Pentagenarians & Beyond W/B 8/2

Hi Deb, Josie, Joan, and Cathy--

This morning I did the High Step Training again (63 min.).

If I understand my son correctly, when he called the resort to discuss their wedding plans and asked for a manager who had taken their reservations, the manager was no longer there. They had no record of any reservations and the person he spoke to could barely speak English. They would have had to start all over if they still wanted to go there for a wedding, and with this big move coming up, they decided to opt out entirely until May or June of 2010. This pleases me because then my husband will be able to go--it's his least busy time. I thought the Thailand idea was crazy to begin with because I feared political unrest would close the Bangkok airport as it had before. I expected some kind of disaster and was planning to buy travel insurance just in case. San Francisco sounds MUCH better.

Joan, it sounds like major drama before your son married. At least no money has been lost at this end. I managed to get back all of my miles used to buy the original tickets, and the taxes I paid were returned and that pretty much covered the expense of cancellation.

I made Philly cheese steaks and a really delicious and low calorie zucchini soup and we will be having them again tonight. Sounds like we will have a houseful this weekend with both sons and future dil, so I am making chicken fajitas in a lime-cilantro marinade with poblano peppers, yellow peppers, and red onions--all grilled. These are one of my sons' favorites. We may go out on Saturday night to celebrate my fil's 85th birthday.

Book recommendations: The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo and its sequel, The Girl Who Played with Fire, both by Stieg Larsson. Mystery-thriller lovers take note.

That's about all, folks!

today i did tracie long's core cardio , from her "revolution series". i am either really tired this week or i am forgetting how hard these workouts are. LOL! this one fried me too. although i did almost the whole thing on an 8" step. it is a super fun workout and great core work at the end.

deb, i forgot about them too, and they seemed alot harder this time for some reason. i only went up 1# in each excercise this time around. my triceps are not happy today.:)

TGIF

Good Morning,

I am glad the week is almost over. I have to to to an unemployment hearing this morning, then right over to a client meeting. This day can't end soon enough for me!

Joan, sorry you are in a slump. How are you feeling today? Using this as a rest week is a good idea. I did 3 workouts this week, so this is kind of a rest week for me too. Yes, sometimes I think these dogs are payback for not having kids!

Josie, I always wondered how acrylic nails would be on toes! Let me know.

Garance, that story about your son and the place where he was supposed to get married is amazing. What if they hadn't called it off? The place had no record of having it planned...had they sent a deposit or anything to hold the date?..checked out those book titles over at Amazon, kind of strange write ups..if any...

Cathy, you may be doing too much in addition to STS...be careful because this is when injuries happen.

Have a great day!

Hi Deb, Josie, Joan, and Cathy--

This morning I did Kelly C-M's Cardio Sculpt Fitness (70 min.).

It feels more like fall than summer here. It hasn't even reached 70 degrees. Oh well, at least it's sunny.

Deb, I am in the middle of The Girl Who Played with Fire. I love the heroine--who is also the heroine in the first book. She is brilliant, resourceful, and knows how to save herself--a refreshing departure from damsels in distress who need to be saved by heroic men. One of the reasons I like Sara Paretzky's series with V. I. Warshawski too. No, there was no money exchanged for the wedding. Sorry you have so many meetings. That's the kind of "work" I really hate. I have several scheduled for September because a junior colleague is coming up for tenure.

Hope everyone has a great weekend! I will be busy with family.

Hi everyone,

I just finished disc 32, 33 and 34 and a mile with Leslie. I have decided that one shouldn't do more that 2 discs in a day.

Dh will probably be 2 hours late. Flight to Dallas (10.5hrs) was on time but they had trouble with plane getting back to St Louis. He still thinks he will get back by 9:30.

wow! these double wave loads are killer. did disc 21 today, and i'm glad they're over. then did "tight buns& killer legs" w/kelsie. needed to work my lower body again this week. that is a great little workout and hits all those icky places.

deb, i think instead of injuries i just get totally worn out. i have a hard time backing off , though. that is probably why my body shuts down occasionally and says "NOPE, NOT TODAY" :)

garance/lynda, is that right???? that zucchini soup sounds good, how do you make it? i love zucchini.

have a great weekend, everyone.
