Wow busy day today. I did my circuit workout, then started doing things around here. DH and I spent 3 hours in his office yesterday and another one hour today, replacing veneers on 5 of my teeth...ugh...glad that is over.

Garance, Hope the weather held out for the performance yesterday...where are you today?

Joan, keeping your Mom in my prayers.

Josie, what are you up to this weekend?

Cathy, how was the horse show?

see you in the am!

Monday

Hi,

Today I did a 40 minute I-Tread...whew....it was a hard one. I ended up walking the last 5 minutes, instead of doing her crazy sprints...

Where is everyone?

Hi Ladies,

I did my workout this weekend as I stated before. It was too hot here to do anything else.
You have probably been watching the news regarding the fires here in LA. They are terrible and the air quality is bad. You can see a layer of smoke through out LA.

Today I will be spinning with my friend Claudia.

I will be back later.

Josie

Hi Deb, Josie, Joan, and Cathy--

This morning I did Amy Bento's Cardio Combat Surge--the premix without the surges (63 min.). Yesterday I did the Physique 57 full body workout (57 min.). If these Physique 57 workouts don't shake things up, then I am getting a lot of lower body doms for nothing! Saturday was the worst. Not so bad today. They are really tough imo.

Went to Jacob's Pillow on Saturday to see Doug Filkins' "postmodern, deconstructed" version of The Sound of Music: "Fraulein Maria." It was absolutely hilarious. I couldn't stop laughing at Filkins himself doing a breakdance to "Climb Every Mountain." There were three Marias and one of them was a short, rather plump fellow who was also fun.

Josie, I have heard a lot about those fires on the news. I hope all is well with you. It sounds very dangerous.

Deb, the weather on Saturday was awful. Cold drizzle all day. Today it feels like fall--only 64 degrees at the moment.

Joan, if you want some serious doms for your legs, try the Physique 57 workouts. If you hate them, you can send them back within 30 days for any reason.

Cathy, how was the horse show?

ok, i was checking to see if my post worked. i tried 3 times earlier and it would not post for me. so, gonna try again.

disc 28 today. super duper workout!!!! this is the 7 rep one. love those 7 reps. LOL! here are my wts i used:

flat bench 53
bb row 60
ch fly 24
1 arm row 34
incline bench 50
deadlift 60
incline fly 23
horiz. row 29

had a great workout. the last rep was tough on all of them,so that is good. did extended stretch, which felt VERY good after all the riding i did this weekend.
will catch up on all posts later. g2g for now. :)

Hi Josie, Deb, Garance and Cathy,

Sunday I started meso 3 over with disc 25 but used weights from last week of wo. I thought I would be sore today but only a little in my lower back.

Doctor's appt is Tuesday at 2:00-of course during nap time. They are only going do give us the diagnosis and options. I wish they would just schedule the surgery. I don't know why they need to drag this out. It's been almost 4 weeks since original doctor said we needed to follow up on mammogram.

bbl if I get wo in.

Joan

Tuesday

Good Morning!

I did my home made Circuit this morning, 41 minutes, 296 calories. It is getting easier, which means I either have to add something, or jog longer between sets. My goal is to be able to jog longer, but it will be hard..

It is beautiful here this morning, very cool and no humidity..yay!

Josie, yes I have seen the coverage on the fires...very scary. Sometimes when I see that, I think that blizzards are no big deal.

Garance, I sure hope those workouts do something for you as well, they do look pretty hard. I think it's also because they are so different, your body is not used to those kinds of moves.

Cathy, wow you are really doing well with the weights!

Joan, I know what you mean about waiting for diagnosis. Same thing happened with my MIL...."hurry up and wait"...sending ((good vibes)) your way. I hope things turn out ok.

Time to shower and get some breakfast! Have a good day.

Hi Deb, Cathy, Joan and Garance,

I went spinning last night with a new instructor. He was tough and kept me at 90% on the heart rate monitor. He has done the Aids Life Cycle 5 times and told me that I will have no problem doing it. He said that we usually put in between 20 to 25 miles per class.

The scale finally moved and I'm at 164.5. Today is my Kevin wo and 30 minutes of cardio.

Joan, you would think that the doctors would like to get the problem resolved ASAP, but they always drag their feet. I will continue to pray for you DM.

Cathy, you are a strong lady. I guess it is from picking up your grand kids.

Deb, the air quality is terrible again today. The biggest fire will not be put out for another 2 weeks it is only 5% contained. I can see the smoke clouds on my way to work.

Garance, what did you make for dinner last night?

Josie

Hi Deb, Josie, Joan, and Cathy--

This morning I did the arms and abs Physique 57 (30 min.) followed by 2 miles with Leslie (25 min.).

Joan, that must be very frustrating. If they schedule surgery, I wonder how long the delay will be on that as well. Good luck on Elliot during naptime! She sounded so angelic last week.

Cathy, those are very impressive weights! I'm doing these body weight routines with Physique 57 and find them very difficult on my legs and butt.

Josie, I made pork kabobs with pineapple chunks. You make a rather spicy hot marinade for overnight and a sweet and sour sauce to serve. Very good. Another epicurious.com recipe. Leftovers tonight with roasted baby Yukon golds. I agree with Deb--I prefer our Nor'easters to out-of-control fires. Isn't there some possibility of a hurricane, too, on the west coast?? Or is that too far south.

