Good Morning all,

I did not turn my computer on all day yesterday, took small naps and really did not get anything around here done. So that is all left for today.

I made up a circuit workout, using 4 exercises, and the treadmill. it looks like this:

3 min w/U on Treadmill
12 push ups
1 minute jogging
12 squats with 20 lb DB's
1 minute jogging
assisted pull ups/chin ups ( I could do 6)
1 minute jogging
12 leg curls w/10 lb
1 min jogging

I did this 4 times, took 61 minutes and burned 467 calories. I may do this 3 times a week, with just all cardio on othter days. We'll see.

Garance, how was Jacob's Pillow?

Josie, I kind of got the idea from you for the 1 minute bursts..

Hi to Joan & Cathy, how are you doing?

Good Morning Deb, Garance, Josie and Cathy,

Two weeks of almost all goofing off is all I better do. I did finally finish sts today.:D:D

My brother went home Saturday. We won't have any visitors or vacations until New Years. Hopefully no excuses to get back to losing weight.

Deb Yea for 6 pull ups. I don't have any idea how many I can do. I've only done the assisted pull up machine. My guess is none.

If I don't check in, yell at me. It means I haven't done anything. I know other people have other reasons for not checking in but for me I just haven't done anything.

Joan

Hi Joan,

You have to check in, even if you didn't do anything, so we could YELL AT YOU!

p.s the 6 were chin-ups and they were with an assisted pull up strap...I was doing 12 during that meso of STS that had them...looks like I lost about 50% of my strength....ugh..that was what I was afraid of when stopping STS....

Hi Deb, Josie, Joan, and Cathy--

This morning I did Kelly C-M's Cardio Sculpt Fitness (70 min.). I was planning on doing Drill Max again, but just wasn't up for it. Maybe tomorrow?

Deb, that circuit looks very straightforward and effective. Good for you on your inventiveness! I am such a robot-automaton in the morning I want to be directed by someone else and just follow orders. I liked two pieces by Doug Varone: A Short Story and Lux. The first dance was kind of boring. On Lux I wished they had more colorful costumes to complement the exuberance of the dancing and the Philip Glass music instead of these ugly black getups which didn't add a thing to the piece. We also had a beautiful day--sunny and not too warm. Today, on the other hand, is kind of oppressive--but I am not complaining because we have had so little summer.

JOAN, GET UP DANG IT AND DO SOMETHING FOR THAT BOD! How's that for yelling? Actually I envy your ability to take time off. I just feel soooo guilty if I don't work out 6 times per week when I really have the time. Exercise for dh is effortless--he just works physically all day every day and during the summer leans out to about 160. He's 6 feet tall to my 5' 2" and has only 24 lbs. on me.

Hi to Josie and Cathy!!

A Melifluous Monday!

Good Morning!

I did 2 miles on the treadmill, part walking, part jogging. I think I will try to do this as my cardio on the "off" days from the circuit rotation.

Hot and humid here already, and it's only 5:20am... Did a lot of weeding and mulching yesterday. It was good to be in the sun, ( with big sun hat of course!).

Garance, I can't wait until you get the Physique 57 workouts, I would like to hear a review from someone that I know. Yes, costumes are a big part of the dance. I went on Regis & Kelly's site and looked at all the past shows where they had clips of Dancing with the Stars couples on the show. They did their dances, but without costumes, and it wasn't as good as I remember them. Your DH is so lucky, I wish I had a job that was physical so I did not have to exercise!

Joan, make sure you DO SOMETHING today! ok, that was me yelling at you!

Hi to Josie, & Cathy! did you have a busy weekend?

Hi Deb, Josie, Joan, and Cathy--

Since it was 100% humidity this morning and I felt like a rag doll, I only did Timesaver #1 (38 min.). I like this one because I have always enjoyed the step portion of Step, Jump, and Pump--fun moves and very little impact.

Deb, have you seen the new DWTS cast? I really don't know who a lot of them are, but I know I'll be watching come September. One of the totally weirdest choices is Tom Delay--the "hammer" as he was known in Congress before he stepped down due to corruption charges back in Texas. Who knows--maybe Blagoyevitch or his wife will be next. Scary! My Physique 57 DVDs apparently shipped on 8/13, but still no sign of them.

Josie, I am going to try making your soup, but I intend to saute the onion and zucchini and maybe a few mushrooms, then add a can of diced tomatoes and the mexicorn and some homemade chicken broth and throw in some kidney beans for good measure. I think I will add some spices, too. And since I have a big chunk of gruyere, I will be using that instead of monterey jack. What do you think?

JOAN, YOU GO GIRL! JUST DO IT! A JOURNEY OF A THOUSAND MILES BEGINS WITH A SINGLE STEP! I will try to come up with some more cliches tomorrow.

Wishing for some rain for you, Cathy.

quik check-in. company all weekend, exhausted! will take the whole week to recover from company. hope i am not as tired next week as i am today.

