Good afternoon,

It took me this long to sit down at the computer. I did my own circuit workout today, but only did 3 cycles. I think I burned myself out last Sunday when I did 4 cycles. It was still a pretty good workout. Then did laundry, cleaned Fritz's cage, dog bedding, changed sheets, dishwasher, weeded a good portion of the perennial bed and mulched it. I crashed after that.

Joan, my prayers are with your Mom. I hope all turns out ok.

Garance, how was the performance yesterday?

What is everyone else up to today?
 
WOW! it is almost the end of august. this summer has flown by. i wish it would just keep flyin, and get cooler. kids start school here tomorrow. unbelievable!

i started meso 3 today w/the first plyo legs cuz i needed a shorter workout today. man, it seemed harder this time. i just about passed out. mega puke factor. as a matter of fact i still feel kinda pukey. think i am gonna do shoulder, tris, and ? , can't think of the 3rd thing, anyway, gonna do it tomorrow, cuz i probably will only have 4 days to workout this week. have to work at a horse show friday & saturday, and don't think a workout is gonna happen those days, except for cleaning stalls, riding, and sweating to death.guess that will count.

I did a 40 minute I-Tread this morning, and sweating bullets right now...whew it is hot.

Cathy, I would love to see a horse show. In 2 weeks I will be working both Saturday and Sunday at a dog show.

How is everyone else? Did you have a good weekend?
 
Hi Deb, Cathy, Josie, and Joan--

This morning I did Amy Bento's Cardio Combat Surge premix without the surges (63 min.). Yesterday I did the 57 min. Physique 57 workout and I have doms in my legs and butt--not too bad, but this is definitely a shaper for legs, abs, and butt. Not so much the upper body, though.I am going to do 4 weeks of these Physique 57 workouts to see if I get any results on my legs and abs, because, number 1, these are my problem areas, and 2, I really felt these exercises. So--tomorrow I will do the arms and abs for 30 min. with a short aerobic workout and on Thursday the short full body workout with another short aerobic workout or more weights with Kelly C-M.

Deb, the Pacific Northwest Ballet was really beautiful. They did 3 pieces by Ulysses Dove, and they were all "spiritual." The first was titled "Dances on Heaven's Porch" and dedicated to 6 people Dove had lost--mostly to aids. The second was called "Vespers" and evoked the kind of drama to be found in the African-American church, with 6 women dancers. The third was titled "Red Angels" (about purgatory) and was quite sensual. The music was played onstage by a woman on a 5-string electric violin. Really interesting sounds. Incredible bodies!!! Yesterday I went to see the Hurt Locker, a film set in Iraq at the height of the war--2004. It was very tense and extremely well done. Woman director Kathryn Bigelow, who really knows how to build a sequence to explosive results.

Joan, I hope everything is okay for your mom. Do you think, given her age, they will recommend chemotherapy if she has cancer? I've read that sometimes cancers in older people are slow growing and the "cure" might be worse than the course of the disease.

Cathy, I can't imagine even trying to do those plyo disks in meso 3. I think Physique 57 might be better for me on legs--no impact.

I don't think I can stand any more rain. According to DH, we have had almost 30 inches of rain, mostly during the summer. The humidity turned my hair into a brillo pad yesterday, too. Blech!
 
well, mah buns are definitely screamin' at me today.

OWWW! gonna have sore shoulders, bi's & tri's tomorrow. i think i got the weight right this time in meso 3. very hard. barely made my 8 reps. i plan to be sore all over for the next month. :)
 
Hi Ladies,

I'm back! I went spinning yesterday and it was so hard, but I finished the class. I did get to wo on Monday and Wednesday of last week in addition to taking care of my grand kids.

I went to Palm Springs with my DM, DD and DB. It was fun, but I did not win any money this time. I did get to lay out by the pool and have a nice tan to show for it.

Garance, I'm glad that you made the recipe for your DH. I like it best the next day.

Joan, How is your DM. My prayers are with you.

Cathy, How is the heat?

Deb, I slept so well in Palm Springs and soon as I got home I had trouble falling asleep on my own bed. Maybe I need a new mattress.

I might spin tonight.

Good Morning,

I have to be at work at 5:00 am today and tomorrow so no morning workouts for me unless I want to get up at 3:00 am. :eek: ...Hopefully I will get out by 2:00 today, or 1:00 if I decide not to take a lunch..

Hi Deb, Josie, Joan, and Cathy--

This morning I did Physique 57 arms and abs (30 min.), followed by 2 miles with Leslie (30 min.). My doms from Physique 57 full body workout on Sunday were worse today than yesterday. These are pretty tough workouts. My abs today were screaming!