Tomorrow I think I will be playing hooky and go to see a movie because it's moving in day on campus and probably won't find a place to park. Students, students everywhere--and with their parents.

Good evening all,

No wo yet.

We sorta got the results. Mother does have breast cancer and has to decide between partial or full mastectomy. Just removing lump and around it will need 6 weeks of radiation. Full has only 10% chance of radiation. Both have similar outcomes. Partial is done as outpatient, full mastectomy is overnight. With just removing the lump, 30% must go back for additional surgery. Additional lab work must be done to determine if cancer has spread and if drugs are needed to inhibit estrogen. Good news is it does look like it is very small and probably has not spread. They will call whenever they get final results. We then need to make appointment with anesthesiologist to see if he will be willing to put her under. If not no surgery. This shouldn't be a problem because she had no problems a couple of years ago when she had gall bladder out.

I did get wo in yesterday. It was basic step.

Joan

Hump Day

Good morning,

Just a quick note, I did not get up early today to workout...very tired and back is slightly sore. I think I needed a mid week rest day.

Josie, it sounds like training for that bike ride is going to be tough! We know you can do it! ;)

Garance, BTW, how did you like that Garnier face roller skin stuff? I have been meaning to ask you for a while. What movie will you be seeing? Are you back to campus for actual classes this semester?

Joan, good news on your Mom...DH's mom had same diagosis, but could not have surgery because of her heart. They are afraid to use any type of anestesia ( sp?) on her.. so she will wait it out. Hopefully the cancer does not spread.

Cathy, I hope you are getting some relief from the heat.

Off to work..

Hi Deb, Josie, Joan, and Cathy--

This morning I did CW (60 min.).

Deb, I don't think the Garnier roller does any good on wrinkles. It's cold, so it might reduce bags if that is the problem, but it certainly does not work as a filler. No, I won't start teaching until second semester begins in February. I do, however, have to go to senior meetings on reappointments and one tenure decision. Blech! Hate meetings! I am off to see a political satire called In the Loop at 4:30. I did manage to find a parking place, but if I had not, I was going to the mall to see District 9--a sci-fi film with a clear political allegory at work on apartheid. It has received rave reviews.

Joan, it sounds like your mom is hearty enough to deal with general anesthesia. What decision do you think she will make?

Boy, the training for that race Josie sounds as tough as the race itself!

More STS today, Cathy?

Hi Ladies,

No wo for me today. I have been working our every day since Saturday. I need a day off!
I'm going to get a hair cut instead and maybe my nails done.

Garance, One of the people that I spoke to about the race said that the road is easier than the spinning classes. This person has done the race 5 times and I plan to take his spinning classes for trainning and support.

Deb, thank you for your support and I know that I can do it because once I sign up for something I go for it. My DD is going to be a volunteer and she and I are going to camp out together. I told her that she can be my reporter and update an every day blog as a reporter for her mom. She wants to be a journalist and this would be a great opportunity to show her skills. I can be her project.

Hi Joan and Cathy.

Josie

Thursday

Good morning,

No workout today, decided to sleep in. I am slowing falling off the wagon...someone give me a kick back on please! I may have to start STS over again...for some reason that made me get up and workout almost faithfully.

Garance, any results from Physique 57 yet? Hey, I just got a full size of Murad Essential C on Ebay for $41, free shipping...there are 8 left.....do you need any? I can't pass up a bargain!

Where the hell is our Tower??? I am sick of waiting for it...and the explanation about going through Customs is , must I say, a little far fetched....come on people, I do this for a living....

What is everyone up to today?

Hi Ladies,

Today is my wo with Kevin plus 30 minutes of cardio. I can't wait for the long weekend.
I'm going to finish my book by the pool or the beach and just wo and take it easy the rest of the days. My DS is coming over to spend the long weekend, so I'm going to spoil him.

Deb, I usually fall off the wagon once I accomplish a goal, such as finishing a marathon or any other race. I need some goal to keep me motivated and I guess yours was to finish STS. You should definitely start over. Also, I’m running out of the powder that you ordered for me and my Avon. My SIL is not selling it anymore.

Hi to Garance, Cathy and Joan.

Josie

Hi Deb, Josie, Joan, and Cathy--

This morning I did the 30 min. Physique 57 followed by 30 min. of kickbox with Kelly C-M. I probably should have taken some measurements to see if my legs improve from these tortuous workouts. I do think my abs are flatter.

Deb, if you will buy some Essential-C at 41 dollars for me, I will send you a check pronto. That's a great price, and I am getting low. Hey, at least you are getting some zzzzzz! You will just have to think of some way to reward yourself for getting started again on your workouts. Or some way to deprive yourself if you don't.

SIL and BIL and their two kids are staying with us over Labor Day, so I have to do some serious cooking for at least one night. The weather sounds super, though, so DH will have to do some grilling.

Sounds like you will be getting some r and r, Josie. What are you going to read next??

What are your Labor Day plans, Joan and Cathy??

Good evening all,

No wo but checking in. Mother had decided on full mastectomy until I reminded her that they would have to take some of the lymph nodes to test and therefore a chance of swelling in the arm.(can't spell technical term)

I think she is back to partial. Even with radiation. I think surgery would be easier on her. She isn't that worried about it but I have to calm down most of my relatives. I wish we hadn't even told them.

No plans yet for the weekend but I am so behind on my accounting that one day had better be just work.

Joan