Hi ladies,

Yelling worked. I got 2 hours of walking in- no jogging. I did use 2350 calories in the 24 hours. That was about 350 more than the day I did 3 discs. I think it helped that I had Elliot all day.:) Part of my trouble is in the past I was able to stay up late enough so no matter how long I put exercise off I could get it in. Now if I don't go to bed between midnight and 1am I am too tired the next day to babysit.

I got a good look at dil today and I think she is pregnant again.

Deb you start to lose your strength gains if you don't lift for 2 weeks and lose all of them if you don't lift for 3 months. I know I need to add some heavy lifting in each week- maybe Slow and Heavy.

Garance I keep missing DWTS but I have been watching Dance Your Ass Off. It is a combination weight loss show and dance contest. I like it because the winner is determined by 3 judges not fans.

Cathy you may have all our rain. Lots of storms the last two days and is supposed to be around until Thursday.

Hi Josie,

Joan

Tuesday

Good Morning,

No workout today, a crappy night's sleep again. I have tried Valerian root, Melatonin, and neither works for me. it is so hot here that I finally caved in and let DH put the window air conditioner in the bedroom. The noise drives me crazy, but the heat is worse. I wish we had a house that could have AC installed. We have hot water heat, no duct work.

Garance, I went over to the web and saw the cast. I hardly know any of them either. Why 16? I thought 13 was too many last year. It amazes me that they have to stoop so low that they have to have politicians with a "criminal" past.

Cathy, take a long nap!;)

Joan, Cudos to you for getting back on track! Never heard of Dance Your Ass Off...what station/network is that on?

Waving Hi to Josie!

Have a good one!

Hi Deb, Josie, Joan, and Cathy--

This morning I did the Cardio and weights premix for Bodymax 2 (70 min.). Phew--another hot one.

Deb, I did get my Physique 57 workouts today, so I will try to preview over the next few days and let you know what I think. I did notice that they have a 30 day refund for ANY reason. If I don't like them I will send them back.

My version of Josie's soup was a big hit with DH. He ate two big bowls of it with his two cheeseburgers. I liked it as well. A great way of getting a big dose of veggies. We'll have it again tonight with our pulled pork sandwiches. I do a really easy crockpot version of pulled pork.

Joan, HAPPY OUR YELLING WORKED! JUST REMEMBER, AN OUNCE OF PREVENTION IS WORTH A POUND OF CURE! Cliche-a-day. Sounds like Elliot is a little dynamo who keeps you in perpetual motion. Hope your dil carries to full term this time.

Cathy, I cannot gloat about our weather being cool anymore. It's going up in the 90s again today, and it's HHH. I agree with Deb--take a nap.

Hump Day!

Good morning,

Well I actually slept about 5 hours straight without waking last night, something I have not done for months. I turned off the workout alarm at 11:30 when I had not yet gone to sleep, thinking there was no way I was getting up at 4:15. The next thing, it was 5:00 am! Went back to sleep and got up at 5:45 when the regular alarm went off.. no workout but I feel so much better.

It has been so humid here I feel like a dishrag..

Garance, yes, I would like to hear your opinion of the workouts, once you have tried them. They are so different from ones we are used to doing. The soup sounds great, and you will be able to use your veggies. Maybe make a big pot and freeze it. I would like to see your recipe for pulled pork in the crock pot. DH loves pulled pork and we like to use the crock pot a lot! No heat! Love the cliche-a-days! :D

Joan, I hope you are have your mojo..

Josie, did you go somewhere this week and I forgot

Cathy, stay cool..( yeah right!)

Have a good one!

Hi Deb, Josie, Joan, and Cathy--

This morning I did Timesaver #2 (40 min.).

Okay, Deb, here's the pulled pork recipe:

3-5 lb pork butt roast--boneless
1 10.5 oz French Onion soup
1 C. ketchup
1/4 C. cider vinegar
3 Tbsp. brown sugar
1 Tbsp. oil

Brown the pork butt on all sides in oil. Mix the other ingredients in crockpot and put the roast in, swishing it around a bit to coat. Cook on low, 8-10 hours, shred meat with a couple forks and put back in with juices. Serve on rolls of your choice. Yummy!

I looked at the abs and arms Physique 57 DVD. 30 min. It reminds me of Ellen Barrett Studio workouts and the Tracy Effinger Squeeze workouts. I'm going to try 5 lbs and maybe shift to 8 lbs at times, but definitely a lot of repetitions of low weights. The abs look pretty hard. Since you combine plie-squats with the arm work, there might be a cardio factor. There's one modifier. You need a ball. I'm going to try my 3 lb. med ball. All done in bare feet. I'm going to match this one up with a short cardio next week.

SHAPE UP OR HIP OUT! Cliche, slightly modified, for today, and shouted for Joan's benefit.