Welcome back, Josie! Did DH buy you something special for your birthday to make up for not remembering?? Did you start reading the Story Sisters?

Deb, what kind of work do you do at 5 A.M.

How are things with your DM Joan?

Cathy, I would love to send you some of the rain we have had. It is much nicer here today, and it sounds like by Friday we will get some autumnal weather. But who knows? It's New England, and the saying is that if you turn around, the weather changes.

Hi ladies,

My week of walking and watching calories produced little or no results Maybe 1/4lb. lost.

I haven't done anything this week.

DM will have biopsy this Thursday. She needed to be off aspirin for a week. I had hoped someone could watch Elliot while I took her to doctor but no such luck. It's at 1:00- right during nap time. I think I will call to see how long everything will take.

I was right dil is pregnant but only 2 months. They had wanted to wait to tell everyone but she is having a bout of depression and they need more support from me. Ds also has depression and heart problems so he has limited energy. Dil is going to bed by 7:00pm each evening. I guess I will take Elliot back to her house on Friday's and clean house and do laundry.

I guess I will just keep checking in even if I don't get wo in.

Hi Ladies,

Wo went well yesterday and when I got on the scale this morning I was at 165 lbs. I'm happy that I did not gain any weight on my trips. My friends wanted to take me out on Friday to celebrate my birthday, but I told them that I've had enought for this month and will party next month. I want to get back to my 3 days with Keving and 3 days of spinning. I will be signing up for the Aids Life Cycle this weekend and need to get my road bike in order to start training for the bike ride from San Francisco to LA. Next year it will be from June 6 through the 12.

Joan, please keep posting even if you do not wo. We want to know how your DM is doing.
I will keep her in my prayers.

Deb, any good sleep yet?

Garance, are you still sore? I went into the wo web-site and I'm tempted to buy.

This morning I did Cathe's Cardio and Weights (approx. 60 min.).

Joan, just keep checking in with us, even if you are not doing your usual late-night marathon workouts. It sounds like you have a lot of family issues to take care of, and we will keep you in our thoughts. Maybe after the first trimester, dil won't need so much sleep. I remember being pretty much in a sleep-induced fog the first three months of my pregnancies.

Josie, I cannot believe you are going to do a bike race from San Francisco to L.A.! That is fantastic! If that doesn't take off some weight, nothing will. Nope, my doms are finally gone. But tomorrow I am doing the shorter Physique 57 workout, and my legs will probably be fried again like they were after the longer workout. Something about those exercises.....

Deb, are you home yet from your 5 A.M. stint at work? I would be worthless at that hour.

Cathy--any letup in the heat??

Hi all,

Yep, I just got home from another 5:00 am start day. I am not sure why, but I can get up at 4:00 am to workout, then go to work until 5:00 pm and feel ok. But this getting up and getting to work at 5:00, even only working until 2:00 is a killer! I did this because I have people that work at bridge offices on the border that are 24/7. I hardly get to see these people so I decided that I needed to go to both bridge offices this week and by going at 5:00-7:00 I get to see 2 different shifts of people.

Garance, you are tempting me with those workouts! How many are there, what are titles and length of each?

Josie, that bike ride would be amazing! :eek:

Joan, I can also say that I hope you keep posting even when you are not working out. We are all here to support each other during "good" workout times and bad. My prayers are with your Dm as well as DIL. I hope your DIL feels better after this month or 2.

Hi Ladies,

I'm very excited about doing the bike ride and it is something that I have been wanting to do for a very long time and since I don't run marathons anymore I need a goal to keep me working out.

I will be asking for support from you ladies, because I need to collect $5000, dollars in pledges to participate. I have a few ideas on how to collect the money and a lot of friends that will help me.

Good Morning,

I slept better last night, even with taking a 2 hour nap yesterday afternoon.. no workout though, no real energy to do it. I hate crappy stuff all day yesterday, That happens to me when I am really tired. All I want is carbs and sugar.

Josie, if that organization has a link to donate in your name, post it here.

Joan, good for you for getting that workout in! Sending ((good vibes)) for you for today.

Hi Deb, Josie, Joan, and Cathy--

This morning I did the short Physique 57 workout (30 min.) with another 30 min. kickbox workout with Kelly C-M.

Deb, there are three Physique 57 workouts: a 57 min. total body workout, a 30 min. abs and arms, and a 30 min. total body workout. The total body workouts IMO really concentrate on legs, butts and abs--not all that strenuous of work for the upper body. The legs and butt exercises are very tough, I think, and the abs is also pretty hard.

Josie, by all means put up a link for us to contribute. I will be rooting for you when you get on that bike.

Joan, good for you getting a workout in!

Cathy, fall is here--only in the 60s today. Maybe you will be getting some cool weather soon.
