too long. I like ab workouts to be about 10 minutes, or I don;t do them at all...shows too..lol...hope all goes well with your Mom and tests.

Take care.

Hi Ladies,

Workout went well yesterday, I ended up doing my spinning at lunch then wo with Kevin for 30 minutes and he put me on the stepper for 25. I slept so well last night after that wo. Today I will be spinning for 45 min.

Deb, I'm so sorry to hear about you MIL. Your DH must be having a hard time with it.

Joan, I hope that everything goes well with the tests so that your DM can have her surgery.

Hi to Garance and Cathy.

Josie

Hi Deb, Josie, Joan and Cathy--

This morning I did Kelly C-M's Cardio Sculpt Fitness (70 min.). I think I might try some of her shorter premixes on this one. They look to be about 45 min. long.

Deb, so sorry about your MIL. I remember you sending her The Help and saying how much she enjoyed it. I hope her passing was peaceful. The pickles will keep for several weeks--if they last! Mine tend to disappear pretty quickly. DH loves them and I always have some with my lunch.

I received my shipping notice for the tower. Should be here tomorrow. I will have to get DH to put it together for me, but I think I will wait until October to start STS again. I'm doing so well with my workouts right now, so I will stay in my current rut.

Joan, you certainly have had your share of appointments for your mom. I think I would be kind of irritated that they cannot be more efficient in getting all the information needed in fewer appointments. Hope all the tests work out for her.

Kind of grey here today. I'm still hoping for one more spell of warmer weather.

Thursday

Good morning,

Thank you for all the kind words about MIL.

I did not workout this morning, and I was awake before the alarm went off...I have to give myself a big kick in the "you know what" and stop this nonsense. It's OK if you want to yell at me...I need it!

Josie, send some of that energy this way please. Do you still want the powder? If so, give me the exact description and I will start the Ebay hunt!

Garance, I got my shipping notice as well. UPS will attempt to deliver it to DH's office today, of course this is the day is office is closed so I guess it will come tomorrow. I am trying to figure out how I will fit it in my workout space. I may have to disassembe my regular weight bench. I am torn because it has a leg curl attachment, not that I use it that often...it may be a good excuse to clean up that area.

Joan, how is your Mom doing?

Cathy, Hi...if you are checking in..is it getting cooler there?

Have a good day..

Hi Ladies,

I did not wo last night. I will be doing some cardio at lunch time and then my wo with Kevin.

Deb, thank you for reminding me about the powder. I sent you an e-mail with the information and another with the info. for some new avon products that I wan to try.
Now for the yelling. GET YOUT BUTT OFF THE BED OR COUCH AND START WORKIG OUT!!!

Cathy, are you gettin any more rain down there?

Garance, If I make those pickeles I will eat them all.

Joan, How is your DM? Is she in good spirits?

Have a great day!

Josie

Hi Deb, Josie, Joan, and Cathy--

This morning I did the Physique 57 30 min. workout and then added on 2 miles with Leslie, which was strenuous enough after the leg work in Physique 57.

DEB, YOU HAVE TO STOP THIS SHILLY-SHALLYING AND TOMFOOLERY AND KEEP ON YOUR WORKOUT SCHEDULE! This sounds like my mom when she wanted me to do something. Hope it works for you as well as it used to work for me.

Josie, if you are a pickle lover, you must try these. I think they taste most like the little cucumber salads you get in Japanese restaurants. I just grab a few every day when I pack my lunch. By the way, did you finish the Story Sisters?

Anymore news about your mom, Joan?

Has fall arrived for you Cathy?