Hi to Josie (celebrating your birthday with DM?) and Cathy!

whew!, well, this has not been a very restful week. my last guest left about an hour ago. i am soooooo tired. i have not had time or energy to do any workouts this week, so i'm glad it is my week off. i really hope i feel more energetic on monday to start meso 3.
gonna go vege.
cathy

Hi ladies,

I got 2hrs 10 min on treadmill last night. I ended up with 14089 steps for the day. Monday it was 8000 steps with more calories burned. I knew the walking in place was not counting all the steps but that was crazy.
Total calories burned for the 24 hours was 2216 calories.

Happy Birthday tomorrow Josie. Hope another great trip.

Garance I've been looking for recipe for pulled pork. Sounds like a good one.

Deb I wish I could help with suggestions for sleep. When dh was gone to Germany I had best nights rest for the last 10 years. Since I'm not getting rid of him I don't know what answer is.

Joan

Hi Deb, Josie, Joan, and Cathy--

This morning I did High Step Challenge (68 min.).

Hope you had a good night's sleep again, Deb. The humidity is down a bit here so the sleep is much better, more refreshing.

Joan, I truly admire your grit. Hours and hours of work on the treadmill. Do you watch TV at the same time?

Happy birthday tomorrow Josie! Have a Manhattan for me.

Anyone going to tune in to Project Runway tonight? I love this show!

Hi to weary Cathy!

well, another unrestful day. LOL! man, and tomorrow is gonna be super busy. i guess i'm gonna have to rest on sunday to be ready for m3. i'm almost afraid to start m3, i just ddon't feel ready for it this time around. not sure why. i think the heat has just done me in this summer. i will not do STS in the summer again. ya'll have a great weekend, will probably not be back til sunday evening.
bye, cathy

Hi everyone,

I don't seem to be able to finish before midnight. I only got 1hr and 5 min activity but used 2043 calories for the day. It's the uncounted activity that must have burned calories. Some days I am busier than sitting at a desk but just movement doesn't count as activity but of course burns calories. I am trying to learn to pace. I have been watching tv when on treadmill because it is so boring. If the weather was better I would at least be able to take Elliot for walks.

I watched both Project Runway shows. I can't tell if I will like this batch of people or not. I really didn't like the clothes of the winner of the $100,000 challenge.

Joan

TGIF!

Good morning,

So glad Friday is finally here. Still hot and sticky here. Ugh. Don't mind the heat, it's the humidity that kills me.

I could not get on the forum yesterday, that part of the site was down for maintenance. I tried a couple of times then had to go to work. Glad it's all fixed now.

Garance, thanks for the recipe. I copied it to include with others. Yes, keep me posted on the Physique 57 stuff.

Cathy, yes, houseguests can be very tiring. You always feel like you have to be paying attention to them in some way, Go on and start Meso 3, you will find it will be a breeze after 1 & 2 !

Joan, Good job on the TM workout and calorie burn! you are probably right. I do sleep better when DH is gone! He is very restless, and snores horribly. Is the calorie burn count just for the exercise you are doing, or do you wear this all the time?

Josie, HAPPY BIRTHDAY!

Have a good one ladies!

Hi Deb, Joan, and Cathy--and a big HAPPY BIRTHDAY for Josie--

This morning I did Timesaver 4 (43 min.), and could barely get through it because of the humidity. 73 degree dewpoint! I was dripping before I even started. It is now 87 degrees and HUMID HUMID HUMID. I guess we are going to have big thunderstorms later today and they may extend into Saturday. I'm off to Jacob's Pillow tomorrow to see the Pacific Northwest Ballet so I hope it isn't too awful.

Joan, I didn't like the 100,000 dollar winner either last night. It struck me as being too Goth of a red carpet dress for Nicole Kidman to wear. She is also playing the director's "muse" in 9, based on Fellini's 8 1/2, and in the Fellini film, Claudia Cardinale does wear a black dress with big feathers at one point, but is mostly in white.

I'm going to do the long Physique 57 workout on Sunday. I'll let you know how it is, Deb. Tell your DH to do a sleep clinic. Maybe his snoring is sleep apnea and he needs what Regis now wears every night.

Hi everyone,

Deb I wear the GWF armband all day and it estimates sleep time and awake time calories even when you don't wear it based on info you input. You can wear it 23 hours per day but I don't. It also tells you how effective your sleep is if you wear it at night.

I got 8052 steps, 1hr 24 min activity and 2049 calories used for Friday.

Took mother to surgeon today for biopsy. Unfortunately, they decided they needed another mammogram and then ultrasound. That wouldn't have been too bad but took 2 hours since it was not scheduled. Mammogram I had I was in and out in less than 1/2 hour. And Ultrasound for mother last time wasn't even 15 minutes. We will still need biopsy and is scheduled for next week. Elliot was very good but next time is in afternoon which is her nap time.

Hope everyone has a great weekend.

Joan
