Garance, I haven't seen "cap highlights" done in years. For mine, she takes the hairs to be highlighted, puts the stuff on and wraps in aluminum foil.
Valerie, you kayak too? I always wanted to try that, but not a swimmer so water stuff scares me.
What is everyone up to this weekend?

Deb, thank you so much for the Word format. It printed just fine. I will make a couple copies so if I lose one I have backup. I'd love to get work sheets for my older disks if they're available but I will be happy to go seek them out here on the boards if they're available. Can you tell me where to look?
Ha... I'm not a water person either! If we kayak we go to a commercial place where they have equipment to use and a guide. the PNW has a vast amount of protected salt water. this is not 100% risk free but very safe if you go with people who know tides and dangerous places and how to avoid them. I find water pretty scary even in a big boat so it's nothing I'd do by myself. Being a swimmer doesn't help much when the water is this cold.
yoga yesterday morning, and part of KPC later in the day. I had a sore spot on the outside of my left leg that kept kicking in so I modified the workout, cut it short. ouch. only noticed it during certain moves but it needs a day or two off. no idea where it came from, didn't notice anything during normal activities.
Wonder where everyone else is? I know it's vacation season.
I'm starting to feel positively out of touch without a smart phone. all these middle east overthrows ..speaking of Libya right now...are organized and run by people with smart phones and texting, FB/Twitter. according to a washington post article, text messages went out to thousands of cell phones in Tripoli ordering "do not destroy public buildings. these are the future of Libya" things. guess I need to upgrade one of these years.
today will do upper body or a circuit.

Hi Deb and Valerie--
This morning I did TLC, both workouts (60 min.).
Deb, my hair is too fine for the foil highlights. I would end up completely blonde according to my hairdresser. As for this weekend, tomorrow looks fine for Jacob's Pillow, but Sunday could be a total washout. Everything depends on Irene. I went grocery shopping this morning, when I usually go on Sundays to avoid what could be howling winds and Noah's flood. Poor DH! He will be moving all of the chickens indoors on Saturday because of Irene. If he didn't, their hoop houses would probably blow all over the place and he'd lose half his chickens.
I am sort of a water person. Grew up in Minneapolis and loved swimming in the lakes. BUT I cannot deal with the ocean. All I can do is bob with DH's assistance. I am also so nearsighted that if he doesn't come in with me, I would never be able to find my way back to our umbrella. Loved snorkeling and kayaking when we were in Hawaii. They actually have eyesight correction in snorkeling masks.

Best of luck with the hurricane and all that can come with it. I won't be around here until mid week next week. going on a mini vacation. we have pleasant weather here now, not too hot. we are hoping to get in a short backpack if the forecast holds. Hard to tell seems to be shifting around by the minute.
